I am a private music instructor specializing in woodwind instruments looking to take on clarinet, flute and saxophone students!

My lessons consist of a well balanced coverage of exercises (scales, note patterns, etudes, duets, major repertoire, etc) geared towards building a solid foundation in playing technique. This allows each student to be accurate and expressive with a sense of ease in their playing! Students of the studio are also thrown into the world of music! They are strongly encouraged to attend concerts, listen to music regularly, and attend masterclasses. The goal is not just to learn an instrument, but to also develop a life-long love and appreciation for music!

My background in clarinet performance is quite unique in that I began studying clarinet as a senior in high school, rather than as a middle schooler like most. This forced me to improve at a much accelerated pace as I worked through my undergrad degree in clarinet performance. This involved a very aggressive approach to practicing and performance that focuses on fundamentals like embouchure, articulation and breathing, while also studying a wide range of clarinet repertoire. I apply this approach to my clarinet teaching allowing students of all ages to make very quick improvement as a clarinetist while also learning about music theory, music history and developing a love for music that will last well beyond their time as my student.

I hold a masters degree in music from the University of Michigan, and have 10+ years of experience teaching students from beginner through advanced playing levels. I am committed to providing each student with the opportunity to develop technical skills and musical expression through the exploration of scales, exercises, etudes, solos and duets.

I have been playing clarinet for twelve years and have taught students of all ages and levels. In my lessons we will work on basic fundamental techniques (breathing, technique, etc) while also learning pieces that you can bring home and play for your family. I believe playing the clarinet is something that gives people the ability to increase their creativity level, confidence, and individual expression which is important to our daily lives. I want my students to be able to grow as individuals and learn to have fun with music through playing the clarinet!
