I can help you with accent reduction. I have taught many ESL, ESOL, TOEFL, IELTS and TOEIC students to improve their speaking, listening, writing and reading comprehension. I will cover accent reduction, phonemes, graphemes, tongue position and common mistakes made by various nationalities. These are my specialty regions:

This is one of my absolute passions! Did you know that “regionally specific dialects” change approximately every 20 miles? Part of my vocal training included a deep dive into dialects or accents, how to master them and how to lose them. This is so much easier than you may think! It’s all about small modifications, mostly in the mouth and jaw that can completely change the way you sound.

How many sessions you need really depends on how much work you’re willing to put in between sessions. I can give you the keys, but this is really a case of practice makes perfect. If you find you’re not booking because of your accent, let me help you master “LA speak” otherwise known as the “non-regionally specific U.S. dialect”.

If typical approaches to English pronunciation don't work for you, I can help. My approach is physical as opposed to learning by hearing and imitating sounds. I have worked with seasoned professionals as well as newly arrived immigrants just beginning to learn English. My students often have a strong command of the language, but are concerned that they aren't being fully heard and understood. You will find a pleasant and supportive studio where I create an individualized plan tailored to your goals and needs. I have taught this subject for over eight years to public and private causes, as library, individuals, and language schools. My emphasis is an ecological approximation of the various sounds, rhythms, inflections, and patterns the spoken language integrates.
The goal is to develop a comprehensive, systematic voice/accent profile based on lesson/MP3 recordings using digital audio monitoring software. Students obtain a repository of audio files during each lesson to be used for actively evaluating individual expression while waiting in line, traffic, and during breaks. In accent reduction lessons we will work on correct pronunciation in English. Depending on the student's specific needs, we will focus on vowels, consonants, and proper syllabic accenting (where the stress occurs in a particular word). Learning a new language at times can be quite frustrating, but my methods center around practical, real-world use of the English language to maximize our lessons.
