For more than 20 years as an actor and teacher, I've enjoyed Improv Acting, a free thinking art form. Students learn to use their imagination, become many different characters, and truly 'think outside the box.' Improv is loads of fun! "The actor's playground!"
I offer a fun, interactive teaching style that encompasses more than 20 years of performing and 15 years of teaching experience. As a performer I have worked as a professional singer, actor, musician, and dancer. I have always had a passion for teaching, directing, and composing. While my love for performing has lessened over the years, I have found my true calling: teaching, directing, and helping others to find their passion for music and the performing arts. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a special emphasis in music, theatre, dance, and psychology. I am a graduate candidate working on completing my thesis as my final requirement for a Masters of Arts degree in Music at San Diego State University. Born and raised on Long Island, Carolyn began working professionally at 8 years old and has since appeared on stage, in national commercials, recorded voiceovers, and booked principal roles in both film and television. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2011 from the Boston Conservatory, where she majored in musical theater with an emphasis in directing. In her spare time, Carolyn has always loved working with people who have a passion for the arts. Whether it’s in a classroom, at a dance studio, or sitting at the piano, Carolyn has worn the many hats of acting coach, voice teacher, dance instructor, music theory tutor, piano teacher, and college audition coach to name a few. Getting cast in Broadway shows, winning first place in national dance competitions, receiving perfect scores on vocal/piano NYSSMA solos, and being accepted to
some of the most competitive college programs in the nation are just a few of her clients’ many accomplishments.
Today what's the first lesson for my two girls with Carolyn. All I can say but the lesson was absolutely amazing my girls came out extremely inspired with lots of exciting homework to do they couldn't wait to show me what they've learned and couldn't wait to start practicing Carolyn was everything we were hoping for and a lot more. I have no doubts that would have made the best choice who could possibly make. My girls can't wait for their next lesson.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏👏

This is time to challenge ourselves. Lets learn how our bodies move and how to improvise with our dance.
Meet your dance instructor. I have my bachelors degree from Chapman University in Theatre & Dance. My training includes Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Folk Dance, Dance History, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Improv, and Kinesiology, among other dance-related subjects.
I grew up in a small Illinois town. Lessons were few and far between, so I would copy dancing off of movies and videos in order to perform at local dances, or for other community events. As a youth, I took country line dancing classes. Always drawn to anything involving dance and movement, I auditioned and performed with a Disney Showcase Troupe. By high school, I was choreographing for the Show Choir, as well as, performing in theatrical productions, including the musical “The Wizard of Oz”.
Before graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in Theatre & Danc
e from Chapman University in Orange, California, I continued my study of many dance styles & techniques such as: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Ballroom, Dunham Technique, yoga/stretch, Dance Business & History. From 1996-2001 I performed a variety of dancing and singing roles in showcases and events such as “American Celebration” and “The Story of Rock n’ Roll”. While studying at Chapman, I accepted a position as historian, and eventually, vice president of the performing arts society (PASC).
When I wasn’t onstage, I could be found backstage working lights, sound, costuming, or stage management. I searched out other educational opportunities at Cypress College and the Taggart International School where I studied West African dance and Russian Ballet Technique. After performing a liturgical dance performance for my graduation ceremony, I toured the United States and a portion of Canada, researching dance around the world. This eventually led me to Jacmel, Haiti, where I studied cultural and social dances of the local people. After that I took up Bellydance and studied folk dancing in Chicago, Illinois.
Since 2001, I have taught classes for all ages from infants to adults. I have also studied child development and have a special love for bringing an adoration of the arts to the youngest artists in our communities. It is imperative that all my teachings highlight body positivity and the belief that everyone can dance. A life-long learner and dance aficionado, I continue my dance studies in Ballroom, Baroque Dance, and Scottish Country Dance. My influences include Isadora Duncan, Katherine Dunham, Sean Greene & Misty Copeland. I love being a part of the DA Dance Family.

My little just started dancing because her big sister dances. She is a shy one but warmed up to Miss Chrystie and loves tapping with her. She plays music that she loves and is helping her learn how to tap dance in a fun way!

Chrystie is so amazing! She's honest, fun, and dedicated to the kids!
I pioneered a private Arts Academy drama school for 4 years, and am now teaching acting and directing at a middle and high school. My goal is to help students become well-rounded in all the areas that are needed to truly become a working actor. These areas include: auditioning, theater, film, and improvisation.
Being a repertory performer for Silver Star Playhouse (musical theater parodies), and having lots of experience and training in improv and interactive dinner theaters really trains you in comedy. My husband also owns Sound waves Productions (technological advanced studio in Gilbert)- so completing remote voiceover work for a reel is not out of the question.
I also encourage students to pair in duos for effective scene work and more in-depth technique training (this will also split your lesson cost in half).
I am super excited to be building a private and small group lesson platform at our home studio and to meet your personal acting needs! I recently stepped down from 2 years of full time drama and art at Lumos Arts Academy- a private school I played a role in pioneering- to focus on building up passionate individuals who are serious about thriving in the performing world.
I also created a Theater and Film Program at Experience Arts School where students ages 5- adult could take classes (group or private) or join an acting company for regular performance gigs. I directed multiple musicals during this time. My company competed with the AZ Thespians and took home many superior scores.
Personally, I have been acting for 25 years in the Mid and Southwest, studied theater at UWOshkosh, Film at Scottsdale CC, improv with iO i
n Chicago, and Meisner with The renowned Kevin Phipps. I was part of a musical repertory company based in Utah for 8 months, traveled around the Phoenix valley performing in 8 different dinner theaters for 8 years, and have produced and directed multiple professional music videos for Soundwaves Productions in Gilbert.
I believe that each actor learns differently, and the best way is to become well-rounded in your training to discover what works best for you. I have become very well trained in identifying strengths and weaknesses in actors, and will work with you on the best technique to suit your needs and style.
Classes I have created curriculum for/taught include: Monologues Auditioning for theater and film Script Analysis Beginning- Advanced Improv Beginning- Advanced Scene Acting Uta Hagen's Repertoire Acting for Film Voice and Diction Music Video Creation Musical Theater Acting/Dance
My daughter raves about her lessons with Rebecca. She gets in the car and is always so excited to tell me what she did or learned, and when she practices I can see things click and improve. It’s so refreshing to see her passion and satisfaction in the learning process. Clearly she has a gift for teaching and inspiring teenagers, because I never see Anna work this hard. Thank you for all you do!
August 29, 2019
Rebecca is kind, instructive, and helpful. She Has helped me improve my acting as well as set up a demo reel that I'm thrilled with.
August 27, 2019
I enjoy my class every time I go. Rebecca is a fun teacher, even though she keeps me focused. We are always thinking outside the box on how to make class better for me personally. I like that she is flexible and cares about how I learn. One of the things I appreciate most is that she points out what I do well and what I should improve in, whereas some of my teachers in the past only focus on one or the other.
In this lesson I’ll help you make character choices for any upcoming show or audition. Have an audition coming up? Bring your monologue or song you’re using and let’s find the best way to make the directors feel what you’d like them to so that you can get that role! Just starting out? Let’s work on the basics so that you feel confident enough to go and audition for your first show!

If you have any questions please let me know! I’m looking forward to working with you!
Brad was really fun to work with, has a true teaching gift, and taught a huge amount of information in a small amount of time.
July 3, 2019
I’ve gone to Brad before the last 3 auditions I did and he has helped tremendously. He’s very knowledgeable when it comes to understanding a monologue. Brad cares about this art form and thinks far beyond just saying lines with an emotion and it shows. I highly recommend you ask him for help on your next audition.
July 2, 2019
Brad has been my daughter’s (age 13) improv teacher for a year. It has been such a great experience for her! Brad is patient, encouraging, and fun. His wit resonates so well with her and his example and prompting have not only helped her with improv, but also with how she responds and interacts with others in general. He communicates in a way that she understands and helps her to feel confident in expressing herself (no fear of repercussions or embarrassment) - easy-going and in a way that has helped her grow. Five plus plus stars!!
As a creative art therapist specializing in drama therapy, you will expand and build a deeper craft personally and professionally. Build characters from scratch and reach a quicker perspective when on auditions. I am trained in Uta Hagen and Meisner technique. You will laugh cry and learn spontaneity as I work on the inner and outer you!

"Christine pays attention to the needs and level of understanding of each student. The ways she has taken time to instruct me, have not only taken me to an
other level, but then she'll turn around and explain it to the class, taking us all to another level as a group. She does in one class what some instructors I've had in NYC couldn't do in a month. She's patient and a great listener, which helps make her instruction so clear and incredibly effective. Including classes I've taken in LA, NYC, Indiana and Florida, Christine Alexander is easily the best Improv instructor I've ever had."
"Love the lesson!"
"So far so great"
Gina Beck, Class Coordinator for CYT Chicago
