I teach every student the technical skills and applied theory necessary to work in any contemporary style on guitar. I use the "Be better than you have to be" approach. Want to be the best on a bad day? Be better than your chosen style requires. I studied classical and jazz in order to excel at rock, folk and blues.
You will learn to read music and charts for guitar, as well as movable scale patterns, movable chord forms, and how to apply it all to master the fretboard.
Have you hit a road block? I can help. Are you brand new and want to be sure you understand the instrument completely? I can help.

I've been teaching guitar for 5 years helping students develop a love for the instrument and learn more about music along the way. There are many styles I'm comfortable teaching from folk (fingerpicking or flatpicking), rock, blues and funk and I would love working on developing a unique style of your own. Within the first few lessons you'll have a solid base of strumming, picking and chord changes and even a few simple songs under your belt. Moving on from there I will craft lessons to move you toward a "goal song," making sure to cater your progress to your needs while keeping a focus on good technique. I enjoy working with students of all ages and experiences and I can't wait to meet you!

About Ryan

Ryan is a musician from Logan Square who plays a plethora of different instruments. He specializes in guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele, but also dabbles in accordion, piano, drums, harmonica and several others. For someone who has never taken a private music lesson before I able to relax and begin learning about music literacy and music theory by Isaiah's ability to express and articulate the fundamentals of guitar in a simplified way. It was rewarding to leave the lesson with new techniques to practice and have fun with.

As far as general guitar technique am able to teach to a advanced level except for heavy metal electric and jazz styles. For any kind of fingerpicking can teach to a advanced level.

"Priscilla has worked with my daughter over several weeks of beginner guitar lessons. These were in our home. She was always on time. When a cancellation was necessary due to weather, she reached out ahead of time to let us know.

As a teacher, she is wonderful with kids. My daughter (7 years old) has enjoyed every minute of every lesson, coming away very happy after each lesson. Priscilla is very enthusiastic, arrives with a very uplifting attitude for every lesson, knows how to talk to kids, knows how to give them positive reinforcement and motivate them. She left helpful homework notes after each lesson. I highly recommend her."

"I had been playing for 25+ years and wanted to learn some applied theory and some jazz. I made a great decision choosing Jared. I took lessons from Jared for 3 years, it was a great experience!

A few key things about Jared I want to share:
- He is always prepared and does his homework
- Incredibly knowledgably and patient
- He finds a way to explain things so they make sense
- Always goes above and beyond what I expected
- He provides materials to aid in learning from videos, backing tracks, tablature and musical notation
- Always smiling and happy to be teaching music

I easily recommend Jared as a teacher to players looking to learn music from beginner though to advanced level. It was an absolute pleasure to be Jared’s student."

"Greg is a great guitar teacher. His love for guitar and for teaching guitar shines through every lesson. He drills down to specific goals that I have as a student, and draws on his vast resources and personal book of teaching materials to assign “homework” for the next lesson that will develop specific skills to achieve my goals.

He is patient, very kind, and flexible with scheduling as needed when unexpected things arise. I look forward to each week’s lesson to sharpen my skills and learn more."
