In 2014, I graduated Valedictorian from Full Sail University with a Bachelors Degree in Recording Arts. No matter what software or hardware you have, my lesson plan will have you laying down tracks after the first lesson. From there we’ll go over a variety of topics including mic selection and placement, inputs, returns, plugins, compression, EQ, modulators, delays, reverbs, tracking, mixing, and more.

John is a fantastic instructor. He has a love for educating others on musical expression and he is a wellspring of musical knowledge. He provides a depth to the piano that I wouldn't have noticed if I taught myself how to play.

John emphasized how to shape musical phrases to make music as opposed to a collection of notes. He had a good ear for honing in on my weaknesses such as how some notes that I played stuck out or the movement of my arms. Most importantly, he taught me how to approach practicing the piano in an effective way. I learned how to listen to myself and how give each note, phrase, and piece the attention and musicality it needed to sound beautifully.

For an adult learner as myself, he was accommodating with how busy I was. He adjusted to my needs and work schedule and taught at a reasonable pace. However, he also never veered from his expectations and praised what I was doing right and provided methods to fix what I was doing wrong.

Although there were times when John expressed his passion for music by delving into tangents on the broader historical significance of pieces, his mini-lectures were never irrelevant nor inappropriate. For example, he commented on how in waltzes, the rhythm on the left hand would need to emulate how a Romantic era string section would play it. For anyone who is serious about how or why pieces of music are meant to be played in a certain way, John is great about contextualizing pieces to make them sound great.

Most importantly, he made practicing piano something that was both enjoyable and challenging, which is difficult to find in a teacher. I owe a great deal of my musicianship to John and he met my expectations of learning the piano. Thank you!

When I came to Bill I had hopes and dreams of having the ability to read and play any kind of piano music. As a child I struggled with reading music during 3 years of lessons with a strict classical teacher, but held on to the dream. I have waited over 50 years to live the dream I am fulfilling now. Bill had me reading and playing any piano arrangement I wanted in 3 months. I play classical, gospel, movie themes and more and loving it all. His unique teaching method inspires you with an "I can do this" attitude. He analyzes who you are, your own style and abilities and raises the bar with every lesson. As I play, he shows me how to enhance my performance with every note. He couples insight with knowledge and his 30+ years of experience to create a true pianist. He tells me I am the composer when I play, own the music. He tells me "don't just play the music, become the music". After 2 years of lessons I am living my dream and preparing for concert level opportunities. Whether young or old (I am 73 years old), Bill can inspire and teach you to play. I often wonder where I would be in the music world if he would have been my childhood teacher. I highly recommend Bill to start your child's music foundation on the right track or for yourself - to live your dream too. Thank you Bill for all you do and who you are!

Stephanie helped my younger one prepare for competition. She was highly skillful, supportive yet strict. Initially, my girl was a bit nervous to work with Stephanie because of her high reputation. Stephanie was very kind and fun, using metaphors to help my 10-year old understand the music. She not only helped my child overcome barriers to master the music piece but also shared much practical advice for competition. We did not expect this but my 10-year old won the first prize and was invited to perform in Carnegie Hall New York. Highly recommend Stephanie!!!

Stephanie is one of the best teachers you can possibly find through Takelessons. We are extremely fortunate to have found her. She is a successful professional musician who is very strict yet with a kind heart and skills/experiences to steer students through their learning limitations. I had trouble to make my older daughter to practice piano for years, and almost came to the point to have her given up learning. Stephanie changed everything. Now my older daughter is getting not only serious with piano but practicing harder then ever. I am so happy to see the results. Highly recommend her!!!

"I have been working with Cathy now for three months and I couldn't be happier! She is the first and last name in vocal coaching for the Santa Clarita Valley, in my opinion - she's cheaper than most of the other teachers out here, but has more experience with performing, touring, and working with vocally disadvantaged individuals (i.e., speech impediments, volume disparities, confidence issues, etc.) than anyone else my friend and I know of. She has helped me come out of my shell and boost my confidence more in the past few months than my own parents could do in my entire life! Working with Cathy, I was finally able to audition for one of the plays local to this area, something I've wanted to do for years, but always talked myself out of. Therefore, I credit Cathy with my success personally, and in the theater community out here.
In short, she is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED; she sends out a list of possible time-slots available for you (or your child) promptly after you contact her and can help expand your knowledge and technique of singing/acting/speaking in just a matter of a few lessons. :)"

"Mia is an absolutely outstanding teacher. I came in for my first lesson horrified to sing, not knowing anything about performing. And in just a few months of learning with Mia I was cast in my first show. Fast forward a few more months and I have been accepted to the college of my choice in their Musical Theater program. In just a year she has helped me achieve my goals that seemed so out of this world to me in the beginning but now are a reality. She is not only amazing at the technical stuff, but she is so genuinely invested in helping you be the best that you can be. She changed my life and I'm so grateful to her."

"I started taking drum lessons at age 22 so I felt too old to begin learning how to play a new instrument. I'm so glad that Dennis was my teacher. He gave me confidence and encouragement to become the great drum player I am today. His methods of teaching are well rounded, his lesson plans are efficient and since day one he guaranteed I would be ready to play songs with a band in only 6 months. Indeed I started playing with several bands after 6 months of having lessons with Dennis. I highly recommend him as a drum teacher and mentor!"
