About Arlys
Are you a singer or speaker who would like a more powerful, authentic voice? My focus is to assist you in finding an easier way to sustain your best posture, breath support, resonance and pitch control by bringing awareness to existing vocal habits while providing a hands-on experience adjusting those habits. My mission is to help you find your most relaxed & elongated posture, breath support, full resonance and best pitch control.

My specialty as a professional voice teacher is Contemporary Commercial Music [CCM] which encompasses genres & sub-genres from Pop, Country, Hip/Hop, Folk, Rock, R&B, Soul, Gospel, EDM [electronic dance music], etc.

I grew up singing freely and naturally until I destroyed my voice thru improper, frequent overuse. I believed my career was over, but it was just starting. Private lessons with vocal professio
nals coupled with academic studies rebuilt my perception of how I was generating sound and their training gave me back MY VOICE, for which I am forever grateful. I combine knowledge from these studies and my own vocal exploration to re-build my voice in exercises that I share with students of voice.

I CAN HELP YOU REACH YOUR GOALS: My cross-training in dance, yoga, Tai Chi, commercial & improvisational acting provides a well-rounded platform from which to deliver information, guide vocal explorers and also help develop talent.

EXPERIENCE:
* 20 years teaching experience
* 12 years living & working in Los Angeles
* A lifetime of performing experience
* 12 years personal private vocal studies master teachers of bel canto & contemporary singing techniques.

LIFE SKILLS: No matter the subject, my focus is also teach skills that can be extrapolated into any area of your life. Life Skills focuses on eradicating negative self-talk and expanding communication skills that help develop confidence, enhancing daily life.

Between performing and my own artistic studies, I have been taking the occasional private voice student since 1997, mostly via referrals from friends and other students. While living in California, one of my voice teachers requested me as her regular substitute at Culver City and Santa Monica Music Schools from 2008-2012, which I felt deeply honored. She said she trusted me with their voices, which encouraged me into full-time voice teaching practice. In June 2012, I returned to Minneapolis and began teaching in my home studio through music services like Take Lessons. Past projects include producing a vocal showcase at The Ritz Theater, musical direction & choreography for a school's 2016 production of the Wizard of Oz; assisting students to prepare for local & national auditions like La Banda, The Voice & American Idol; prepping singers for studio recordings and congratulating a new student who's stepped out of the chorus to land her first lead role!

I am forever grateful to all of my teachers, past and present, for their valuable gifts of knowledge, skill, grace and compassion.

ENJOY LIFE MORE! Singing & dancing improves our quality of life.

About Ilona
For my tutoring sessions I use skills that include goal-directedness, I teach how to organize learning in small steps and how to set them up; I always strive to motivate and engage my students to make the learning interesting and fun; I also use self-control skills to teach how to avoid distractions and I use different focusing strategies. I use positive mind set skills to teach how to use failures as a learning opportunities.

I have a Master's Degree (2012) in teaching English to speakers of other languages, and Bachelors in Music Education (2010), both from Florida Atlantic University, as well as degree in violin performance from Poland.
I studied piano in Poland for 10 years & taught both piano & violin for over 20 years. I also teach flute & cello for the past 5 years, as I studied them during my Music Education program.

I
teach music for over 24 years using the traditional and Suzuki methods. I am a fan of the Essential Elements 2000 for string instruments, and the Alfred's Piano Library for piano. Alfred's piano library can be used for any age as they also have books especially made for adult learners. I also like their music flash cards.
For teaching music theory I mostly used Master Theory.

I personalize every lesson, and always set goals for my students. Most of my violin students are members of the Florida Youth Orchestra as well as Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and my piano students participate in Pompano Beach competition and the annual Piano Guild auditions.
I teach any age and any level, and always stress that learning a new instrument is very similar to learning a new language, it needs a lot of patience, persistence and repetitions. My lessons are customized to my students needs, and are work in progress as they needs may change over time. I always remind my students that music can give them instant gratification when they learn to play favorite songs.
I always encourage my students to tell me about their music preferences, so I can incorporate them in their music lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
All my tutoring sessions include reviews of previously learned material and if possible the use of technology. I use students books but often bring extra study materials if necessary.
All my lessons include: technique: I like to use the Finger Power for piano students and Essential Elements for my string students, and scales for both.
music theory: I use Master Theory or other books such as Hal Leonard's Piano Note spellers & Piano Music Theory books for younger ages, music flash cards to support learning notes and musical terminology, and of course the fun part performance.

Besides Essential Elements 2000 for strings I also use String Tunes and Fiddle Runners to add more fun to the lessons. For piano students I use Holiday Treats book, which comes in 2 different levels: Beginner & Intermediate, so my students have a new songs for a specific holiday.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I always bring violin with me to be able to show what I teach.

*** Travel Equipment ***
The students needs to have their books and assigned material ready for tutoring. Instrumental students needs to have their music books & instrument available as well as a pencil. I always stress with my students to be organized and prepared for their lesson, this way they will be able to focus better during the lesson. I bring my violin with me. I also ask that the room where the lesson takes place to be free of any distractions, such other siblings or any other noise. The quiet environment helps in faster learning.

*** Specialties ***
I tutor most K-12 subjects and prepare students to take ACT, SAT, GRE tests.
Music genres: Classical, traditional, Suzuki, Popular, Celtic, fiddle, Blues

My GMAT journey began wth a large amount of frustration toward both the exam and the expectations I had set for myself. Leona was extremely patient and understanding of my schedule while I was working and made it a priority to help me feel better prepared in areas I was struggling. Bottom line, if you want to do well on this exam it is YOU who needs to put in the effort - Leona will give you the tools to succeed - but if you want a 700+, come prepared to eat, sleep, and breathe the exam. That being said, I'm happy to have Leona as very close friend of mine now and could not have gotten to the finish line without her! A million thank you's!!!!

About Michael
Things to know about me as an LSAT Tutor:

1. Prior to our first session, it's important that we meet to decide if we're a fit. If you don't think I can help you, or if I don't think I can help you, guess what: we're both right! You can't learn that for sure from reading a profile online.

2. I'm the only 1-on-1 Treasure Valley LSAT tutor that I know of. I only do lessons face-to-face. I want my customers to know exactly who they're working with.

3. I don't teach a specific strategy; I teach what works for each of my students. I scored a 170 on my LSAT (97th percentile). The strategies that worked for me may not be the strategies that will work for you, but together we can find those that will.

4. I took the LSAT in February of 2017, but I have been tutoring ACT and SAT for over 6 years, so I am familiar with adapting to students' need

I've known Hector for a few years now, and I haven't met anyone as passionate when it comes to his work.
Hector puts forth 110% towards his work and students to ensure quality material. He is patient, and is more than happy to clarify any questions.
Not only does his passion lies within teaching, but he is continulusly striving to learn new things. He loves to analyze complex sciences and the world around him, and as an outcome he formulates fascinating theories. Not only is a great teacher, but a friend who truly inspires those around him.

Hector was easily the most friendly and helpful instructor I've had. He was very patient with me and was willing to explain everything in clear detail, step by step. He was also very energetic when teaching, which made Chemistry a lot more enjoyable. He made sure I understood concepts before moving on, and respected my pace of learning. I would highly recommend Hector!

I have known Hector for the past couple of years. Over the last two years, in specific, Hector has been of great help in my educational career. He has not only been encouraging into me pursing my Speech and Language Pathology career, but he has been of great help when it came to a course I took last semester. I was taking Psychology-LIfe Cycle Development, and him and I had a very interesting talk about a specific topic we were covering in class. He helped me understand the topic much more, by giving me examples outside of the book and strengthening my knowledge. I am so grateful for the enormous help that Hector has been, but also for being extremely encouraging and believing in me.

About Ezra
I currently work as a remote mentor at Pyramind, a music production company in San Francisco.

My goal as a teacher is to unlock the creative potential within people. I believe that music education should empower the student to bring the contents of their imagination into full expression. Discipline and practice is only half the battle. You will learn all of the fundamentals of music theory, but the fun really begins when we start looking at your favorite songs and learning how to incorporate those ideas into your own creative process.

As a performing musician, I have fifteen years experience writing music for bands, studio recording, pressing cds and vinyl through record labels, touring nationally, writing and publishing two books on music theory, giving public talks for large audiences, and have been featured as interview guest on
several radio shows and podcasts.
