Playing the djembe is a great way to enter into the percussion world. There are many playing opportunities (if you're willing to look) to play with an ensemble such as a church band or jamming with friends. Everyone needs a good djembe player! In djembe lessons my goal is to teach you basic techniques, music theory, and rhythms to get you comfortable enough to use your djembe skills to perform confidently with a musical group.

About Suzanna

Hi there! I've been a percussionist for 13 year. In that time I've been a Texas middle school and high school percussion director, performed with premier college ensembles, played drum set, cajon, and djembe with multiple contemporary worship groups as well as concert percussion for multiple orches

I have been teaching for about 8 years with students ranging from beginner to advanced. All ages are welcome! I also welcome all different styles of music from rock, to jazz, and even classical. Each lesson is catered specifically to the student. I want each student to be able to reach their own specific goals, while having the time of their life!

About Sean

Drummer Sean Case, 31, started playing at age 7 when he began studying with Mark Foster, a local free-lance percussionist in the Denver area. After high school he enrolled at the Colburn Conservatory in LA, where he studied with Jack van Geem, former Principal Percussionist of the San Francisco Sym

Sean has been teaching my 10-year old son percussion for almost two years. Before covid, my son had lessons in-person. Since covid, my son has been doing lessons online. Sean has done an amazing job teaching my son in-person and online.

Sean really knows percussion. I've witnessed this both during lessons and when my family watched him perform with the Lone Tree Symphony. Sean is wonderful with kids. Although my son has attention issues, Sean is extremely patient, and he is able to efficiently redirect and focus my son. With Sean, music lessons are enjoyable. He has taken the time to get to know my son and how my son learns. I feel like the lessons are tailored extremely well for my child's abilities. Best of all, Sean is just a wonderful person. He's easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor. My son looks forward to his lessons with Sean each week. You won't find a better percussion instructor!

About Peter

I am a student of various great drum teachers from many backgrounds. Experienced players enjoy jamming with me, but I have been told that I am especially gifted at helping beginners feel comfortable finding rhythms and sounds out of any instrument, including the human body. I will definitely be expanding my accordion skills & of music theory . I’ll also be adding some 😎 Jazz Standards to my repertoire ☺️.
Kelly S.
Karen was not prepared for the lesson. She spent 15 minutes trying to send me photos from a beginner Tabla book available on Amazon. She did not own a set of Tabla drums. She ensured me she could teach anything, but could not pronounce the words used for proper Tabla technique, knew no history and could not even teach me to tune. She literally was reading out of the book figuring it out along the way. I lost a lot of trust from this and asked for a full refund for future lessons.

"I started lessons with Kevin knowing nothing about playing the Djembe. He made broke down the fundamentals and made it easy to learn the basics and then build from them. He gives lots of great advice which helped me get engaged in a local women's drumming group. I credit Kevin's great lessons for getting advanced in that group (Women's Drumming Center/Minneapolis) to the more experienced drum circle. I would recommend Kevin to anyone who wants to take up playing drums of any kind."
