I have been teaching piano for over 15 years and helped a lot of students to get their piano skills polished. My teaching method is based on Russian classical school and I am happy to share it with everybody who is interested. I custom design my piano lessons that corresponds to each student's ability and experience.

Hey there – I am so glad that you want to study piano! A little bit about me: I am a graduate of the world-renowned jazz program at the Jacobs School of Music and have been teaching for 8 years. I have experience with many styles and genres and have been fortunate to play with artists from over 20 countries. My work has been featured in NPR’s Jazz Critic’s Poll, Jazziz Magazine, and All About Jazz, and I was recently chosen to be a cultural ambassador for the U.S. State Department’s global music fellowship (OneBeat). A little bit about my piano methods: For beginner piano students, I start with exploring the "anatomy" of the keyboard so we can delve right away into learning simple arrangements of your favorite songs. Pick any song you like, and I'll work with you to learn it by ear! Over time, I will teach you more technical exercises, scales, and ways to start reading music. I can also be an ally for intermediate students who wish to delve into learning harder pieces by ear or by ...

Hannah is fantastic! She adeptly engages and teaches my two kiddos (7 and 10) and husband (40ish :)

Hannah has a rare ability to combine an incredible warmth with a wealth of exercises for improvement. The exercises were truly specifically directed toward the student. In my son’s case, he said this first lesson was also the first time he felt emotionally connected to the upright bass the same was he has in the past with piano and voice. He’s truly an emotionally connected person when it comes to music, yet he’s also a very quick thinker and Hannah could tell when he was able to hold multiple ideas at once. She also acknowledged his joy when it did come. There was a lot of technical knowledge he needed that were holes in instruction and Hannah sussed them out and somehow knew - even though the lesson was online - she knew his cues where it was time to move on or switch things up, or perhaps to add something. I cannot wait to hear the improved sound coming from my son’s right hand technique, now possessing depth and lovely tone that I knew he had in him, but knew also he needed the right instructor to draw out. We are so grateful Hannah is now in our lives in the role of a teacher and hopefully will become a mentor and another adult to look toward for balancing the discipline and enthusiasm music can bring to human beings.

At first I was skeptical about taking online lessons, but I love taking lessons with Hannah. I'm a classical bassist starting to learn jazz, and Hannah is providing exactly what I was hoping for in starting my jazz career. The first lesson we went over what my goals are, and she is providing me with exactly the tools that I need to progress. Every week she sends me a personalized document of what we went over in lessons, what I should focus on in the coming week, and music resources (exercises, jazz charts, etc) to utilize! She is patient, kind, knowledgeable in both technique and theory, and pushes me every lesson.

I have been teaching piano professionally for 6 years, beginner/intermediate students. I have a specific teaching curriculum with an emphasis on proper technique, ear training and performance. Lessons are customized to each student needs and goals. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to read music notes, play basic scales and chords, and play a song from memory. I love working with students of all ages, and I can't wait to meet you!

About Kristiana

Born in Greece and raised in Albania, I started piano lessons with my mother when i was three, and formal lessons at age six at the Epirotic Conservatory of Ioannina, (Greece) with Aspasia Zerva (and with my mother as well). With the support of the Tsakalof Institute, I had my first recital with an

Ms. Kristiana brings our family the joy of playing and practicing piano. Both my 5 year old daughter and I are her students. Ms. Kristiana knows how to motivate young piano players as well as accommodate and respect and help adult players trying to pick up piano again. As for kids, she is extremely patient, kind, open minded and fun. She made my daughter feel comfortable from the trial lesson and their teacher-student dynamic improves with each lesson.

Starting piano lessons as an elementary school student, I studied for 13 years. Since then, my piano skills have gotten rusty, but Ms. Kristiana has helped me start back up again. She came up with a plan with a practice book and a piece book that I can enjoy, and she also helped me learn the piece I had been longing to learn. Maybe that piece is above my level at this point, but she patiently guided me to go through it and now I am half way to mastering it.

We are glad to have met her and to be under her guidance.

My son enjoys his music lessons with Jonathan, who is infinitely patient teaching what can be a challenging instrument. My son responds well to Jonathan's instruction, and he appreciates having access to a professional performer as a teacher. Jonathan encourages my son to learn a variety of music, including both challenging classical pieces and more recognizable popular and jazz pieces, which helps to sustain his interest in the lessons.

I have created and illustrated a music method to teach perfect pitch. It is multisensory, multi-instrumental, whole-brain learning that teaches a student to: 1) Hear and identify the pitch and name of each note, 2) learn to read music with full color notes, 3) Learn to play faster and more difficult music easily. I have a Doctorate degree in music, and my method has been independently evaluated in a scientific study. It has been proven to teach perfect pitch on 3 or more notes within 12 months, with many learning it on all 12 notes in that time. This skill is the "secret sauce" of Music prodigies. Musicians with perfect pitch training as a part of their lessons learn up to 127% faster, and retain the information more easily. My lessons begin with a personality type and learning style evaluation, and a plan for custom-tailored lessons. I have been teaching piano, voice, and flute for 39 years, and am a Certified Master Teacher.

Angela is extremely knowledgeable in all things voice and instrument. She is very talented in both singing and teaching. I took voice lessons from her & I can say I learned so much about technique, breathing, & how to care for my vocals. Angela taught me to embrace my range & love my voice. She is a great teacher I would recommend her to anyone that wants to learn more in this area.

The many things my child has learned include, but are not limited to, how to read treble and bass clef, proper sitting and body posture, left and right hand finger techniques for scales and arpeggios, and how to play chords. Along with this training, he also encourages my child to have creative freedom - to enjoy music by playing songs she has either composed herself or heard outside of lessons."

How Often Should You Tune a Piano?

Wondering about the average piano tuning cost, or how often you should tune a piano? You've come to the right place! Just as you go to the doctor for check-ups from time to time, your piano needs maintenance and care throughout its life. You may notice, especially if you have a keen ear, that your piano drops in pitch particularly during the summer and winter months. This is because your piano is mostly made of wood, and your wooden soundboard will contract when the weather is drier -- or the …
