Why do you want to play saxophone? Are you a beginner and want to learn it for school? Looking for a new hobby? Want to get into the state band? Or maybe you're looking for something more serious? Whatever your goal may be, I am here to help :)

I have a very detailed curriculum that my students go through. I pick studies that will help push you to being a better player. These include both jazz and classical saxophone. I also like having my students pick a piece they want to work on at the same time!

About Stephen

I recently graduated the Boston Conservatory with a Bachelors of Music in Saxophone Performance. I finished Cum Laude along with a minor in Philosophy. I am continuing my education at Boston University to get a Masters in Music for saxophone performance. I pitch to my students to live a very ba

I am a beginner saxophone player and Stephen's lesson has been really good for me. He is able to pace his lessons based on my needs and I really like how he assigns practice material to work on before our next lesson. We always start off each lesson with reviewing the practice material and he always gives me detailed feedback and is really patient even if I was not able to master the practice material. He also lets me bring songs I want to learn and guides me through it. I look forward to our lessons every week. I would recommend Stephen to anyone who is looking to get better at playing saxophone.

The voice is our first instrument, and accordingly, our most natural one to express the creative impulses of our soul. However, there are several challenges we need to overcome in order to make it really shine.
The first is that we hear our own voice differently than others hear it - from "inside our head." So it takes some practice to learn different ways of hearing ourselves. The second challenge is that most music doesn't happen in isolation, but with other people's involvement. So unless you plan to sing "a capella" (without instrumental accompaniment) and just for your own enjoyment, you need to learn how to relate what you sing to other sounds. This requires a good deal of practice and it is certainly easier with the help of a skilled teacher to help you learn not only what to listen for, but how to control your voice to make it do what you want.
Then there are technical refinements like breath control, articulation, intonation, projection, resonance, ear training, etc.

I've just done my first session w/Sean. I'm signing on for a while as he seems very approachable, knowledgeable, and flexible. He also has a varied background w/singing/songwriting/guitar playing which will work for my new approach. He also works in several complimentary areas of music & likes Rumi & J. Mitchell as much as I do!

Sean has been great for this newbie to singing. He's been flexible around my work schedule, and patient at teaching both practical singing and some music theory.

I believe in the extraordinary power of music to communicate, to inspire and, often, to heal. That belief underlies all my work. I teach a fundamental classical vocal technique that allows your voice to soar naturally and comfortably. In addition, I have extensive experience helping my students with all manner of performance anxiety and other issues. I'm kind, patient and want you to shine.

My goal is to help you find the power to express through singing your unique self. It doesn't matter whether your voice is professional quality or whether it's even "good" in the conventional sense. It's YOUR voice. It has its own sound and characteristics, its own particular beauty, and the world needs to hear you!

I have advanced training and expertise in musical study and vocal pedagogy, but the most important qualities I offer as a teacher are the simple human ones: understanding, patience, imagination, kindness, enthusiasm, respectfulness and absolute commitment to helping you meet your ...

Nancy is kind and caring. She really takes the time to get to know you and your voice in order to craft a method that works best for you. I started out with no real experience and a bunch of bad habits, and she has been able to effortlessly work with that. I look forward to my lesson with her every week. I knew the moment I saw her profile that she stood out from the rest. Don't hesitate to give her a try!

She is honest and super helpful

Nancy is the best instructor i could have hoped for! I was very shy and insecure about my voice. She knew exactly how to work with me to sing confidently.
After a month of working with Nancy, i realized that with practice, i too can become a good singer. My goal is to have a mini concert for friends this summer. I’m confident that my lessons with Nancy will get me there

"Ramona is a welcoming and moving teacher with the agility to work with a beginner like me! I came to Ramona having played guitar for many years but never having sang and never having learned theory or how to combine the two. She was able to identify confidently what I should work on and what she worked on w me. It's working well and now I'm hammering away on favorite songs and finally singing. Great to work with; very comfortable atmosphere as well. Highly recommend her."

What are the Hardest Cello Pieces? How to Get from Beginner to Advanced Player

As a beginner I often told myself I would know I am a really great cellist when I could play Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee at full speed. To my young ears, this simply had to be one of the hardest cello pieces with its high range, chromaticism, and famously fast tempo. As my musical career continued I worked on these and other skills to reach a point I could begin learning the piece confidently, and it was only a matter of time before I achieved my goal. Of course, this wasn’ …
