I have enjoyed music as long as I can remember! Whether listening, playing, writing, or teaching…I find great pleasure in the creative outlet that music provides.
At the age of five I began studying classical piano, in elementary school I studied trumpet, in middle school I picked up the guitar and bass, and in high school these experiences collided as I began to write and arrange for various ensembles.
Receiving a Bachelor of Music in Music Education at Gordon College in Wenham, MA, I studied classical guitar with David Patterson for four years while I gained much experience in various areas of classroom education (band, choir, theory, general music) with students grades K-12. I developed a great love for teaching students music (emphasis on the students), learning that music education is not an end in itself. The primary focus
of music education must be on the development of the student, not on the production of the music.
Since music is a means by which students can learn to excel and achieve, music education must be tailored to each student individually. Private teaching provides me with an opportunity to do what I love: to be intentionally involved in the development of well-rounded music students. I look forward to making music with you, and helping you grow as a music-loving musician!
*** Lesson Details *** In lessons you can expect to have fun, work hard, and make progress! Through a laid back yet challenging teaching style, I will help you deepen your love for music and grow in your ability to practice hard, play for fun, and perform well. I will tailor my instruction to you—who you are, how you learn, your preferred style, and future goals. And will encourage you when you’re frustrated and commend you when you excel!
Lessons will consist of (1) learning to play by ear songs you enjoy, (2) working through a guitar/bass method book, (3) developing technical skills through various exercises.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you grow as a well-rounded musician!
*** Specialties *** I enjoy teaching rhythm/strumming on steel string guitar and pima finger picking on nylon string.

In just a few weeks, my daughter has learned how to play 3 of her favorite songs! We are absolutely amazed with her progress and commend Bryan with his excellent teaching!
Every great artist needs a great coach, I'll help you to be the best!
I began my partnership with takelessons in 2013 and teach my students at my home teaching studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My studio is comfortable and creative.
As a highly experienced online music instructor (Takelessons Live, Skype, FaceTime and G+) I’ve helped Takelessons launch/beta test exciting new teaching platforms. I began teaching music as a teenager and have worked with students of all ages and skill levels. I have had the pleasure of coaching well-known musicians/celebrities, being an on-set tutor for feature films, and coached singers through their recording sessions. I treat my novice/hobbyist students with the same enthusiasm and professionalism as my advanced students, giving my very best to all my clients.
Additionally, I work with many stu
dents to prepare for high school/college/conservatory admission, casting calls for TV/Film, major tour auditions, and industry showcases. ______________

Lead / Rhythm Guitar:
I've developed a step-by-step approach to learning to solo and improvise. Using simple, "guitarist-friendly” techniques you will quickly learn and begin to apply major/minor scales/modes, blues/pentatonic scales and “licks.” You will learn triads, arpeggios, interval studies, and extensions and how to use them to create interesting and melodic solos. With my line development/phrasing techniques, you will have your own library of “licks” that will help you navigate both simple and sophisticated harmonic progressions. I will help you to become a become a well-rounded, three-dimensional guitarist with a unique voice!
A few of techniques I teach:
∙ triads / arpeggios ∙ strumming ∙ alternate/sweep picking ∙ tremolo picking ∙ hybrid picking ∙ scales/modes ∙ slide guitar ∙ hammer on/pull off ∙ (up to 8 finger) tapping ∙ bending / double stops / unison bends ∙ whammy bar techniques ∙ diagonal scales, ∙ arpeggios & note groupings ∙ 3 and 4 finger per string scales ∙ fingerstyle ∙ Jazz scales, chords including 4 note open/closed voicing 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th chords ∙ chord melodies ∙ rhythm and grooves of various styles
Right hand: ∙ finger style, pick ∙ slapping/popping ∙ groove, rhythms and playing time ∙ time signatures, walking bass lines, ∙ arpeggios, double stops, ∙ chords & improvising ∙ writing bass lines.
All of my students learn:
Sight reading (standard notation/tablature) ∙ music theory & ear training ∙ rhythm / timing (including reading rhythms) ∙ composition/songwriting
We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on technique. Many of my students text/email me a few days prior to our scheduled lesson with a song selection for the week. I focus our lesson's technical study with the song in mind. It has proven to be very effective and makes the technique and theory are less "boring."
Studio Equipment I have (7) guitars: including (4) electric, (2) acoustic/electric, & (3) electric bass (2) tube guitar amplifiers, and various guitar effects pedals.
Also, I have an assortment of industry standard dynamic & condenser microphones for live performance and recording applications.
DAW recording software (Pro Tools 12.x, Logic 10.x, Ableton Live) software synthesizers by Arturia, Fabfilter, Native Instruments, Spectrasonics, Steven Slate, Toontrack and more. I use plugin effects by Izotope, Fabfilter, Plugin Alliance and Universal Audio and Waves for many of my lessons and recording projects.
Travel Equipment I can provide a guitar, videos, music recording, music workbooks and everything else a student may need. Students are only expected to bring a desire to learn. :)
I am a performer with a ton of touring/stage experience, a composer who understands the art of writing and a producer who is fluent in the latest recording technology. In addition to technical studies, my students receive performance coaching/career development. I will help you to find your unique voice, a polished and distinct sound, and your true personality as an artist. I am 100% committed to making you a success!
I will ignite a new, or recharge/rekindle your passion for music, and to sing/play the music you love a lot better!
I found Eric Jayk through the group online classes and wow, what a great Teacher. I’ve taken several of the classes with many different Teachers but after taking one class with Eric J I keep coming back to his Classroom. He is practically a musical genius. You can tell he is very talented yet he has a unique way of making you feel at ease which is the key to learning to singing well. He really knows how to get you to where you want to go in the quickest time. I have struggled with vocal nodules many years ago and after taking classes with him I now know why. I am learning how to place my voice correctly in the mask and also how to properly use my breath so as to control everything. He is the best Teacher I’ve come across thus far for singing. He sends recap videos afterwards for you to use in practice as well. Love his classes and how kind, patient and professional he is. He’s not limited to one type of music. He teaches you so that you can sing ANYTHING. Thanks alot.

Amazing instruction and a really enjoyable lesson. And I’m really starting to see progress in my voice thanks to Eric.
September 6, 2019
Eric is awesome. He is very professional and has great technical knowledge and knows how to apply it to help others learn how to use proper application while singing. He also has a great earI thoroughly looked forward to all his lessons and he was also very flexible.
This kind of stuff isnt always easy through an online medium, but he has a deep understanding of the voice and a trained ear, and he makes it work with a big bag of tricks. 10/10.
I started my musical training as a pianist at YAMAHA institute at age 4 in Japan. I was selected to enter perfect pitch class. It was designated for students who have perfect pitch and potentials to be professional musicians.
I enjoyed playing piano and electric piano and won the 1st prize at Kitakantou Electric Piano Competition hosted by YAMAHA institute. Because of the intensive training, I have been accompanying my students' recitals and performance exams.
As much as I enjoyed playing piano, I discovered that I also love singing, so I started to take singing lessons and majored in vocal performance during my college days.
Since I have graduated, I have been performing opera professionally. My career highlights include roles as Cio-cio san(Madame Butterfly) with Snob Opera, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Fairy(Falstaff) with Sir B
ryn Terfel with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England, Dorinda(Orlando) with Cantanti Project, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with Opera Manhattan Studio, Frasquita (Carmen) with One World Symphony, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with Capitol Heights Opera, Alice (Le comte Ory) with West Side Opera Society, Adele (Die Fledermaus), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Myrrhine (Lysistrata) with Opera Avanti, Gilda (Rigoletto) with Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, and The First Spirit (Die Zauberflöte) with the Opera Company of Brooklyn.
My international credits include performances under the direction of Conductor Laurent Pillot at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England;the Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, France; the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Chianti,Italy; the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel where I was selected to sing for the Japanese Ambassador.
I made appearances as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Town Hall, and MOMA museum in New York City and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. As a versatile singer, I was presented as an aspiring opera singer on the website of Maybelline New York. Her voice was featured in short films for the Japanese technology company NEC. I appeared as a soprano soloist for the opera, Jazz and theater collaboration of "TAKE ABITE" by David Antonio Cruz. I also sings Broadway songs and continues her musical theater studies. She is an active recitalist and also performs Oratorio works.
I was also a finalist at the Opera Idol Competition at Lincoln Center in New York City, The Hariclea Darclée Voice Competition in Romania and the Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin Vocal Competition in New York City. Ms. Uchida was selected as a vocal scholarship recipient at Savannah music festival.
Her upcoming engagements in 2019 include performing concerts with Philharmonie Teplice, Neubrandenburg, Germany, the title role of Lucia di Lammermoore and a lieder recital with Opera After Hours, New York. Ms. Uchida gave a recital hosted by Russian Cultural Center in Kiev 2019. Asuka is invited to give a recital at Festival dell’arte in Wojanow, Poland in August 2019.
Besides being an opera singer, I have been teaching piano and voice for 11 years. I would like to share my skills and experience with you. Since I perform often, I can coach you how to perform on stage in addition to building solid technique and languages. Also, I have taught various kinds of music, such as Rock, Broadway musicals, Pop music, so we can work on all kind of music.
I look forward to teaching you soon!
*** Lesson Details *** My students can expect to improve their skills and start to enjoy music more as we work together. I believe that learning music is fun and enjoyable. However you also need to be serious and focused. I can demonstrate various and specific techniques, phrasing, and interpretation and will always coach on how to develop your skills. However, I feel it is important for students to think critically on their own and take the first try at solving a problem themselves. I cannot emphasize enough that primarily it is you who find the ways to improve. Leaning music is a collaboration between teachers and students. I hope that through my lessons, students will become more self-sufficient and confident as musicians. Let me help you become a better musician.
*** Studio Equipment *** Piano (Clavinova), music stand, and desk.
*** Travel Equipment *** By Subway, the closest station is 23rd street. You can take C, E train(within one block). 1 train(one block), M, F train (2 blocks).
Asuka, was wonderful. I've been looking forward to learning Japanese for a long time. She is very detailed and patient. Excellent teacher!
June 1, 2019
On behalf of my son who is 15. Before finding Asuka, Lukas had taken voice lessons from several very good teachers (between breaks we would experiment with teachers).
Now with Asuka he feels most comfortable and feels he learns more per lesson with Asuka. More progress with all aspects of voice. She helps prepare for auditions with Broadway vocals and advance on the more serious and challenging Opera selections.
So the actual lessons are great and Asuka is also a charm; engaging and personable. As the parent I very much like she remains a professional singer as her career.
So we are staying with Asuka through the breaks and may even extend into piano lessons as well.
I would recommend Asuka without hesitation.
Teaching guitar, and music for over 15 years, 10+ years of that time spent in professional music schools and shops. In addition, I spent 6 years in a special needs school, teaching general music, and guitar to students with learning and behavior issues.
I have had the pleasure of learning from numerous guitar teachers and mentors over the years including, T.T. Quick guitarist, David Dipietro. Recently having toured the US with national acts in the band McClinton, sharing stages with national acts such as: Saving Abel, Adelita's Way, Framing Hanley, Red, Winger, Steelheart, Bad Seed Rising, LA Guns and many more. I'm proud to say that I have taken the skills I've honed during those years to stages and studios around the country. I am currently active in the local NJ cover circuit with the band "Our Vicious Circle".
I can help you m
ake sense of concepts that many students find confusing, while focusing on the goals the student wishes to achieve. Ultimately, I teach a student to be able to progress independently. Learning songs is fine, and a great way to get motivated, but in the end it's about learning the concepts that allow the student to learn those songs on his/her own and be able to use those elements to create their own music. I teach all styles, and levels!
I am currently unable to offer lessons at my home studio, but still provide lessons online or in your home. Also offering lessons for Bass guitar!
Gavin has it all. Proud to know him and entirely thrilled about the work he has done with my teenager. He's a gem and wonderful to be around on top of being an excellent musician and gifted teacher.
May 29, 2019
Gavin was very patient with and inspiring at the same time to our 6yr old boy who took guitar lessons at our home. Like any 6-yr old who is interested in music but also very easily distracted, Gavin did a great job in keeping him engaged and get him started with the basics. Thanks Gavin god bless you!

Gavin is thorough, patient & engaging. Wonderful instructor I would recommend to everyone!
Hello there! I hope that in reading this you will find some valuable information in choosing the right teacher for you!
I am an opera singer by trade and I also have experience performing in contemporary bands, musical theater, solo piano concerts, as well as classical voice concerts.
I hold a Bachelor degree in piano and voice, a Master's degree in Vocal Performance, and an Artist Diploma in Opera.
I enjoy teaching as much as I enjoy performing because it's a way to share what I have learned and plant a seed in students who may want to take music seriously or just as a hobby.
I teach in a variety of styles pop, musical theater, and classical and I'm always open to what you as a student want to get from your lessons and tutoring. I've had a private studio for the past 5 years and have experience teaching in a grade sch
ool and collegiate levels of music. My students have ranged from 5 years old to Adult Senior age. All lessons and goals are targeted to your specific needs and desires and I'm always happy to be that guide who will help you perform in a healthy and enjoyable way.
Zaray has been my teacher for over 4 years and has been amazing! She taught me mostly everything about music and helped me get accepted into one of the best schools in Florida. I took singing lessons and piano lessons that helped me learn a lot, because of her I was able to preform in new York and attend the All-state elementary choir. Overall an excellent teacher, I really recommend!
July 7, 2017
Zaray has done such great work. She really takes the time to diagnose the problem with her stellar ear and to prescribe the best exercises to enhance the vocal mechanism. Not only does she have an abundant technical vocabulary, she really personalizes her style of teaching for each student. Apart from being technically a wizard, she is one of the most joyful people to be around. Her calm demeanor and easy going self really makes a student of every level comfortable. I highly recommend!!
Hello! My name is Ian Levy and I specialize in Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute private study. As a graduate of the New School - College of Performing Arts, regular performer, and private teacher in New York City, music has been the passion and greatest joy of my life. Private teaching has been the most rewarding experience and balance to my own professional career in music. Throughout weekly lessons, my students develop proper techniques for practicing efficiently and also learn ways to seek out the great instrumentalists and music that speaks to them. Sound, technique, musicality, and expression are the corner stones to my teaching and practicing.
I am a professional drummer, recording artist, and educator, with over 26 years performing and teaching.
I graduated from Stony Brook University with a minor is Jazz, and as a founding member of the university's big band, the "SBU Blowage," under the direction of legendary trombonist, Ray Anderson.
Drum students will see immediate positive results from lessons, including improved technical abilities and the confidence to explore new musical pathways on their journey to find their own sound and style.
I teach symphonic snare drum, orchestral percussion, drum set, rudimental percussion, hand percussion with associated NYSSMA requirements.
I have experience with students of all different ages, abilities and experience levels. I've studied percussion and drum set since 1990, and rudimental and hand drums since 1999. I can teach students
to read music, as well as transcribe arrangements and transpose by ear. With consistent lessons, students can learn to play along to their favorite music, and develop confidence to practice and perform with other musicians in a group setting.
As a professional touring and recording artist, I am happy to share my knowledge of playing in multiple musical settings, and the "business" of playing music. My passion is for live performance, and it is essential to help students feel confident while playing for an audience.
Our focus will be on developing proper technique, listening carefully and critically to recordings, and building a foundational music vocabulary via reading and writing.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and expertise with you!
Since I was a little girl, I had always dreamed of learning to play the piano. My parents could never afford to pay for lessons, so I had to wait until I was an adult. But let me tell you something, it doesn't matter what age you are! Everyone has the ability to learn if you put the time and energy into it! I learned using the Suzuki method, therefore that is my preferred method of teaching. Starting on book 2, you or your child will be playing music by well known composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Clementi, Schumann, and Mozart!
I will teach you correct posture, finger posture, technique, how to read music, and you will be given suggestions on what to practice and work on after each lesson. You will also learn to play with confidence.
For the students that come to my home to learn, they will also have the chance to perform in fro
nt of an audience on stage, on a 7' grand piano, twice a year. We will have these recitals once in the spring and then again in the fall. It's a great experience to have!
"I have learned so much in the first month of lessons. Francesca teaches more than basic guitar. You just have to try her out for yourself."
"Justine is quite knowledgeable and patient, as she tailors the lessons to the student's ability and interest."
"I have had the pleasure of knowing Arden for the past 15 years. She is truly a remarkable human being! She has an amazing personality that exudes a calm,
relaxing, caring and compassionate person. As a piano teacher myself, these are important characteristics to have for a teacher! She works very well with her students, instilling the joy and love for the piano. I highly recommend Arden as your teacher. You will not be disappointed!"
"Justice is great. Has lots of patience and his piano classes have been great for my son.We will definitely keep using his services for as long as possible."
"Started my class six months ago and I must say a brilliant tabla instructor I could ever ask for. His way of teaching is just fabulous. He always keeps in
mind how the class can be made interesting and gives the same. I am so fortunate that I am learning from him."
"Howard really helped me with learning the piano. I'm a singer who wanted to learn enough piano to write songs and eventually accompany myself. Howard is
gifted at discerning your learning style, strengths & weaknesses and he tailors his teaching to your needs. During my lessons with him I learned so much. Not just about the piano and composition, but I learned a lot about myself and how to recognize my obstacles and how to practically tackle and overcome them."
"very skilled, upbeat-good grasp of my needs"
"I couldn't have asked for a better teacher!
Blake Clifford goes beyond the 'call of duty' & really takes the time to make sure that his students receive
exactly what they need. The teaching environment is comfortable & relaxed with all of the professional resources you would expect & more.
With Blake Clifford you get real professional training - he knows what he's talking about, & he gets straight to the point. In just the little time that I've been taking classical guitar with Blake, I've learned so much. He teaches skills that you can actually apply - it's not just a bunch of theory, and that helps me out a lot by getting to the real 'meat' of the training fast.
I highly recommend Blake Clifford to anyone who is absolutely serious about improving their musicianship & getting over stubborn plateaus."
