Jenny is an Ohio based flutist with over 20 years’ experience teaching flute and piccolo. She has 10 years’ experience at the collegiate level. She enjoys teaching at all levels, from beginner through advanced, and has taught a wide range of ages from 8 to 70. From introducing students to the flute and teaching them their first songs as a beginner, to preparing them for auditions, recitals, honor bands, and much more as an advanced player, I love helping students enjoy the process of learning an instrument and being able to see them grow and achieve their goals. I love that each student brings unique strengths to each lesson and I tailor the lesson to the student’s needs and learning styles.

About Jenny

I have over 20 years’ experience teaching flute and piccolo and currently teach at two local colleges. I enjoy teaching at all levels, from beginner through advanced. At the Beginner level, I get to introduce students to the instrument. This is one of my favorite parts because every new piece

I was nervous to have a lesson with private teacher and was petrified the first day when she asked me to play for her, but I was surprised by how supportive and reinforcing she was. She teaches in a very comfortable, positive, and engaging way. Not only does she adapt her teaching to "you," but she puts a lot of effort in her students. She teaches at a university, but puts just as much passion and care into her private students. I personally credit her to preparing me for college and building me into the musician I am today. I highly recommend her to anybody- at all levels! :)
Annette
Jenny is a kind and strong teacher. I truly enjoyed my lessons with her as I studied flute. She is an asset to the community for many reasons, but her love for education is superb.
Luane
It is with great pleasure for me to recommend Jenny as a flute instructor. I am one of her advanced and more mature students (I didn't want to say old lol! ). I graduated with a BM and have taught elementary music for 37 years. Jenny is creative, intuitive and compassionate. She has a thirst for knowledge and a great passion for teaching! She is always searching for new and innovative ways of teaching musical concepts. I am amazed how she is able to be so expressive in the way that she explains how to play expressively! In the short time that I have been taking lessons from Jenny I have experienced great improvement on all levels of my flute playing. Her “bag of tricks” appear to be endless! In my humble opinion I feel Jenny has all the qualities of a master teacher! I always look forward for my lessons with her!

I'm passionate about the arts and love to teach! I have over 19 years of performing arts experience, and 6 years of teaching experience (K-8th grade music, as well as dance and musical theatre camps for kids in my community). I received my Bachelor's degree in 2013, studying Theatre, Music, and Art.

What makes vocal lessons with me unique is that I have a background in theatre and dance as well. I am loving, creative, and meticulous. As a teacher, I will tailor my lessons around you, at your own level and pace, and will do my best to meet your individual needs as a student and performer. After learning what your goals are and what your vocal range and current skill level is--I will provide some musical repertoire for you to prepare and perform. You are also welcome to bring music that you'd like to learn. I can help you find your unique sound and convey emotion in your voice. And I offer an Audition Prep course as well!

About Clarissa

Clarissa has a passion for the arts, with over 19 years of performing experience and 6 years of teaching experience. She loved teaching music part-time for 4 years at a K-8th grade school in Montana, which involved directing the Christmas musicals each year. As a spunky three-year-old, Clarissa

I am a fiddler and vocalist for internationally-touring and award-winning folk groups, Tullamore and Brackish Water Jamboree. In addition to my performance schedule, I am also honored to play first violin for the Hampton Roads Philharmonic. I run a thriving online teaching studio, which has been kicking since 2003, after earning my degree in violin performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Students describe me as patient, fun, and encouraging! As your teacher, you can expect me to work with you from where you are, and with subjects and curriculum that match what you are interested in learning. I teach traditional classical, using either Suzuki or Essential Elements, depending on your learning and self-motivational needs, and I also teach fiddle music, including Celtic, old-time, bluegrass, and alternative styles. *Please check my availability before signing up, as my time slots are quickly filling up!* I look forward to meeting you! We are so thankful we found Patrick! Patrick is a very effective teacher who’s able to relate and motivate students. Our daughter was loosing interest in playing piano due to her former teacher’s approach. Now she’s back to practicing because she wants to and is so excited to see Patrick each week. We are very greatful that she’s back to loving piano and continuing to learn.

Patrick is a great teacher, and very patient. I've never learned how to sing or read music before, and he teaches at a pace that's good for me. I highly recommend him whether you're an adult or you're considering enrolling your child.

"I learned so much from Howard. His techniques are incomparable and I would not be the kind of musician that I am without him. My sight-reading skills, songwriting skills, and overall piano skills are lightyears ahead of where they would be, had I not learned piano the way I did. He is honest and patient, and always wants his students to succeed. I was able to focus on the parts of music that I really wanted to work on, and he supported me fully. I will be attending NYU for Musical Theatre next year, and part of my audition for the program was a musicianship test. I honestly don't think I would have gotten in without everything he taught me. He's wonderful!!"

"Last November I began playing the guitar. Like most beginners I learned the basic chords (G,C,D,etc.). It wasn't much but you'd be surprised how many songs you could play with these few chords.

A few months ago, I decided it was time to learn more and sharpen my skills... starting with the basics (including reading guitar music). I decided to check out TakeLessons because I knew I could have the lessons in the comfort of my own home. So, I began researching and found Tim's profile.

If you are looking for a solid foundation in learning the guitar and feeling encouraged to push through (even if you think you can't play that one chord) I'd highly recommend Tim. Tim provides students with a guitar manual that is easy to understand and helps build one skill at a time. Like building a brick wall, the book has you put one brick on top of the other as you go through the book. In time, you will be surprised how much you've learned!

Beginners, Intermediate/Advance players if you're looking for a guitar teacher that will help you sharpen your skills and encourage you along the way... I'd highly recommend him as a guitar teacher!"

"Evan's lessons are structured and creative -- a combo that's hard to find and essential to learning. Evan plays close attention to my style and tailors lessons to meet my needs. I leave each lesson with new techniques that are helping me become able to play the music I want to play. I've noticed a huge difference in what I can do since I started working with him! Evan is an advanced drummer who hasn't forgotten what it's like to still be learning the fundamentals and is genuinely interested in helping you get to the next level."

How to Improvise on Piano and Keyboard | Exercises to Try

Forgo the sheet music and try your hand at improvising! Get started with this exercise from Tucker, GA teacher Linda L...   Improvising, in music, is making up your own music on the spot. It is truly “playing with” music, in the more common sense of the word “play.” It’s fun, creative, and, well, playful. When it comes to piano improvisation, I tend to think of jazz, blues, and rock. But one can definitely improvise in any musical style. There is a lot you can learn wh …
