My lesson plan will expand your knowledge of chords and scales, and how to use them. I’ll give you exercises to increase speed, dexterierity. I am a tickler for ensuring that the material taught is learnt, and so I may use basic everyday knowledge to apply the principles. I am patient especially when dealing with young children, whose attention span may be short. I balance off the piano experience with the fundamentals of theory, which goes hand in hand with the piano playing experience. My students and their parents know that part of mastering the art of piano playing, is practising on their own at home, hence having a keyboard/piano or access to a keyboard/piano is essential. My classes are very structured.
I have taught piano for about fifteen (15) years at both the beginner and intermediate stages. I completed up to Grade 8 of The Royal School of Music Exams. It gives me great joy when my students are able to apply the theory foundation to the practical. I consider myself a patient teacher and lo
Patricia started music as a child, and took all her exams right up to Grade 8. She is an excellent musician and also a wonderful teacher. She taught with me for a long time. She now plays for churches, and professionally for functions. She knows how to get small children and adults to understand and read notes and also to write music. I recommend her very highly in this profession.

Bachelor of Music Jazz Studies from Rutgers University
My music theory students should expect to work on traditional voiceleading, harmony, and analysis, as well as more esoteric musical techniques such as atonal and serial composition. If the student is interested, jazz theory may also be incorporated parallel to this. Ear training is also essential for theorists to analyze outside of the score.
Of course, we will also focus on preparing for the AP test, if the student is interested in taking it. This can be by itself or in conjunction with a class at school.
All of my students will work on these foundations. From there, I work with my students to create a tangible system to organize their practice and goals so that we can work on more specific areas relevant to what they want out of their musical life. This system is extremely flexible and effective. I also encourage and assist my students to use this system in other areas of their lives, such as academics or sports. The skills needed for a high level of achievement are similar ...

I have been on-and-off studying piano since eight years ago in my early 40s from reading and playing the middle C. I have changed a few teachers over the years. More than a year ago, I decided to pickup the piano again and I found Lena. I explained to her about my path for learning piano and the reasons for the hiatuses I had. Well, time flies, here I am, still taking lessons with Lena and playing chopin’s nocturnes; in fact, I recently doubled the class time, so I would be able to maximize the benefit I gained from her teaching. I think one of the best thing of Lena did is that she doesn’t limit my potentials by allowing me to play challenging pieces such as Chopin’s. Also, her encouragement comes so genuine when she tells the story of a Lady who started learning piano at age 88! For someone like me who works full time, the harder I work, the harder I play, as piano has been such an effective way to channel frustrations from work or other areas of life. I am grateful for having Lena from whom I not only learn musicianship, but also touch a soul with kindness, integrity and humanity."
As a parent I enjoy the flexibility that Molly provides with schedule and also her prompt responses."
