Music should never simply be a rote-learning process. We develop real artistry. My students learn how to interpret, transform, and create music. From the first lesson, we experiment with various musical "ingredients" and revisit these tools often as we move through a lesson series or repertoire. Students explore a variety of styles and learn to read, compose, and improvise. Students as young as five have created their own theme and variations on a favorite tune with these techniques.

Singing in live theatre requires a set of skills that are very different from singing on film or in a studio. The ability to project (be heard) and to inject emotion and facial expressions into the music so that the audience is drawn into the emotion that you are trying to portray. Singing Broadway songs requires that you don't just sing but act as well.

My acting background is in the Stanislavski Method. I also followed Uta Hagen and Stella Adler.

About Tina

A recent transplant from Los Angeles, California; I have been singing professionally for more than forty years as well as having leading roles in local theatre productions. I have also been assistant director, musical director, choreographer, costumer and writer for many productions from West Side

I have been teaching for over 5 years and love working with horn players of all levels. I realize that each student is unique and always approach individual lessons with my student's particular goals in mind. I have a basic curriculum that I use in order to build a solid musical foundation for my students, but I am open to working on whatever kind of music or repertoire that they may enjoy. I love being able to expand my students' knowledge and appreciation of the world of music. It is always exciting to me when a student achieves a goal they habe set or learns a new skill that helps them in their musical expression.

About Rachel

I am a freelance horn player with a passion for teaching both horn and piano. I have a Bachelor's of Music from The University of Arizona and a Master's of Music from California State University Long Beach. I have been teaching privately and in group settings for over 5 years and really enjoy g

Desihre is an amazing vocal and piano instructor. I started off taking piano classes and felt so comfortable that I began taking vocal lesson as well. She is such a patient teacher and always made me feel heard as a creative.

We began our lessons in person, but we transitioned to online classes. I was nervous about working from home and what the class experience would be. Desihre’s was so friendly I immediately felt at ease. I have learned so much working with Desihre and I am excited to keep learning!

I've had 4 other teachers over the years but Paul had tailored the lessons to my goals as a student rather than feeding me random information. He's very knowledgeable and his ear training is excellent. He's easy to work with and helpful. Highly recommended."

"I have played violin for 16 years, and took lessons from Marina for about 3 of them. I learned more in those 3 years about posture, technique, position, intonation, etc. than I ever did before then. She is very particular to detail and requires you to do your best whether in person or online. I was challenged to exceed and grow far beyond the things I had previously learned, and began to be quite advanced in my playing thanks to Marina's teachings."

Introduction to Reading Violin Tabs

Tablature is a form of musical notation that was invented to make reading music easier for fretted and string instruments like guitar, bass, and violin. The premise is operationally-based, meaning that rather than showing rhythm, duration, and pitch, violin tabs will show the player where and when to place their fingers on the instrument. For an improvising musician, violin tabs allow you to improvise while staying within the chord structure of a song. Tablature-style notation is most commonly …
