Bought my daughter (adult) lessons as a gift. She called me today to tell me how much fun she is having and how wonderful Elena is. Said she is positive and fun, and has taught her so much already. Very happy!

Unfortunately, yesterday was my last lesson with Mark, as I am moving to Guam. I would definitely not be giving up my weekly lesson with him if that weren't the case! I've learned so much in the short couple months taking lessons from him. I would recommend him to anyone of any skill level. Very helpful and kind. :)

Kyle
Incredibly knowledgeable in physical techniques required for guitar; He is a master of all the subjective hands-on knowledge you can't learn from a video or a book, like individual hand/wrist placement, strength building, muscle memory, string bending. His curriculum is excellent for developing the raw ability to play as desired.

We initially did lessons in person then transitioned to Skype once I moved away. I found no difference between in-person or Skype.

Before I became a student under my teacher, I thought that my previous teacher was good. However, looking back, my first teacher (Not Robert Grant), was horrible. The one distinct difference between many of the casual guitar teachers and Robert is that he has a great curriculum for teaching kids and adults the proper techniques, different styles, and practices for playing the guitar. I remember on the first lesson, he immediately commented my wrong form for my picking hand. Since then he has assisted me in correcting bad technique, pursuing my strengths and passions, and expanding my knowledge in music theory, both specific for guitar and for music in general. His curriculum is equal if not better than many college courses for music(classical, jazz, etc. courses). I have been with him for 3-4 years now and I find myself greatly improved from when I first started. I would recommend going to Robert if you want to seriously learn how to play the guitar with a brilliantly structured course.
Justin
I've been playing guitar for 28 years and Robert has done more to advance my playing in the last 5 months than anything else I've done over that time. Whether online or in person, Robert has a great mix of laid back attitude with a task-master's approach; he encourages his students to have fun with the guitar, but to take it and their work with it seriously. In a really short time, I've picked up a wealth of music theory and my technique has improved dramatically. Most importantly, I'm having more fun playing than I have in years. I can't recommend Robert highly enough.

Outstanding Teacher

I came to Mike with 25 years of playing experience and was expecting to grind through theory like I've done with past instructors. We jammed for a couple of minutes at our first lesson and he took it in a totally different direction, which has been amazing!!! He is so incredibly tuned in to what each individual student needs that he knew what I needed way before I figured it out. I love his approach to playing, which for an advanced player, focuses on getting ideas from your head to your fingers and I love that he teaches the theory aspect of playing, not as the focus, but as an explanation of why certain ideas work and certain ones don't. He doesn't jam theory down your throat, so lessons and practice are truly enjoyable and don't feel like a chore.

In addition to be a truly gifted teacher, Mike is just an awesome dude -- it's obvious that he loves to teach and really invests himself in getting his students to where they want to go. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Great experience!

Mike is an outstanding teacher. As a total guitar novice, his patience and instructional ability really helped me take small steps into a much bigger world. Between the in studio lessons and the exercises he gave me to do at home, I really feel like I learned a great deal in a short time period. I hope to work with him again in the future and would strongly recommend him to anyone thinking of guitar lessons.

Wonderful Teacher

My son has been taking lessons with Michael for about a year, and we are both very satisfied customers. When my son first came to Mike, he was anxious about his upcoming audition for the top jazz band at his school. Mike helped him prepare and feel more confident, and he was able to earn his place in the band. Since then Mike has worked with him on technique and style and helped him progress incredibly. Mike is a great teacher, very professional, and a super person!

"Scott is an amazing guitarist! Although I never officially took lessons from Scott, I played with him in a few bands and he was always helpful and patient in showing me different tips and tricks. He also got me up and running on the basics on electric guitar last year. If I lived back in his area, I would for sure sign up for lessons with him to improve my skills!"

"Over the past seven years, I have had three different guitar teachers. Karney is by far my favorite. The thing that really sets him apart is that he made me love playing guitar. I liked it before, but Karney actually taught me what I wanted to learn. This motivated me to practice the songs and eventually allowed me to play guitar at several weddings, both with Karney and by myself. He always goes the extra mile in my instruction by looking on his own time for cool new songs we can play. I know going into every lesson that I will have a good time and learn something new."

"I took guitar lessons from Blake for a couple of years as well as having the privilege of playing with him at my local church. First, Blake is a preeminent guitarist. I mean, he is a world class jazz guitarist and composer. Taking lessons from him was a great experience. He is patient and took time to make sure that I understood what he was teaching. The lessons were a nice mix of theory and actual playing. Lastly, I enjoyed how he let me choose what songs we would use for skills practice. If you want to learn Black Dog, he will use that to teach finger dexterity, time signatures, and dynamics! He's simply the best."
