Trumpet Lessons in Fairview Heights. Amazing Teachers.

I have twenty years in musicianship as a trumpet player myself and five years of experience in teaching music. Each lesson is designed to cater to the needs of the student and provide them with the skills to advance as a successful musician. Each lesson is customized and the students will learn subjects such as sight reading, ear training, musical theory and more.

With years of teaching and gigging experience as a lead trumpet player, jazz soloist, classical player and composer I can guarantee improvement in whatever area my student is interested in. I can teach from a beginning level all the way to advanced players looking for additional coaching. All ages are welcome. In my lessons we will identify what aspects of trumpet playing and music you are interested in and work to improve in those areas. I specialize in fundamental brass technique, range improvement, endurance, jazz improvisation and songwriting. My teaching style will incorporate a theoretical approach so that my students learn about music as a whole while improving their trumpet playing.

lessons will focus on whatever skills the student is interested in learning. I can help with all aspects of trumpet playing: efficiency of playing, tone quality, range, endurance, improvisation, tonguing, etc. I can teach everyone; from absolute beginners through musicians that are serious about pursuing trumpet as a career.

I have been playing trumpet for 69 years.i majored in Music at the University of Wisconsin,studied privately with jazz greats Woody Shaw and toured and worked with Boz Scaggs
Otis Rush,Doug Samms,Jessica Williams,Sonny Fortune,Dexter Gordon and Art Blakey.

I can guide you through all aspects of playing the trumpet including embouchure studies, breath control, sound production, equipment choices, flexibility, range and endurance.

I am using a different approach with every student of mine based of their level and unique strengths. My goal is to motivate and inspire my students so they can achieve the highest level desired. I play with each student at every lesson and use many of the finest trumpet method books such as: Arban, Clarke, Stamp, Schlossberg, Cichowicz.etc.. As a result my students are winning Palm Beach- All County Honor Band, Florida- All State Honor Band as well as going to semi-finals and finals on National Trumpet Competition.

I'm a professional jazz trumpet player who has taught music for 5 years. I am currently based in New York, but I lived in New Orleans for 7 years, where I specialized in playing New Orleans style jazz. I taught elementary band in New Orleans for 3 years, and I'm currently working on a Master's in Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. I love working on jazz styles, improvisation, and trumpet technique. I especially love working with students to improve their endurance!
