John works with students to teach and reinforce the fundamentals of and build good foundations for acting. No matter your skill level, John will use his experience as a director and a coach to work with actors towards their goals when it comes to building repertoire or preparing for auditions. John works within a modified form of Viewpoints Method (as well as derivative forms of Stanislavsky and Meisner) and lessons involve movement-based warm-ups, grounding exercises, work through improv, and text work/character building. Audition prep lessons will have a heavier-emphasis on building rep and preparing/working through audition cuts. Audition Prep courses are for ACTING and MUSICAL THEATRE and John will help you find and prepare both songs and monologues!
I have a huge range of interests in the performing arts. At Northwestern, I trained simultaneously in acting, directing, music theatre, legal studies (for fun), and composition/writing. This course is about how to learn to say the 44 sounds in English (including the 20 vowel international phonics sounds) quickly and to reduce your accent audibly. A suggested twice a week course. We will cover the most important phonics/sounds that my clients - from India, China, France, Russia, Brazil, Spain and so on - have the most problems with doing business in the US/Silicon Valley. You don't have to go through all the lectures, just pick the areas you feel you still have to work on and practice the words diligently.
You will see the slides that go with the video and most of the time, I also uploaded additional practice materials. If you work on your English pronunciation consistently, you will see results really fast.
Master the American Accent book will be provided (228 pages).
Who this course is for:
