Every genre of music has a unique musical vocabulary and style that defines it. Some of the characteristics of country music are developed from the blues and American and Latin folk music. Developing a strong sense of rhythm and timing is one of the most important bridges to cross.
When learning a specific style of music, it is important to dissect it and figure out what makes it tick. We will listen to your favorite songs and to some of the great songwriters of the genre and learn from imitating their styles.

I have had the great opportunity to teach all levels for over 15 years in the United Kingdom, South Africa and the USA. I have held positions as guitar teacher at many Colleges, Universities and Companies around the UK and USA. I have worked in the distant learning department at the Manhattan School of Music, teaching students around the country from their studio base. With many of my students going onto music schools such as The New School, NYC, Queens College, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire I believe that I have a wide range of experience with all age ranges from beginners to beyond advanced. I focus on making the lessons as fun and engaging as possible whilst keeping on track to certain goals set by myself and the student throughout the year.

Each student learns at different levels so all lessons are customized to challenge them but also insure they learn and retain all materials presented to them.

When selecting a teacher, make arrangements to meet in person to review short and long term goals of learning a musical instrument. Pricing should only be used as the last criteria before making a final decision. It's important to insure your instructor is patient and willing to challenge students to setup a practice routine that will fit their current schedule.

If a student needs an instrument, have instructor give recommendations based on the musical styles they are interested in learning.

I am a Chicago-based guitarist and composer with a style rooted in the jazz tradition but flavored with other styles.I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in instrumental performance from Columbia College in Chicago where I studied jazz guitar and theory with Frank Dawson.

As a trained musician with a degree in music as well as a lot of professional playing experience, I offer a unique perspective to teaching guitar, both as a guitarist and a passionate educator.

I played in a few professional bands and wrote a lot of original music.
I also wrote score/soundtrack for two films.
