I’ve been playing guitar for 18 years. Ive been doing it for a living for 16 years. Acoustic, electric, rock, jazz, country, funk, lead, rhythm, flatpick, fingerpick...pick a style I’ve played it. My lesson plan will expand your knowledge of chords and scales, and how to use them. I’ll give you exercises to increase speed, dexterierity. You’ll learn music theory while learning your favorite songs, and learn how to apply your knowledge to make learning and writing new songs easier. You will learn something new every lesson, and see noticeable progress after the first couple of sessions.

I have been playing violin since kindergarten, and I have experiences in teaching beginner students at SUNY Albany campus and I absolutely loved it! Music Performance was one of my majors of my undergraduate degrees, and I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to perform a solo piece, Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in my senior year. I am currently enrolled in a Master's program for Intercultural Communication & English language education. Teaching has been one of my long-lasting passions and I am more than happy to work with various levels of violin learners. Hope to hear from you soon!!

Hikaru is down to earth, conversational and a great teacher. I have already learned so much from her. I can't say enough good things about her. If you make time to study on your own, in conjunction with her lessons you'll be picking up the language in no time at all!

Ear training is the study of understanding exactly what it is you're hearing. This is an essential skill for all musicians. I have extensive experience in teaching and tutoring ear training at all levels.

It might sound strange, but most people listen to music without knowing what's going on. They don't know the melodies, the rhythms, or the chords. Hearing these and understanding them is transformative to the experience of listening to music.

Students begin by learning to hear interval, the distances between notes relative to each other. Rhythm, melody, chord quality and chord progression round out the basic program.

Skill in ear training is developed by listening, playing, singing, and writing down what you hear.

About Brendan

I excel at the process of teaching and guiding students to get results. I know how to relate to students in different ways to help them understand problems and find solutions. I understand how frustrating and mentally exhausting practicing can be, and I know what to teach and when to teach it. I al

Before taking lessons with her, I was auditioning for shows using songs that weren’t the right fit for my voice. She helped me master my audition and I got the role! "Christian is not only a talented musician, but he is also a true guitar teacher. So far, I have taken 4 classes and I've learned more with his methods than any other way. I've had tried from the Fender Play app, YouTube videos, to other instructors, but nothing compares to his teachings. He is patient and truly pays attention to what I am struggling with. He breaks everything down piece by piece. If one way doesn't work, he tries a different way until I understand. As mentioned before, he is a gifted teacher. One thing is to be a great guitar player who teaches how to play a few chords, and another is to be a great guitar player who puts him/herself in the student's shoes and help them progress with each lesson. He is one of a kind. Thanks, Christian!"

"Awesome teacher

Eric is awesome. He has a foundation in theory and formal training, but doesn't let that inhibit creativity and fun. I've only just started lessons with him but I've learned a lot already. I think he has a real talent for intuiting the students' personality and goals, and formatting his skills to their context. Plus, he records every lesson, and has very helpful technique recordings to practice with at home.
I'm very excited to continue lessons with him."

How to Be a Singer: Finding Gigs as a Backup Vocalist

Backup singing is a crucial part of great albums and concerts. While it may seem that the lead singer has a tough job, it's easy to forget how challenging it is to seamlessly weave complex harmonies into an overall melody, all without taking over the spotlight. If you’re a singer who doesn’t necessarily want to take center stage, consider a career as a backup singer. Great backup singers get to be a part of some amazing experiences without the harsh glare of fame. It’s a big job, but it's …
