I received my music education from The Brooklyn Music School, Cornell University and the The Institute of Audio Research.

For piano and voice, I incorporate basic music theory methods but I also focus on ear training as well. My ultimate goal when teaching is for the student to have a visceral experience while playing or singing.

For audio engineering, I go over audio recording techniques and the tools & equipment needed to produce a professional sounding song.

I enjoy imparting my knowledge of music to others and I demonstrate that enthusiasm in my teaching style. I love relating what I'm teaching a student to his/her learning style. Figuring out how someone learns is a key component to my method and I'm a better instructor because of it.

They will be provided with honest feedback and constructive help on their compositions. They will learn how the human brain processes music and how best to capitalize upon this process for the greatest audience appeal.

-I have experience teaching students with special needs and adjusting lessons to help them meet their goals.

About me!

I am a Westminster Choir College '11 Alum  who graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music, summa cum laude. I also have my master's degree in music therapy from Drexel University. I am also a Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and a  Board Certified Music Therapist. During my time at school I performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Center, and did music therapy work with older adults, as well as disadvantaged children and parents.

I also have my own parent/child music class I host every Thursday September-May. It's never to early to start a music education!

I have been teaching for over four years and now have a studio of more than 70 happy students. Teaching music is my passion, and I love seeing students grow!

I often draw upon my experience from my master's degree in music therapy, which taught me that music can have a profound effect on the human brain and upon cognitive development.  My skills as a music therapist allow me to better understand a student's cognitive strengths and areas for improvement, and to develop individualized teaching strategies which utilize student strengths.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studios are equipped with keyboard, guitar or piano, as well as a sizable repertoire of classical, broadway and popular music. ' I also have a mirror for voice students to see how their body is moving when singing and visual tools for students like scarves, whiteboard, markers, crayons...ect. I am more than happy to help students find any music they may need for lessons that is not already in my library.

I recommend the following books for piano students (listed by age):

What can I say?! My son has been taking from Keith for 8 months now online, and I am in amazement at the progress he has made! He is playing piano like he has been taking for way more than short of a year. After working hard on theory, my son is now learning to play favorite songs. He said today that Keith is challenging him to figure out some parts by year. If you have a question or doubt about what instructor to choose, I can tell you right now. Choose Keith!!! You will not, can not be disappointed!! Thank you Keith for all you have done. Thank you also for being consistent in your lessons and always staying in touch. You are the greatest and I highly recommend you. And congratulations on your 4th grammy nomination!

From first hitting a key to playing entire Beethoven movements, I'll meet you where you are and help you learn and love piano. Whatever your goals are, we will use timeless technique and theory approaches to improve your skills and get your playing to where you want it to be. I use a combination of Piano Adventures books and Real books (I provide lesson materials every lesson). Let's get to tickling those ivories!

About Rachel
Hi there!

I am a 24 year old music teacher available to teach lessons to all ages in voice, guitar, piano, bass, songwriting or music theory.

I've been studying music for over a decade, from Texas to the UK to New York City. I was a top high school vocalist in Texas, winning multiple titles and awards in classical voice and going on to perform in musical theatre productions and popular music groups in Austin and Liverpool, England, where I received my BA Music from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts under Sir Paul McCartney. After moving to NYC in 2016, I began to focus on teaching private lessons in the above subjects. As of earlier this year, I made the move to teaching music in a private school. My classes range from instrumental performance to advanced music theory to recording arts. I am familiar with and can tutor to
DOE standards.

My background in both teaching, writing and performing gives me a diverse and varied approach to teaching music, with an emphasis on learning technique/theory and its application to "real world" music situations. My students receive a mix of traditional technique and theory, but also get to explore the music they enjoy listening to. I am of the firm belief that music comes easiest when a student loves what they're doing. Blending technique and theory with their genuine music interests has proven to be a successful approach for many of my students. One of my specialties that sets me apart from other teachers is that I mix and match instrumental/voice/theory lessons to YOUR liking. If you want to learn how to play chords on guitar but also want to work on your voice, we can make that happen.

I am proud to say that after teaching for 3 years in the city, I now have students going on to attend performing arts high schools within the city, as well as music programs in colleges nationwide.

Music has been an important part of my life: I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the violin for 8 years now. In 2014, I was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall after my participation in the American Fine Arts Festival. I completed panel level and have been recognized as a Talent Student by the National Guild of Piano Teachers. In high school, I also competed in competitions held at local places such as Diamond Bar High School and Chapman University, always placing either first or second for solo, duet, and ensemble competitions.
Music helps me de-stress and view things from different perspectives. I have taught music for 3 years. I am hoping to share this passion with my community and would like to teach students of all ages and levels. I will tailor the lesson style depending on the age of the student. It’s never too late to start!

About Sophia
Hi there! I am majoring in mathematical and computational biology at Harvey Mudd College. I love studying the sciences because it's exciting to learn how things work and to logic things out. I love working with others - I have been tutoring students (ranging from elementary school to high school) on various school subjects for about 6 years now.

Music is another huge part of my life: I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the violin for 8 years now. I am currently a violinist in the Pomona College Orchestra. In 2014, I was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall after my participation in the American Fine Arts Festival. In high school, I placed either first or second on solo, duet, and ensemble competitions in various competitions held at places such as Diamond Bar High School and Chapman University. Through these activities, I prac
ticed on persistence and patience. Teaching experience wise, I have taught piano for 3 years before.

Additionally, I enjoy actively participating in my community. In high school, I was really involved in the American Red Cross and Key Club. In college, I am still finding joy in volunteering in different organizations on campus. I also enjoy other activities such as reading, meditation, theater, tennis, rock climbing, and ballroom.

I work with people according to their personality and the way that they learn best. If I were given the opportunity to tutor your student, I would make sure everything is clearly explained because I hate memorizing.

I look forward to sharing my passions with you!
