Private Piano Teacher

My name is Maggie and I'm a piano teacher. I have been teaching private piano lessons for 10 years. I focus on students' fundamental skills such as finger technic, sight reading, and ear training. I also incorporate music theory during the piano lesson so students also understand why the music sounds beautiful. I teach at my home studio, and I can also drive to your place if you have a piano or keyboard. I teach Classical, Jazz, Blues, and Pop. Don't hesitate to contact me if you are looking for a piano teacher, you're welcome to join my studio!

About Maggie

Since earning my Bachelor's Degree in Musicology in 2009, I have been teaching private piano lessons to ages young and old. I use various method books to develop strong fundamentals; which in-turn creates a strong musical foundation on which the student can build. I believe every student has a di

Maggie is a great teacher. My seven-year-old daughter loves her and she learns a lot from her. My daughter had a different piano teacher before. I like Maggie's upbeat way of teaching better than her old teacher. I personally believe the right attitude and energy helps motivate kids to learn. I like that she has different lesson plans and reward system. Just a little something to show my daughter that she's doing a good job.

I am a current Juilliard undergraduate with experience formally teaching beginner- intermediate level students. I welcome students of all levels who are interested in advancing their knowledge and ability to become pianistically proficient. For all my students, I emphasize the importance of practicing efficiently while developing critical listening skills. Although practicing might usually seem laborious, I strive to help students seek the enjoyment out of the music that they want to play.

I love teaching beginner piano! Piano takes a lot of music theory knowledge. I do my best to structure lessons so my students learn a little at a time and to make learning fun! I suppose something that sets me apart from other teachers is that I have an emphasis on ear training, not note reading in the beginning. Music learning theory informs us that music learning is best when it's "sound, before sight, before theory". I stand by this in my lessons and find that students make better progress this way.

About Kylie

Mrs. Kylie Irvin is a native of Skaneateles Falls, N.Y. and moved to Asheville, N.C. to continue her lifelong journey in music education and performance. Kylie has a diverse musical background in several instruments including trombone, piano, guitar, voice, and flute. She received her undergraduate

One of the most talented musicians I have ever met. While trombone is his main instrument, he plays and instructs exceptionally well on a myriad of other instruments. So you've started piano lessons and you're in it for the long haul... but playing the same exercises over and over again is starting to get boring. We understand. No one goes to the gym and does the same routine day in and day out. Why should you have to trudge your way through the same repetitive piano exercises over and over? Teaching yourself piano requires a bit of creativity in this respect. So crack your knuckles, climb down off the top of the piano before you scratch the surface, and g …
