Being currently and primarily a bassist, I can understand very well the early challenges of bass playing, the learning curve, and the fun of it. I’m well educated in many diverse styles of music in which the bass is involved (almost all) I not only will pass on my years of knowledge to you but try to pass the feeling of why I love my role as a bassist, on to you!

About Jairo

Anyone can learn to play an instrument! I’m a professional musician specializing in guitar and bass since the age of 12. By 16 I was my music instructor’s bassist in his band. Played the Copacabana club in NYC at 16. I went to Musicians Institute College Of Contemporary Music, and majored in Music

Mark has been a great teacher for this adult beginner! I take lessons in clawhammer banjo and ukulele with him, and his easy-going nature and skill in identifying ways to improve make it a joyful experience! Highly recommend.

Mr. Sylvester is one of the greatest. He is not just an amazing guitarist, but he is also very kind. He treats people with so much respect. He speaks to me and my mom so nicely. He is very patient. He has a deep knowledge of music and knows how to get the most out of even the least talented people (like me!). He doesn't ever get mad if you make a mistake or forget to bring your music notes. We were so lucky to find Mr. Sylvester.

Mark is a talented musician who plays and teaches multiple stringed instruments. His lessons are always informative and supportive. They are driven by the student’s interest, so anything you want o learn— styles of music, how to do a particular technique, music theory— you can bring to class. And every now and then he organizes a recital— terrifying but great practice!

The bass is so under rated. Musicians may crack jokes about us, but you know what we bassists have? Gigs. Bassists get gigs.

People talk like the bass is so boring because we play repetitive bass lines, but guess what? Outside the solos, all the other instruments play repetitive things too. So don't let that push you away. Bassists may think they don't get the spotlight often because of a lack of solos, but, most bassists don't play like they are in the spotlight. Go watch Steve Harris, Flea, or Joe Dart command the stage, even with their repetitive basslines.

The bass and drums are two of the best instruments to learn if your goal is to play with a group. Drums and bass are almost exclusively support musicians, rely extremely heavily on rhythm and are the ones really driving a band.

With most modern music (pop, rock, blues, metal, folk, rap, etc.) there are only a handful of basic patterns and chord progressions that get used. Like no matter what kind of building is ...

I'm Ahmad a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself guitar at the age of 12. I moved to the U.S. in 2001 and studied music for 15 years receiving my B.M. and M.M in music and audio production at San Francisco State University. I then moved to Los Angeles then studied and trained with John Mayer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and many others. I have performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well in Europe and the Middle East with Artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt, Sammy Hagar, Dokken and many others. I ranked #1 in the Slash Guitar Center competition. I was in the "list of top 5 guitar players ever" according to The Examiner, also picked as one of the best guitarists of 2013 and 2014 consecutively in the Rockwell UnScene magazine, and ranked 3rd in the Steve Vai Sam Ash Best in Shred competition.

I highly recommend taking guitar lessons with Ahmad. I've had instructors in the past who I realized weren't the best match for what I was I was trying to accomplish and the first lesson gave me the space to feel out if Ahmad was going to be a good match for me! After the first lesson I immediately knew Ahmad was going to be professional, skilled, easy to work with, and open-minded. I really appreciated that Ahmad was down to go outside of your standard lessons in music theory and cater my experience in a way that would fast track me to what I wanted to accomplish within my lessons. As a self-taught musician who has been playing in touring bands for about the last 4 years I had a lot of different strengths and weaknesses. Ahmad helped me hone in on areas that would allow me to boost my confidence in practices and live performances while developing skills to better communicate musically with my bandmates. I believe Ahmad is the perfect instructor for all skill levels and backgrounds. He is an extremely talented and versatile musician. In addition to his abilities as a musician and instructor, he is patient, easy to communicate with, motivating, and understanding.
Natasha
I purchased four weeks of lessons and loved working with Ahmad so much that I continued weekly sessions with him after! I am a beginner and Ahmad did an incredible job walking me through the basics but in a way that was still interesting - we chose songs that I actually wanted to learn and that made it much more fun to practice. He took advantage of every minute of the lesson and often times went over - really nice when you only have 30 minutes sessions. Plus he is hilarious! If you are thinking about taking lessons with Ahmad, no matter what level, do it! :)
Lawrence
Ahmad is a wonderful instructor and musician. He connects with people of all levels and is able to break down complicated ideas into more easily digestible pieces.

"Incredibly knowledgeable and versatile, yet perfectly personable, Theresa has been an absolute treasure of a teacher. From the very start, she has made the extra effort to relate our lessons to my particular musical interests and aspirations, while also just being tremendously fun to talk to. If she weren't the best music teacher I'd had the privilege of working with (which she certainly is), I'd probably still recommend her for the repartee alone."

"Tommy is a unique teacher in that he knows his craft very well and he also wants to teach it. He has tremendous empathy and patience and I grew as a musician under his leadership.
Tommy taught me bass for about a year and in that time I learned more about my bass and amps, how to play better and read and interpret music better, how to play better with others and even music theory (especially as it relates to bass playing).
And I thought I was just going to get bass lessons!!"

"At 61 years old I wanted a challenge, and that was to learn how to play the bass guitar. Having had absolutely no previous training, and being quite terrified, James gave me the confidence that this was possible to achieve.

His knowledge to teach a simple approach in the theory of music, his patience, and ability to instruct in a way that makes sense, made learning exciting for me.

Highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in going beyond what they think they're capable of in a caring one on one environment. :)"

"I had a week in Vegas set aside for a trade show, and wanted to also use the time to hunker down in my hotel room and work on my bass playing. I wanted to locate a teacher during that time to help me accelerate my playing over what I'd been able to figure out on my own, and I was extremely fortunate to be able to work in several lessons with Nick.

Nick's a terrific guy who's not only tremendously knowledgeable, but incredibly flexible in his teaching style and very quickly got me where I wanted to go. Thanks again, and my strongest possible recommendation!"
