Cello Lessons in Middleton. Amazing Teachers.

In my lessons, I strive to share my love of the cello and music! I treat every student of any age as an individual while inspiring them to love, feel, and connect to the music in a fun and hands-on way. I use my skills from my diverse musical background to cater to the needs of my students and enrich their musical understanding.

Cello:
A bowed or plucked string instrument with four strings tuned in perfect fifths. The strings from low to high are generally tuned to C2, G2, D3 and A3, an octave lower than the viola. It is a member of the violin family of musical instruments, which also includes the violin and viola and the double bass. The cello is used as a solo musical instrument, as well as in chamber music ensembles (e.g., string quartet), string orchestras, as a member of the string section of symphony orchestras, and some types of rock bands. It is the second-largest and second lowest (in pitch) bowed string instrument in the modern symphony orchestra, the double bass being the largest and having the lowest (deepest) pitch. Experienced Music teacher of 8 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of their instrument and theory skills. I specialize in all styles. Typically, I use a variety of method books to pick from to meet the needs of the students. I also have many tools available to use during lessons.
My students have gone on to NYSSMA and on to college auditions successfully!

In my teaching, I focus on developing strong technical foundation, which is crucial to develop at a very early stage for a future success, and nurturing students’ creativity and natural musical talents. As an active concert musican, I understand challenges that students may face in learning cello and how inspiring can be a productive practicing! I don't teach how to play and be dependant on a teacher, but rather how to analyze and enhance your practicing patterns, listen to yourself, think, be creative and independant: everything that encompasses joy of playing music

I help my students to build up their resume for university applications: audition to honor orchestras, win competitions, pass CM and RCM tests. As a passionate cello player, I want my students to have fun but also really understand their instrument and the music they are playing! Students will learn their scales through the circle of fifths, shifting positions, vibrato techniques, music theory, and performing with an accompanist. They are expected to have fun but to work hard - it’s totally worth it!

I love sharing my passion for music with all of my students - ages 5 through 72.

You can always recognize a skilled cellist. The music sounds smooth and graceful, the tone quality is lovely. Unskilled cellists just don’t sound the same. What’s the difference? Skill of course. The skill to play a very large instrument with relaxed hands and arms by using your core muscles to transfer your body weight through your arms and hands into the cello. Not every cello teacher knows how to teach that.

I believe that my unique combined musical and medical background makes me a better cello teacher. In addition to my graduate and undergraduate musical training and extensive musical experience, My knowledge of human anatomy and mechanics of how the body works can help you develop habits that will lead to the beautiful singing tone that’s makes the cello a favorite.
