Private one-on-one saxophone instruction has been my primary vocation for nearly 30 years. I've also worked as a professional performing musician for over 35 years. Each lesson is tailored to the tastes and needs of the student, with traditional method books rarely used once the basics are under control. Instruction is based on a strong working knowledge of scales. The informed use of these scales leads to a heightened understanding of improvisation, ear training, and other practical aspects of music theory. Students are encouraged to choose from a variety of jazz standards and transcriptions, classical themes, and pop tunes that I’ve transcribed and engraved. Rudimentary instruction is also available for saxophonists wishing to learn flute and/or clarinet.
About Neal
I started giving saxophone lessons nearly 30 years ago when I began to realize how little I was taught about the way music works in the real world. Despite studying Music Performance at Illinois State University, my most meaningful education has been earned through mistakes I've made, or through tr

I've never left a lesson feeling disappointed with my ability, something I experienced with other voice teachers. I feel confident in my voice and I owe that all to Melissa. For instance, during one lessons I was feeling a little off. Rather than getting frustrated she helped me focus on great ways to approach singing when not feeling your best. Dr. McCann rocks!
If you are looking for a voice teacher new or experienced I would definitely recommend Dr. McCann. Top notch lessons and overall awesome woman!
Her lessons are fun, effective, and very positive. All of which help the student learn more and get more out of the lesson. I highly recommend Dr. M. as a teacher to anyone (at any level) who is interested in becoming a better singer.

Book NowHi!
This is Charlotte and I am a recent graduate in Piano Performance from the Jacobs School of Music. I am currently based in Bloomington and I would love to put forward my services as a piano teacher, accompanist and performer.
Whether you want to learn a few Disney tunes or a Beethoven sonata, I am excited to work on your project together, and help achieve your goals!
During the past two years, I have been an associate instructor in secondary piano, where I was entrusted with group classes and private students at IU. Since high school, I have worked with a lot of talented students from 3 to 30. During our lessons, we enjoy a lot of interactive activities and I really enjoy making progress together and growing together with my students.
As a musician, I am also actively seeking to grow. In 2019, I was named the alternate for the State of Indiana in the MTNA Competition. As a firm believer in positive social changes through arts and humanities, I have been engaged in ...

Studied Classical Flute Performance at the Bob Cole Conservatory of music for 2 years (though my education was cut short because of COVID 19), and I passed the audition to the Manhattan School of Music. I am an experienced flute teacher of 3 years and have taught beginning to intermediate levels. I would love to pass down what I've learned from my many previous flute teachers. I can help you get into the music school of your dreams, or we can simply play the flute and I'll help you sound better. I love all types of music, and I am open to whatever you might want to learn. Looking forward to meeting you, and I feel I have a lot to offer my future students.

Learning to play the piano is a really rewarding process, for aspiring musicians of all ages! But remember: as with all new skills, it takes a lot of practice and commitment to make progress. Simply playing away at the keys one by one can get you past the first few lessons, but if you really want to start understanding the piano, learning piano chords is important - especially as you start working on more complicated piano songs. You can learn how to play chords with the help of a good piano tea …
