1. Working in a smart way so you would reach the best from your potential in a comfortable way.
2. Understanding that each person is unique and in that matters, the way of learning, of relating with the teacher and approaching to the violin playing.
3. Having fun while practicing and during the lesson.

About Carolina

Carolina is a dedicated and versatile music teacher, with wide ranging experience and a passion for helping people grow and fill their potential. She got her Bachelor’s degree in her hometown Colombia from the Fundación Universitaria Juan N Corpas and her Master’s Degree from DePaul University.

I love the viola; I'm primarily a violist and love nothing more. I would love to share my passion with you or your child!

I have a Master's degree in Viola Performance, and viola is my primary instrument. I have received extensive instruction on the minutiae of the viola, and can help you with any need that you many have!

I tailor my approach to each student. Some students require more technical work, some require interpretive. Both are fascinating and can be taught with structure and clarity.

About Martina

Hi! My name is Martina and I am a classically trained violist. For my background, I received a Master of Music from Roosevelt University, where I studied with Lawrence Neuman of the Chicago Symphony. I received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin with Sally Chisholm of the Pro

Viola can be an exciting instrument to learn and master. So how you get there is up to you, but practice is required to succeed with any instrument. Taking lessons with me, you'll be provided with technique that was developed by esteemed artists and pioneers, such as Lionel Tertis. I have a B.Mus in Performance from Northern Illinois where I studied with the very talented and musical, Anthony DeVroye of the Avalon String Quartet. Additionally, I've attended the Chicago College of Performing Arts and studied there with Lawrence Neuman of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Roger Chase -a former student of Tertis- who is a major figure in the Viola world for his artistry and masterful control of the viola.
The study of chamber music has afforded me the honor of working with even more musicians, including Shmeul Ashkenasi and Mathias Tacke, both of the Vermeer Quartet.
Should a student decide to take lessons with me, we will begin on laying a solid foundation of technique on top of ...

I have always loved the deeper sound and colors that the viola produces. I must admit that when picking my professional violin, I really wanted and looked for an instrument that had many of the tonal properties of the viola! I've taught viola since 1965 and many of my students have received degrees in viola as well as scholarships to music camps and universities. I've performed on the viola many times in various ensembles and always enjoyed the deeper and special qualities of sounds that only a viola can produce. Our first lesson together will include helping each student be more comfortable while playing, after that, within the first year of study, a full understanding of how to make a beautiful, rich tone with vibrato and ability to move freely through the first 3 positions with good intonation and ease of movement. Most violists that I have worked with have a special love for their viola and have a passion for its performance. In our lessons together, you will learn how to ...

Viola jokes are for losers... I think viola has one of the most gorgeous tone in the entire orchestra family. I can work on solo pieces as well as chamber music / orchestral excerpts of your choice.

"Couldn't have asked for more!

We found Jessica through the Suzuki Association Directory. I was looking for a teacher that taught through the Suzuki method and she ended up being a perfect fit for my VERY energetic son. Patient, flexible (lessons in our home), laidback and even willing to drop by on her free time to fix a few broken strings and stray bridges
We could definitely hear my sons progress after each lesson...very pleased and would definitely recommend!!! :-)"
