About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

Kelvin is a phenomenal teacher of classical guitar. Our teenage son wanted to take classical lessons for a while, after having happily done a couple years with School of Rock. He and Kelvin meshed well, and I feel our son learned a lot over the course of a couple more years.

When one of us had a schedule conflict, we had the ability to do a lesson via Skype. Let me tell you, that came in mighty handy in the winter of 2019.

Schedule with Kelvin; I am certain you'll be glad that you did.

Watercolor painting has a way of showing emotion and expression. I am a graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA) majoring in visual artists and continued my studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art. In my spare time, I've taught for the last 15 years. I've tutored actual BSA students. I love painting. I love teaching art. It is an expression of an individual's personal journey.

The most fabulous thing about being an artist is that boundaries regarding creativity are non-existent. The artist is always in a state of learning. Art is a progressive practice that takes time to develop.

Students will be introduced to the color wheel, basic materials needed, perspective, and the differences between realistic and impressionistic painting techniques.

Materials are not included.

Watercolor painting lessons will be assessed based on the individual's current abilities and their goals.

About Sharron
My resume includes graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts and continued studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art until I decided I didn’t want to be a “Starving Artist”. So, I graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources Management. My education also includes 27 graduate credits that were leading to a Master’s in Public Administration when I decided to discontinue that path. After twenty-five years in the public sector, I decided to revisit my passion for art in my spare time. As a youngster, I remember wanting to teach art in schools, but I did not want the restrictions that are present in the classrooms and more so today. All forms of art is a freeing practice that is practiced and developed over time. Art is very therapeutic.

I've taught and currently consult with former and current Baltimore School for the Arts visual arts students. For mor information, website at jfa-studios.com.

I have more than 10 years of experience in teaching drawing and painting in university and college.
I cover realistic style to abstract art with watercolor, oil, or acrylic. Also, you will learn a variety of techniques like glazing, impasto, and alla prima. subject matter can start with still life and continue architecture, landscape, and figurative art.

About Roya
My name is Roya. I am a professional artist and educator, and I’m a professor in painting and drawing. It would be my pleasure to teach you painting or drawing. Over the last 10 years, I have taught painting and drawing, including figure drawing and painting courses in universities and colleges.

I’m using 2 different teaching strategy based on my students interest.

In the first plan, I start to teach from basic to advanced technique; my goal at the beginning stage is to provide students with enough skills and technique that they can skillfully begin making art from 3- dimensional sources, not just copying from other arts.

In the second path, I start teaching any subject or technique that my student prefer like pastel landscape or oil painting portrait.

I teach a variety of technique, medium and styles from realistic to abstract
, or any style that you prefer

I took painting lessons about 10 years ago and haven’t done anything since. I brought a 1/2 finished painting. Maggie was great helping me set up and seeing where I was and what I remembered. Then showed me some techniques to help get me going. I’m looking forward to our next lesson.

Educated in Europe, I was always inspired by my teachers and travels to continue honing my artistic skills. With practice, anybody can develop their own style, and I believe it's my duty to pass on the knowledge that was instilled in me as a young artist.
Expression of one's soul in art may be sometimes stronger than words, something that psychologists have proven for years.

About Isabela
Before reading about me, I'd like to share up front the honor that my newest student, R., has brought to me by choosing to learn Romanian. Nothing special so far except that he is 100 years old!!!! Yes, you read that correctly: a century old. He is the outmost inspiring person in my life by teaching me that age is just a number and that learning can happen any day if we choose so. R is a medical doctor, a psychologist, a chemist and biologist. Words can't even define how great of a man he is.

I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested student who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).

I love interacting with people and
pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.

I believe in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.

I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages (and proper grammar rules which highly reflect on one's education) by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration and health.

I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.

This was a very helpful lesson. We went over homework together. She made corrections as well as changed wording at times to see whether I understood. Isabela also referred me to some very good websites. We interacted over one of these.

Calligraphy of objects with your very own set of awesome brushes with professional tips, a carefully chosen paper, and paint you'll really appreciate. Just add water and let me guide you through techniques, composition, elements, principles. I'd also like to introduce the mindset of mindfulness to the practice of something I've done for 30 plus years....to sway you from disastrous mud-puddles and garish kitsch....watercolor calligraphy? That too for your final masterpiece.

About Jill
Join me for the creative unleashing of highly effective processes of learning success. Your instruction will include: A. creative problem solving (unleashing the genius within) B. formation; a foundation is planned (architect) C. building; drafts are written (carpenter) D. finishing; the writing is polished (finishing editor/proofreader) I've used these guiding principles countless times in my life. Just as a jeweler would not be able to sell rough stones, Jill would not have been able to make anything in the publishing field without employing these principles. Her college papers would have been fair to dull rocks. She can say this as the daughter of a bricklayer who was the son of a stonemason in a familial line that dates back to middle 1600. So, of course, I did learn about laying bricks and throwing rocks too. Not very many structures
stand the test of time when we throw rocks (rough drafts). Only with this brick, mortar, and finish will the building stand. But enough about my lineage. My capstone point is that the finishing point of any building or writing should communicate a great product. In creating this description I had the above principles in mind. My college papers, business papers, copywriting, web designs, resumes, and even informal conversations are inclusive of this process of which proofreading is a vital component. Why? Well, I might want to throw a rock at myself if I assume myself incapable of accomplishing as much. And as the daughter of a bricklayer, I think I know about bricks and buildings, and mortar, and capstones such as proofreading. So now at my concluding paragraph contains the capstone of what is called proofreading. Proofreading, as my gem of a teacher told me, is constructed with similar principles. It contains a precise methodology which assures great communication. I would like to involve you in this structure. Please step in the door so I may explain the steps involved in editing and proofreading as art, the elements and principles of Art and English as your toolkit, and design as your structured building of success!

About Angikar
Angikar Sarkar (aged 31 years) is professionally a software engineer and an arts and music aficionado. He is originally from India and completed till 3rd year in fine Arts from Indian Academy of Fine Arts. In 2009, he came to the States to peruse graduate studies from Texas and since 2013, he is staying in north Phoenix, Arizona for professional connections. His wife, Samayita, is the biggest motivation behind his arts. Whenever he gets spare hours, Angikar involves himself in fine arts, poetry and music. Acrylic and water color are his specializations, but he also finds immense pleasure in charcoal art, sketching, pastel touches and tempera. He believes that music and rhythm exist everywhere in this universe, may be in different forms and shapes. As an artist, he wants to explore that symphony and correlate that rhythm with lives, myths,
mythologies, objects and nature. Symphony brings happiness and happiness breeds excellent art works which is where his arts are coming from.

“Nature always wears the colors of the spirit”. Ralph Emerson once said.
It is true, indeed!
It is actually impossible to portray the actual beauty of the nature in a mere canvas with a few colors and brushes in hand. The vastness is more than that. This is therefore a very miniscule effort to depict the beauty of the nature.

“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness...” and Wilderness Chapter I and Wilderness Chapter II try to tell the same thing.

“Green is the prime color of the world, and that from its loveliness arises”- Fifty Shades of Green exactly speaks about the same thing. Even everything is green, still there is no monotony and each and every hue is visible.

“Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature” and rose is the queen among them. It is more beautiful while its scent is mixed with nocturnal enigma and Night Rose tries to portray the same.

“Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all”. The peace lies in Autumn and Serenity Chapter I canvas over the same thought.

I am so fortunate to have Boris as my art class teacher! Starting from December 2018, by now I have attended about 20 x 2+ hours of private lessons held in his studio and love going there on weekends. Within few sessions I learned that Boris has excellent educational background and proven life-long miscellaneous art experiences backed up with striking masterpieces - his own art creations.

Boris undoubtedly is a marvelous teacher and educator for those students who want to go beyond mechanistic approaches to the drawing and painting, willing expand their ways to ‘perceive’ the visual art. Boris has unique talent to deliver information and instructions in a concise and clear manner aided with his unlimited patience and politeness. Self-trained hobbyist in watercolor, I never took formal classes before; being engineer by trade, was a bit uncertain if we can get along smoothly due to big gaps on my side. That doubt disappeared after just couple of our meetings. Boris has adapted to my needs well above my expectations by giving just right amount of elements of classical academic disciplines - which I personally was looking for - such as perspective, composition, light and color, forms, constructional drawing.

My initial interest was to work in acrylic for landscape painting from photographs on a medium sized canvas. Boris’ suggestion to start with still life painting (completed as the very first project) was a saver for the ongoing mountain depiction project, relatively complex. I am gladly satisfied with his guidance, solution proposals, and corrections – I like the friendly atmosphere in his studio and "behind-the-scene" explanations why he thinks this or that could be made more professional. My painting perception is also growing because of art history studies I do at home following talks and lectures Boris gives during our classes; I like to review and study illustrations in books and online materials that he recommends – now I know much more about famous artists and major directions in visual art and art advances throughout the centuries.

Standing shoulder-to-shoulder to advanced, really experienced artist, is a stirring feeling and thanks to Boris’ soft skills, I can tell I am respected and taken care of. During 2019 spring break I brought my 15yo son for 4 master class sessions at Boris studio, and they have finished a pretty looking painting on 18x24 inch canvas in acrylic on an extraterrestrial planet theme; which has significantly promoted my son’s interests both in art and astronomy. My son enjoyed talking to teacher, our time was worthy spent on ‘painting bootcamp’.

Boris gives memorable, highly narrative hands-on sessions on color blocking, shading, underpainting, color mixing, value and tone balance solutions, one-line drawing, composition, and many more. I feel I am back to a good school where I do acquire my new painting skills at a rate I can control.

I strongly recommend Boris to both kids and adults.

I am taking Boris’s classes for more than 4 years and am more than happy with my progress. Boris is an amazing teacher and a very talented artist with lots of experience and knowledge of art history. He helped me work on my creativity, master different techniques, explore various mediums and challenge myself. I took group and individual classes and both formats worked fine. I am always looking forward to my art classes with Boris as I learn something new and they are never boring.
