15+ years' experience -- math and science specialist!

If you've been muddling along with algebra 2 or chemistry has you hitting your head against the wall, I've got your back! Focused but encouraging, enthusiastic but personable, I've patiently helped my students reach that "light-bulb moment" countless times.

Guiding someone to understanding a concept they struggle with is of course a major part of tutoring, but I'm also really big on coaching students to be methodical and have a system. Content knowledge is only part of the puzzle; problem-solving skills are crucial. Check out my testimonials to hear from my students themselves on that!

Using my vocal and acting training, I have worked with many students on improving their speaking voices for public speaking or voice-over work. I use Linklater , and Alexander technique combined with other training to help students overcome their fear of public speaking as well as their technical vocal issues, such as articulation, projection, breathing problems and modulating the voice in a pleasant way. I can help you overcome an overly nasally tone for example or a monotone voice.

About Wendy

I've been teaching private vocal instruction since 2003, and opened my own studio in 2008. I love helping people find their true, authentic voice, which I feel is essential not only for singers but many other people as well! Singing is a great joy, and the voice is one of our primary modes of expre

My four children, ages 6, 6, 11, 12, wanted to learn Spanish and Ms. Julissa made it very easy for us to choose a time and date to fit our busy schedule. She challenges them, gives them homework, quizzes them and sends me individual follow-up emails on their progress, after every lesson. Ms. Julissa have always been very positive and encouraging to all of my children! Best Teacher Ever!!

I absolutely love Algebra. I am certified to teach K-8 math, and I have tutored a High School Junior in math.

About Meagan

Hello, my name is Meagan D., and I have been living in the DC area for about 5 years. I attended Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI. I have my Bachelor's of Science Degree, a Michigan's Provisional Teacher's Certificate, and a Maryland Teacher's Certificate. My major was Mathematics

The teacher is very nice to the student, helps the student in different ways, and explains problem so the student understands their mistake.
Charley
Meagan is very flexible and is a great teacher. She doesn't make the student feel self-conscious about answering wrong, She gently asks the student to explain how they came up with the answer and allows them to correct themselves. If the student doesn't realize their error during the explanation, she explains to the student wherein the equation they made an error. She also repeats the problem areas with the student until they have a full understanding of the process.

I sought Meagan out after my daughter came home with a failing grade in Algebra I. I am very happy with my selection, she is the perfect fit for my daughter. She is very flexible and I appreciate that she doesn't make my daughter feel like her lack of understanding of the subject matter makes her inadequate. I am going to continue hiring Meagan for the duration of the school year, my daughter really likes her and is learning far more than she is from her regular classroom environment.

"My experience with Mr.Akib has been wonderful. He has helped me a lot with my basics as well as my entire content related to Calculus. He is really dedicated as a teacher and he doesn't let the student give up. He encourages the student to put their maximum potential. He also creates such an atmosphere where the student enjoys problem-solving. I have gone from failing to achieving decent grades."
