About Angela
Hi! My name is Angela, and I teach private piano, voice, and theory lessons. I love teaching, and have taught many ages (3 to 93) and ability levels (novice to advanced). I am a dependable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic teacher. I offer lessons for 30, 45, or 60-minute weekly sessions in my home studio. I do not offer bi-weekly lessons or lessons in the student's home.

My home is a split-level, with my private living area above and my music studio below. There is a waiting area just outside the music studio, as well as a half-bath specifically designated for students and parents. The studio itself contains a piano and organ, my personal music library, and additional seating for parents. There is a full-length mirror for vocal students to watch their performance skills grow, and a gumball machine for when younger students have an exce
ptionally good lesson.

Making music is a skill which can bring lifelong joy to the musician as well as everyone around them. While I can easily ensure that my students enjoy music-making while they are taking lessons, my ultimate goal is that students continue to want to make music throughout their entire life, even after they stop taking lessons. I firmly believe that my job as a teacher is to train my students to be independent and self-sufficient musicians. Many teachers teach by rote, playing a passage to a student and then having the student play it back. Though this method is helpful in some situations, students who are taught in this manner often find that they are only able to play the songs taught to them in lessons, and that to learn a new song they must have a teacher by their side showing them how the song goes. In my lessons, however, students are taught to learn their own music through sight-reading, ear-training, music theory, and listening to and critiquing their own playing. Over time, this allows the student more and more freedom to make music without a teacher.

I am adding a review to override my original 4 star review to a 5 star review. My husband and I have been voice and piano students of Angela for well over a year now and she makes learning music interesting, fun, and challenging. It's intimidating to learn these skills (especially singing) as an adult but she is such a good teacher that we continue to look forward to our lessons and really enjoy learning these skills. She is encouraging and an excellent coach.

About Jessie
I hold a Masters of Music in Violin Pedagogy from Boise State University. I have been playing the violin for eighteen years. I have performed in a variety of ensembles from 180-person full orchestra and chorus in Eisenstadt, Austria, to a string quartet in a Beatles tribute band. I have been teaching private lessons for about eight years, mostly to beginning and intermediate level students.

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach primarily from the Suzuki violin method with some additional resources to create a well-rounded knowledge of the violin. In addition to learning to play certain pieces on the violin students will develop various basic music skills and techniques, such as a theory and history of music. The main goal of my teaching, however, is to instill a love of music and the arts in each and every student I teach.

*** Studio Equi
pment ***
My home studio is equipped with a piano, music stand, music theory and ear training games, as well as a vast library of method books and supplemental materials.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide lesson plans and some technology. I expect students to have their own instruments and cleaning materials, as well as the appropriate music. Occasionally we will need access to a piano. If there is no piano at the student's home we will need to meet at a location to practice with one.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in the Suzuki violin method.

Very patient and professional

Jessie is very patient, professional, flexible. I'm a college student and busy with school work, but I still learned a lot from her, not only in violin skills, but also music theory and so on. She also teaches me how to practice instead of just showing me the pieces.

Gives you confidence in your own abilities

Jessie taught my daughter from June 2011-Dec 2012. She has been an excellent teacher for my 4 year old. It is really a challenge to keep kids focused at this age and Jessie was always up for the challenge. She simplified things down to really basic tasks that the kids can do and more importantly enjoy the learning experience.

During the period our little girl developed the confidence to play in front of a large audience. She could compose her own variations and play it with authority.

Jessie was always on time and professional with her approach. She always brought prints for parents to follow through on the lessons. It made practices at home really simple for us. We could see progress in our daughter's abilities every week.

We felt sorry that we could not continue on with her because of us relocating to a different city and her move as well. I would greatly recommend her for your violin lessons.

About David
Composer and guitarist David began formal music training at the age of 5 on the drums. He taught himself guitar as a teenager and began playing in local rock bands. Initially entering college as a Journalism major, his passion for music led him to Meramec College where he studied Music Theory with Robert C. Howard and classical guitar with Larry Bolles. From 1990 through 1993, he attended Webster University, and became only the second composer in the school's history to receive the BM/MM Scholarship. While at Webster, he studied composition with Dr. Kendall Stallings, Robert Chamberlin, and Kim Portnoy, Jazz History with Paul Demarinis, and 18th Century Counterpoint with Dr. Eloise Jarvis. During his education, he performed with many student ensembles and sat in on master classes by the great sitarist and surbaharist, Imrat Khan and jazz
guitarist Peter Leitch.

In 1993 he started St. Louis SoundWorks with Grammy nominated Adam Long and Mark McClanahan that specialized in mobile recording, and composing music for films and commercials.

As a musician, David has composed over 200 pieces for various instruments and combinations from small chamber ensembles to full orchestra. He was bandleader of two creative ensembles that focused on alternative notation compositions and improvised music, and later co-founded the avant-garde influenced rock band Diverted Course which released two CD's.

As a teacher, David has taught classical guitar and musicianship as an adjunct faculty member at Meramec College and Webster University. He has given seminars on the music of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, and Anthony Braxton. He has been teaching privately for 23 years and many of his students have gone on to successful music careers and performed all over the world.

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach students of all ages in a fun and positive manner. I am flexible and will tailor the lessons to satisfy your own individual goals. Whether you are a beginner that wants to gain a foundation in technique, sight reading, and basic theory or an intermediate or more advanced player that wants to increase their knowledge and polish their skills, I will devise a plan to meet your needs. I encourage regular practice and like my students to keep a journal to monitor their progress.

I teach a variety of styles including classical guitar, blues, rock, jazz, and avant-garde.

Ultimately, I believe everyone needs a creative outlet, a way to express themselves, and has something unique to say, and I aim to help those students find their own voice.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Extra guitars and amps at both places. Mixing board at the studio. Only has a upright piano at his home address but has a keyboard at studio

*** Travel Equipment ***
Expect my students to provide the guitar. Amplification is optional.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, jazz, rock, blues, and avant-garde.

Dave has been able to take me on a great journey! We have covered many kinds of music, and I'm greatly appreciative of his patience and encouragement. He was able to tell after just a couple of lessons that my original plans for getting lessons was never going to be enough. He introduced several topics, and whetted my appetite for more! If only all teachers could open doors this way!!!

I hold a doctorate degree in Music and specialize in teaching classical music from the Renaissance period, Baroque, classical periods, as well as pop and broadway. I teach all voice types, with expertise in mezzo soprano and countertenor literature, but vast knowledge in all. I use proven vocal techniques along side vocal yoga practices to help people to find their true, natural voice.

I have considerable experience training those with disabilities, mental illnesses, and performance anxiety. I teach holistically, believing the voice to be an instrument inseparable from the person. With all students we endeavor to sing healthily, preserving voices for longevity, and to meet whatever goals the students desire. I am studied in the Bel Canto, Lamberti, and Concone technique and have successfully prepared many students for auditions, cont

Dr Aria is a wonderful teacher. She is knowledgeable of course, but even more importantly Aria is a gentle, understanding, and talented teacher. I have enjoyed every moment with her and have definitely improved my vocal skills. By the way, I am myself an experienced music teachet and have never had a better teacher than Dr Aria. As I’ve said, some teach because that’s what they do, but Aria teaches because that is who she is.

Hi, I'm a 25 year old saxophonist attending UMSL. I went to Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. I specialize in fundamentals, like technique, building a solid sound, and music theory. I also specialize in higher level playing such as jazz and improvising. I've been teaching lessons since I was a sophomore in high school. I have studied with the very best (Jim Odgren, Dino Govoni, Mike Lee, John Wojciechowski, Bob Mintzer, Marcus Strickland, to name a few). My teaching style is friendly and energetic; I want students to be excited about playing saxophone. It's my passion and I look forward to letting my students find their passion for music as well. I also work at a saxophone shop where I test out horns and mouthpieces and work with social media and sales.

My prices are negotiable! if you are having financial troubles I am

Sarah is very easy to work with, always interested in helping you the student have fun with the sax, as she has. Despite her great experience and background (or because of it?) she never seemed bored or working beneath herself with a beginner. I could say more, but I better take this time to practice!
