Kelly M.

Acworth, GA

About Kelly

I am very lucky to be able to share my passion for playing the flute with others for a living! It is so fun to hear how students grow with each lesson! I have taught beginning-advanced private flute lessons for 10+ years from children just starting out in band and adult beginners wanting to cross off an item on their bucket list! It is never too late to start, and can actually be very good for improving your breathing!

In 2009 I graduated from the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana with my Master's in Flute Performance. Prior to that I attended Florida State University and earned my
Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance.

Bio
I was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. At the age of 12 I started taking flute lessons with Betsy Hudson-Traba, principal flutist of the Sarasota Orchestra. Throughout high school, I played in Sarasota’s youth orchestra program and was a winner of the Young Artist Competition. With lots of hard work, I also won first chair flute in All-State multiple times.

With a solid foundation in flute playing, I went on to study with Eva Amsler at Florida State University where I earned my Bachelor of Music in flute performance. I had a lot of wonderful playing opportunities here and as an undergraduate was playing in the top orchestra. During my time at FSU I was a proud member of the “world renown” Marching CHIEFS, where I served as section leader to 50 plus flutes! One of my favorite and more unique ensembles I participated in was the Andean ensemble, Aconcagua, where I played the zampona (panpipes) and the quena (Andean flute).

After undergrad, I decided to go abroad for graduate school earning my Master’s at a small conservatory in beautiful Lugano, Switzerland called the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana. I studied under Italian flutists, Mario Ancillotti, Stefano Parrino, and Giovanni Crola. I also had many opportunities to pursue my love of travelling and work on my foreign language skills! Although, I could use some more practice… would love to find some Italian and German students to brush up my skills!

After heading home to the States I began my freelance career substituting in various orchestras in Florida including the Sarasota Orchestra, Sarasota Ballet Orchestra, and the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. I now live in Acworth, Georgia where I teach privately and freelance. In addition to music, I love spending time with my family, friends, my husband, Vance, and our adorable kitties (Ron & Harry) and dog (Leia). I also enjoy reading, hiking, baking, organizing, and cleaning!

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in flute and piccolo solo, orchestral, band, and chamber ensemble playing and also audition prep.

Donnie H.

Marietta, GA

About Donnie

Hello! I have been playing the drums since I was 3 years old and have always loved to share my joys of playing music. I have been fortunate to study under the best performers in the world and have applied their knowledge into my lesson plans for each student.

I am a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where I studied many styles of music including Rock, Pop, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Latin, and Brazilian, as well as music theory courses from classical theory to advanced jazz theory. I have years of experience teaching students as Director of Percussion at the Woodward A
cademy, South Cobb High School, and as well as teaching privately.

With each student I create a unique lesson plan that aligns to their goals and current skill level. Lessons are taught so that the process can be ENJOYED; music needs to make us happy both in creating and listening. Music theory and concepts are taught alongside technique and "chops" to ensure a well-rounded musician is formed.

This guy is the real deal. I'm a very experienced intermediate level drummer looking to take my skill to the next level. He listened to me play for a few minutes and immediately developed a game plan. Donnie is an incredibly nice guy, and an exceptionally good teacher. I took a chance on him since he didn't have many reviews, but I'm glad I did. A+, would definitely recommend Donnie to anyone.

I've known Donnie for a long time.... I like to call him my colleague, but really , you might say I have learned some of my own most valuable lessons, and insights through his extraordinary Talen,t coupled with an extraordinary ability to communicate helping students their learning needs, concisely explaining Concepts , and through complete Mastery of his crafts, I would say that he would be your best option as far as any musical instructor, especially available here online... he outo be teaching in an Ivy League school. I could go on, but his credentials are obviously as good as it gets. Go ahead and stop searching and just hire this guy
