Suzuki Method

About Dan
I am a member of the Chicago Northwest Symphony Orchestra. I have been instructing students from kindergarten to high-school all over Chicago area for the past thirteen years. My highest accomplishment is having a high-school sophomore student playing first chair first violin on Chamber Orchestra and third chair first violin in Symphonic Orchestra at Maine Township High School, Park Ridge, Illinois. Other accomplishments are having students prepared for Granquist Memorial Music Competition, Geneva Illinois.

My lessons are always focused on adapting the violin practice to fit the character of the individual student. Besides learning good violin performance practices, the student will shape up character by developing strengthening the brain which will help in development of overall cognitive activity.

Learning to play violin not only
opens the mind for greater understanding of artistic expressions but also adds to the quality of experiencing life more complex otherwise not possible in absence of music.

So far so good, I cannot complain about anything. Dan's approach is different of which I like. He really wants you to master the basics. So when the more complicated finger placements come, you'll be able to float along without thinking. An A++ t e a c h e r without a doubt. I would recommend him any day of the week.

I am happy to leave a very positive review for Dan! I am an adult beginner, and when looking for a violin teacher, I wanted to find someone with professionalism, a good knowledge of the violin, and of course, patience. My grown children had a variety of violin and piano teachers while growing up and I wish I was able to find someone like Dan for them at the time. My two daughters had piano instruction with an intense, very experienced pianist at a prestigious music school. They learned excellent technique, but it was very stressful and only one continues to play as an adult for pleasure. I am so impressed with how Dan has concentrated on a strong foundation of proper violin technique in a patient, gentle manner. I highly recommend him for students of any age. I recommended him to my daughter for my granddaughter who is 6 years old. His studio would be far for my daughter to get to, but it would be well worth the commute!

Teaching is one of my greatest joys! All ages are welcome to study with me. It is my calling to work with all students' experiences and goals, such as competing in conservatory auditions, playing your favorite songs, or having an interest in the instrument with a completely clean slate.

“Talent” is a widely misunderstood concept. As a teacher, I don't believe talent is born. Talent is an artful skill. This skill is made through practice: concentrated sessions of mindful repetition, silent awareness, and craft. Anyone can learn an instrument with the right mindset and the right instruction.

My lessons are designed to develop the musical potential that every student has by guiding students to produce their most beautiful sound and feel a balanced and natural comfort with their instrument. Students develop a thorough understanding of the relationship between anatomy and sound for optimum technique, and how to practice efficiently and independently. In other words, my students ...

I have been teaching classical violin for over 6 years, and have found the Suzuki method to be quite reliable. This method uses listening/ear training, repetition, and encouragement to help students develop technique while cultivating an extensive repertoire of music. I supplement my Suzuki lessons with basic theory, note reading, and an emphasis on practice techniques and artistry, and encourage experienced students to explore classical and traditional repertoire outside of the Suzuki method.

About Miriam-Rose
Hello! My name is Miriam-Rose, and I have been teaching violin/fiddle to students of all levels and ages for over six years. I was trained classically in the Suzuki method from a very young age, and also have a significant background in traditional music, specifically Scottish fiddle. During my time at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, I created my own degree with a focus on Scottish music, and also became the third place winner of the 2012 National Scottish Fiddle Championship.

In addition to my background in music, I have a degree in Ballet Performance from the Jacobs School of Music. I have been teaching ballet since 2010, and have taught and danced professionally here in the Chicago area since 2013.

Thanks, and I look forward to working with you!

Very good at explaining concepts in a second, or sometimes third, way so that her student can make an inner connection. I also admire the way she organizes her lessons so we refresh and enhance the previous session and then move on to new technique. Appreciate the professional way she communicates as necessary outside class, too.

It is important for me to teach the building blocks of music: scales, circle of fifths, and working with technique to make learning pieces easier. We will teach you about the parts of your instrument inside and out and even stretching methods to help keep you limber to prevent any injury. I teach not only classical music, but also jazz, rock, and contemporary. Keeping my students engaged and passionate about what they are learning is key.

About Sage
As a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music, I attended the most prestigious contemporary music school in the world. I was exposed to so many amazing styles of music and rubbed shoulders with the most incredible musicians you can imagine (and performed alongside them)! I have taken my experiences and knowledge from Berklee and infused it into my teaching style. I do use Suzuki method because I believe it is an excellent foundation to work upon, but I also think that jazz and contemporary studies are a great way to expand one's horizon and learn about music in an entirely new and fun way!

Never too late to begin learning/relearning (classical/pop) violin! My lessons focus on both sightreading and aural skills to make a well-rounded musician.

I make sure I am meeting the specific needs of each student, help them reach their individual goals, and most importantly, make lessons fun.

About Eric
I enjoy sharing my love of music by helping others embark on their musical journeys. I am a strong supporter of using a combination of aural training and sightreading to boost musicality and finesse.

In the past 6 years, I have taught students of all ages, ranging from children to seniors. You are never ever too old to learn the piano or the violin. You may not be the next Chopin, but with practice and dedication, you will eventually be able to play the mass majority of piano/violin repertoire.

Strong fundamentals (scales/chords/arpeggios) are important, but I also remember to make music fun and not boring by providing diverse selections of supplemental (pop/ragtime/blues) pieces.

Experienced lesson teacher for 6 years in beginner/intermediate/advanced violin and also beginner/intermediate in voice, piano, viola, cello, and guitar. My string students along with learning skills to help them perform in Orchestra will also learn solo technique. I work with Suzuki method and Essential Elements for strings along with using other genres of music. Students will have fun while also learning music reading, theory and technique.

About Felicia
I graduated with a bachelors in music education at Western Illinois University in 2012. At the university I received talent grants to play in the symphony orchestra as a violinist, I also sang in the school of music top choir. After graduating I immediately was offered a position at a music studio in Geneva and have been successfully working for them for the last 5 years. For the last 3 years I have worked at a middle school in Elmhurst as a choir director and also was the vocal director for 3 musicals and head director for 2 plays. I have background with special education students from ages 5-13.

Although I am primarily a violinist and vocalist I also teach up to intermediate in piano, viola, cello, and acoustic guitar at the music studio. I believe that it is important for the student to be able to learn music theory at their skill l
