He just left our house, like any other Saturday afternoon for three years now, and every time he leaves, I have the same feeling of putting my son’s musical knowledge in the best hands (ever).
Our son passed this year the Certificate of Merit in Piano with a perfect score, and we thank 100% Mr. Shapovalov for such success.
Mr. Shapovalov is a great pianist, educated, polite, and kind. Our son loves him like he was family, and his performance just gets better and better. It is unbelievable how much he improved working with Mr. Shapovalov.
Mr. Shapovalov organizes recitals, workshops, and pre-tests in order to prepare his students for the Certificate of Merit test. He takes proud in his students’ success and works with our son using multiple approaches, all of them orientated to make the lesson fun and useful, totally aligned with the Certificate of Merit test expectations.
I feel bad it took so long to write a review about this fabulous teacher. I guess I didn’t want to share our “treasure” with anybody else! But seriously: if you are looking for a committed, professional musician, and stellar teacher, all in one person… contact Mr. Shapovalov. Enjoy.

Specifically: KEYBOARDS. Forget boring lessons! I can show you my Method to make playing & creating FUN and efficient regardless your skill level! Whether you want to learn the real thing or just bought the latest synthesizer, there are certain techniques and approaches I have found in the past 30+ years to work like DYNAMITE -- IF... someone shows you a new way of playing. I have not only taught myself by ear but have over the years successfully taught many students my Method of getting good on a keyboard. I do not approach lessons in the "traditional" sense beyond proper posture and common sense ways to avoid injury. I get to the core of learning to play the instrument in a way that is EASY, FUN, and incredibly TO-THE-POINT! If your goal is NOT to be a classically trained pianist, but rather: you want to learn to EXPRESS yourself on ANY keyboard you have available to you in a way that is stress-free, inspiring, and efficient... you've found your new Maestro!

If you are looking for a piano teacher for you or your kids, please consider Dr. Walker seriously. Dr. Walker is a perfect piano teacher in all aspects.
Dr. Walker is good at teaching kids in a way that is adaptive to kid's different personality so that his teaching is easy for kids to understand and kids likes the lessons as well.
In addition, Dr. Walker teaches much more than piano playing technique itself. With his teaching, the student will also learn musical knowledge such as music theory, the development of classical music, the composers and their master pieces, and so on. I will not elaborate here.
And Dr. Walker always encourages his student while the student is struggling with technical difficulties or when the kids is not that careful. Special thanks to Dr. Walker for his patience and encouragement and I think this has protected my daughter's interests in learning piano and music.
You won't regret having Dr. Walker as your piano teacher."

Thank you, Randy...you're terrific!"

Maria really connects with the boys and they absolutely love her. To top it off, she's very motivating, organized, and for the first time with any teacher, she had an action plan. We knew where are kids were with progress regularly. We also we informed how to keep them motivated at home and how to get them to practice. My oldest son (14) has gone through 3 levels in 1.5 years and has actually been asking about joining the jazz band at his school. My 3 other sons (6,8,9) have been steadily going through the levels and most importantly are able to apply what they are learning to music Maria doesn't teach them. My 8 year old was actually describing what a chord progression was the other day to his grandfather and used the word cadence. I had to google what that meant on my phone!
Her location is also perfect. As long as they have something to do, Maria doesn't mind them sitting in the living room while she teaches a lesson so it enables me to run to the grocery store or bank which are less than 2 miles from her home while the kids are in lessons.
We are extremely pleased with Maria and I would recommend her to anyone. She is worth every single penny. Our family will be moving to John's Creek this October and we will be making the drive once a week through Atlanta traffic happily."

Although we follow the lessons in a piano book Sue adds additional insight and helpful tips about the lesson at hand. She gives you tips on finger positioning, keeping the same pace while playing songs, and much more that you can't get from just a book. Even if you plan on learning mainly through a book I'd suggest taking a few lessons from Sue as well to compliment your study habits and to make sure you're learning everything correctly. Sometimes she also provides some interesting information about the song you are learning like it's backstory and it's popularity which I find great additional information.
Sue is very patient and lets you learn at a pace that is comfortable for you. I've never felt any pressure while taking a lesson and enjoy the setup she has in her home. Again, if you are looking for a piano lesson, no matter your experience level, I think you'll be happy having Sue as a teacher."
