Natasha S.

Hoffman Estates, IL

The first few lessons are a learning experience for the teacher as well as the student. I always ask my students what they want from their lessons. I pair the student's desires with my assessment of their current level and knowledge to help us work together to create lessons that work with their learning style.

About Natasha

About me

I'm a classical violinist with degrees in Music and Anthropology from Butler University. I've been playing and performing since 1996 and have been teaching since 2006. I am currently pursing a Master's in Education at North Park University.

Teaching style

I studied Suzuki violin until 2005 and then switched to a more traditional learning style. I am well versed in both Suzuki philosophy and repertoire as well as that of traditional teaching. I form my lessons around the need of my student. A basic lesson will include scales, etudes, and a full length piece. At times, workshee
ts or other assignments may be given to help create a cohesive learning environment.

My main focus of a lesson will always be to ensure that my student is learning and enjoying their time with music.

Annarita T.

Des Plaines, IL

I like making music fun. With the knowledge that playing an instrument is very difficult, my approach to teaching is to make each task seem as easy as possible. I promote the art of listening to music just as much as playing the notes on the page. I incorporate all the important aspects of violin playing: posture, sight-reading, technique, scales, and musicality to turn all my students into the best musicians they can be!

About Annarita

My name is Annarita and I am a violinist from Des Plaines, Illinois. I began playing at the age of seven, and by the time I was in high school I realized I wanted to make the violin my career.

I attended Loyola University Chicago and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music. In 2010, I began performing with the Fox Valley Orchestra and continue performing with them today.

I was lucky enough to have studied abroad during the fall semester of 2011. I lived in Vienna, Austria for a few months to expand my knowledge of classical music.

I enjoy performing with different ensem
bles and I also have a passion for teaching. I worked with People's Music School in Chicago as a violin teacher and ensemble coach. Today I work with the Chicago Metamorphosis Orchestra Project as a violin teacher and also teach a wide range of private students.

*** Lesson Details ***
1. I set goals with my students and give them the tools they need in order to reach them.
2. I explain how the assigned studies will help improve students' overall ability to play the violin
3. I keep my lessons at an appropriate difficulty for each student.
4. Most importantly, I teach students how to practice efficiently and with patience. Improvement does not happen overnight; but with a little focus and patience, it will come a lot sooner than you think!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a music stand. Students must have an instrument, assigned music, and a metronome if necessary.
