I am a pianist and singer who started learning to play the piano at age 6, and I love teaching all students of all experience levels. Growing up I competed and placed highly in many competitions including playing with the Symphony Orchestra in my home town of Spartanburg, SC after winning it's concerto competition at the age of 17. In college I took piano from Dr. Charles Fugo at the University of South Carolina and also started taking voice lessons from Tonya Currier and Walter Cuttino. While still in college I worked with The South Carolina Opera company for a season as a member of the ensemble and as Chorus Master. Professionally, I have worked with different theater and opera companies as a lead actor and as a musician. I have also worked in many different church positions as a musician and singer. I have many years of teaching ex

*** Lesson Details *** I have experience teaching since 1995 while I was still in college. I primarily use Alfred and "Faber & Faber" piano methods for beginners. I teach how to read music, understand the theory behind the music, and the technique needed in a patient atmosphere at the pace of the student. I also teach you how the piano works and the different types of pianos as well as the history of keyboards used for different classical music. The lessons are geared toward the goals of the student no matter what level is desired. In teaching singing, I will teach you the basics necessary to create a healthy and relaxed sound through technique. With experience singing music ranging from classical to contemporary church music to musical theater, I can teach you how to use the voice in a way that will promote a long time of singing without adding stress to the voice. I will work with any style of music and will give you the technique and confidence needed to become a better singer.
*** Studio Equipment *** In my home studio is a piano and books with big windows to look out. Pianos are an upright piano and an Alesis Synthesiser. For online lessons you will have a clear view of the keyboard as well as myself. It will be like you are the studio with me.
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect the student to have a piano or an electric keyboard at home for piano lessons. For voice lessons a keyboard is not required but is helpful.
*** Specialties *** I primarily teach piano in a classical style using either "Faber & Faber" or Alfred Methods for piano lessons. For voice, I teach all my students to sing in a way that will be the most beneficial to the health of their voice. Doing this is helpful to all styles of singing.

Hello everyone, I am Michael - I am currently in school at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY pursuing my doctoral degree in vocal performance and literature. American baritone Michael most recently performed the role of Lieutenant Audebert in Silent Night by Kevin Puts with Buffalo Opera in New York. Other recent credits include: Sam in Trouble in Tahiti by Leonard Bernstein at the Aspen Opera Center, Marcello in La Boheme by Puccini in San Diego, CA and Tom in Gershiwin’s, Blue Monday with Opera de Tijuana in Mexico. Michael will return to the Aspen Opera Center this summer to sing Frederick Egerman in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. Most recently on the concert stage he was the baritone soloist for the Monteverdi Vespro della Beata Vergine at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop and Haydn’s Seasons with the Eastman Philharmonia in Rochester, NY. In 2016 Michael received the second-place award in the Palm Springs Opera Guild Rossini Competition adjudicated by the famous Rossini tenor, Rockwell Blake. Michael is currently pursuing a doctorate in music performance and literature at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY where in 2019 will sing the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

I started lessons with Michael having done both contemporary voice and years of choir. But prior to training with Michael, I'd never really been coached as to how to properly sing in a classical style. He's allowed me to find an entire element of my voice I didn't know I had and made it incredibly straightforward to progress. I now absolutely love singing in a way I didn't previously think I would.

Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.

-Young kids in voice can expect their lessons to be fun and educational including using visual tools like scarves and shakers, and imaginative play to learn vocal techniques needed to sing on pitch and with proper breathe control.
-Children in piano lessons will learn music theory and piano technique through simple songwriting exercises, theory games, visual tools and more. They will learn about composer's lives and musical styles, providing them with a well-rounded lesson experience.
-Older children and adult singers can expect to learn about their vocal anatomy in order to better control of their voice and become independent during practice sessions at home. They will learn how to improve breathe control, posture and diction. Time during lessons will also be dedicated to developing stage presence and discussing vocal health. Singers will be allowed to select repertoire from the genre of their choice. They can also learn how to harmonize and sight-sing in lessons if they would like.
-I teach beginning guitar students and help them learn how to play with proper technique and accompany themselves when singing. These students learn to read staff and tab and shape different chords on the guitar. I use theory games and visual tools for kids to make lessons fun
-Music theory/composition students will be taught how to read and write music. Students will be invited to improvise on the piano and record their improvisations.They will be taught how to sight-sing in order to learn how to notate any melodies in their head They will learn how music has changed and been influenced throughout history. They will learn how to read lead sheets and use stylistic invariants in their playing. They will be provided with honest feedback and constructive help on their compositions.They will learn how the human brain processes music and how best to capitalize upon this process for the greatest audience appeal.

I am a Westminster Choir College '11 Alum who graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music, summa cum laude. I also have my master's degree in music therapy from Drexel University. I am also a Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and a Board Certified Music Therapist. During my time at school I performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Center, and did music therapy work with older adults, as well as disadvantaged children and parents.
I also have my own parent/child music class I host every Thursday September-May. It's never to early to start a music education!

I am now on my second year of graduate studies at Shenandoah University for Music Performance with a concentration in voice. Before going to graduate school I took a year off and taught privately at a music school. Within a few weeks my students improved a few of them even performed in a recital. One student also performed in a local children's production of Legally Blonde. Students who study with me will learn the basics and proper technique to sing, will sing appropriate repertoire and I will prepare the student if he or she would like to make a career in singing.
I received my Master's degree in Music Performance in May 2018 from Shenandoah University under the direction of Natalie Conte (voice teacher) and Robert Thieme (vocal coach). My Bachelor's in Music was obtained at Marywood University under the direction of Dr. Rick Hoffenberg (vocal coach) and Ellen Rutkowski (voice teacher) in 2015. Students that study with me can expect to learn the basics of singing including; correct posture, breathing, and to sing with expression.
