About Daniel

I teach piano, composition, music theory, and ear training to students at every level of musical experience (including those who cannot read music). To date I have taught over 100 music students in private, online and classroom settings.

My biggest priority in teaching is to help you reach your specific goals and address your needs! Every student has their own objectives and learns at their own pace, and my job is to ensure that you get exactly what you want out of the lessons. Whether you’re looking to master piano basics, learn your favorite songs or pieces, write your own music, prepare for a theory exam, strengthen your theory skills, or improve your ear, I can help you achieve your goals!

I am available for both in-person and online teaching. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

-Subjects-

Beginne

r Piano - I have privately instructed over 30 students in beginner-level piano skills. I can help you master the basics of the instrument, acquire a basic technique, and learn how to read music if necessary. Once the fundamentals are in place, we can cover piano repertoire from a wide variety of styles (jazz, classical, rock, pop, international, etc.), and maybe even learn some of your favorite music and pieces! If you wish, I can supplement lessons with music theory.

Composition and Arrangement - To date I have helped my students write over 20 compositions of widely varying styles and characters. I can help you perfect the art of writing melody, harmony, accompaniment, counterpoint, forms, lyrics, songs, orchestration, or film music! I will provide feedback on your work, as well as instructive musical examples from the past.

Music Theory - I I have taught music theory for 4 years to over 50 students. I can teach you everything from music theory fundamentals (key signatures, scales, major/minor chords, chord analysis) to some of the most advanced topics in undergraduate and graduate musical studies (form, part-writing, counterpoint, advanced harmonic analysis, Schenkerian analysis).

Ear Training - I have taught ear training for 3 years to over 50 students. I am very experienced in assisting students in recognizing and notating everything from single notes and chords to complex passages of music. I have many useful learning materials and know effective methods for achieving aural recognition.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson, please do not hesitate to contact me!

I have been attending online classes of arranging with Daniel for several months now and all I can say is that he has helped me greatly in progressing towards achieving my musical goals. Not only is he very clever and knowledgeable, but he can also adjust his teaching pace with the student's needs. The material he provided was excellent both from a quality point of view and from an organizational aspect. Overall, Daniel has been a great teacher for me and I am very happy I have found him. Thank you very much Daniel!

Stephanie was just fabulous, introducing my grandson to the saxophone. She was very nurturing and encouraging, yet gave me tons of information. I highly recommend her.

Teaching not only requires technical expertise, but it also requires kindness and thoughtfulness. Stephanie is a master at all these things, and learning from her is a genuinely awesome experience.

About Catherine

Hi! I'm Catherine. I'm passionate for anything music, math, or science, and I would love to work with you to help you accomplish your academic, musical, or personal goals!

A BIT ABOUT ME:

I have a BA in Chemistry and Music (voice and violin concentrations) with academic honors, and a Masters in Music from New England Conservatory (NEC). I have lab experience in Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Astrochemistry at Rollins College, Georgia Tech and The University of Virginia.

I have taught and tutored keyboard harmony and music theory at the Undergrad level at NEC, and have tutored privately (math up to calculus, chemistry up to organic, writing).

WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU:

Having trained in violin for 15 years, piano for 10, and voice for 8, I am ready to help you expand your skills with music lessons.

I can't wait to h

elp you in the way that YOU learn best, and taper our lessons to what will help YOUR GROWTH. Going through school and lessons was not a breeze for me, and I was never one of those people who just “got” things right away. For me it took a diligent learning process, so I know what it's like to learn things from scratch, work with a tutor, ask questions, and make mistakes to achieve the best I can. I want to help you do the same!!

Let's schedule a trial lesson and go from there! Look forward to meeting you.

Catherine is very responsible and extremely helpful for my music theory study. She set up additional office hours to help me understand the knowledge and pass the advanced tonal practice course. Her introduction was very clear and she delivered it with great patience. She was also very thoughtful to be flexible to fit my schedule. I really appreciate her help, and would highly recommend her.

I wish I could give catherine 5000000+ stars! she worked with me through two tough years of undergrad music theory and keyboard and I was able to pass my classes on time and really improve my skills. her positivity, enthusiasm, understanding, and work ethic are unmatched. I couldn’t of made it through my first two years of college without her.

Mike
"Rodolfo is as good as it gets. He is a highly experienced teacher who has been studying the voice for years. He knows the ins and outs of every componen
t of the voice, and strictly focuses on technique, and his training regime reflects this. More so, he has worked with students all across the music spectrum in all genres, and cares GREATLY about your future as a musician, and works selflessly to help you achieve your personal goals with music. I've taken 3 lessons with Rodolfo, and my voice has improved incrementally already. LOOK NO FURTHER, trust me!"

learning a lot about playing the guitar and about music in general!!"

Carmen
"Awesome instructor

My experience with Raymond has been fantastic.
He is a teacher among teachers! He is very dedicated and enthusiastic. I really enjoy m
y classes, it's a good learning experience and is fun. He was trained to be a teacher
so that is an advantage over other instructors, that know their instrument but, are not trained to be teachers.
I recommend Raymond to any one that is looking for the best!"

"I strongly recommend Ms. Parman for those looking to enjoy the process while making real gains.

Having taken both group and private lessons with Wendy Pa
rman, I believe that Ms. Parman is an invaluable voice coach to casual and professional singers alike. She knows how to bring out the talent in her clients, and will helps bring out the best in each student through very personalized instruction. Along with a degree in music and vast performing experience, she brings sensitivity towards her clients as she individuates each lesson.

Through the lessons and workshops with Ms. Parman, I have seen a great improvement in my singing voice, the deepening of greater stage presence with ease, and I have grown in my confidence as a singer. She quickly got to know my vocal range and ability and handpicked songs and exercises that helped me develop. I got expert advice on expanding my vocal range and left each lesson with solid techniques I could use to practice on my own. She challenged me to push through what was in my way and I got results.

As her student, I have performing opportunities as she organized two events per month in a casual, supportive yet professional setting. (Singer’s Salon & Singer’s Spotlight) How else can you practice before a live audience and stretch in this area?!

I found her to be flexible with days and times for our lessons, as my schedule changes from month to month. And thankfully, she was willing to travel to my house or at other times we met in her studio.

I strongly recommend Ms. Parman for those looking to enjoy the process while making real gains!!"

"Kadyn has enjoyed his first 2 lessons. Donnie is very nice and knowledgeable."
Debbie
"Great teacher

Brittany has been wonderful in the short amount of time that I've been working with her. I was nervous that she wouldn't like working with
an older student who finally has time to do fun things. But you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! She is patient in her mannerisms, constructive with her comments, and has a good sense of humor when I make some mistakes like when I played something beautifully - just in the wrong key. I will continue my lessons, but increase the amount of time per lesson to take better advantage of her talents."
