My practice is based in a firm understanding of the laryngeal anatomy and a background in pedagogy the emphasizes a learning module. Clients learn to form new neural pathways to create sounds and shapes more consistent with their preferred spoken language. I also work with cases of jaw tension, and muscle tension dysphonia--both of which can make speaking and accent reduction difficult.

I am a Chinese native speaker with a Master degree in Education. I've also got a teaching credential to teach in public schools in China. I am experienced in customizing lessons for both children and adults. In my class, students' "needs" and "wants" are prioritized. It helps students achieve their goals while combined with students' "lacks" in lesson planning. Therefore, I've gained a lot of successful teaching experiences in designing lessons targeting students' goals and expectations. My Chinese class has covered topics from kids Chinese to adult Business Chinese.

I want my students to feel relaxed and comfortable learning with me! It is hard to learn a language when you feel self-conscious about how you sound. See you soon! ¡Te veo pronto!

The technique Maria teaches emphasizes using the weight of the body to produce sound while keeping the hands and arms relaxed and fluid, which not only produces a most beautiful and expressive tone, but protects the body from injury. Although similar to the Lhevinne technique, Maria’s technique takes it to higher level. Many piano teachers do not teach a technique but, in my opinion, solid technique is critical for an advanced student and best learned from the beginning.
Maria is patient and detail oriented and teaches all aspects piano with mastery. I highly recommend her.
