Alex Sjobeck holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the Manhattan School of Music and a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado where she taught collegiate classes while obtaining her degree. She has taught semester-long classes as well as master classes at universities and high schools across the United States and has been teaching private piano lessons to both young and adult students for over a decade. Her knowledge of music is shown through her thriving teaching career as well as her performance career which has led her to record several albums and perform at acclaimed jazz clubs across the United States such as the Velvet Note in Atlanta, GA, and Dazzle in Denver, CO.

I consider teaching people to be a way of common development of human creativity, raising a student's cultural level up, instilling interest in music and arts, an explanation of the significance of music.

Whether you want to learn the real thing or just bought the latest synthesizer, there are certain techniques and approaches I have found in the past 30+ years to work like DYNAMITE -- IF... someone shows you a new way of playing. I have not only taught myself by ear but have over the years successfully taught many students my Method of getting good on a keyboard. I do not approach lessons in the "traditional" sense beyond proper posture and common sense ways to avoid injury. I get to the core of learning to play the instrument in a way that is EASY, FUN, and incredibly TO-THE-POINT! If your goal is NOT to be a classically trained pianist, but rather: you want to learn to EXPRESS yourself on ANY keyboard you have available to you in a way that is stress-free, inspiring, and efficient... you've found your new Maestro!

Matthew has studied piano for over 20 years and has taught for over 10 years. Covering all styles you can expect a well rounded lesson with focus on theory and technique. Students will learn major and minor scales and keys and be able to identify chord types and shapes while reading music.
