I have been taking vocal classes with Mrs. Lawson off and on about 3 years or so. At first I thought being that I have a male voice type and her as a women that she wouldn't really be able to help me. She approved me wrong and exceeded my expectation of her. The thing i love most about Ms.Lawson is that she is very patient and she would make sure you understand the material. She is very knowledgeable and she never puts you down and she helps you gain that confidence within yourself. If you are looking for a vocal teacher I Highly recommend I am now doing things that I couldn't never done and now I'm doing it with ease and skillfully. I give her 2 thumbs up!!!!!!

Axel O.

Miami, FL

About Axel

I found out early on (age of 13) that I had a facility to teach and help friends understand music concepts. Some said it's a gift, others said it's vocation. To me it was just sharing what I loved. Since I had already decided to make music my career I made it a point to learn more and all I could in this field. Three degrees later (B.M /Berklee College of Music, B.M and M.M. /University of Miami) having studied under amazing Masters and years of performing, touring, producing and recording I have a lot to offer anyone, any age, any level when they choose me as their music teacher.

*** Lesson
Details ***
My students would describe our lessons as fun and enjoyable. That's because I want everyone to learn the basics of music in a relaxed and comfortable environment. I'm easy going and encouraging in character and make it a point to explain in the simplest manner the many concepts of music. I help students develop good habits of practice so they can improve their skills by giving them personal tips. Each student is unique and learns at a particular pace. I'm in tune with the student and move accordingly helping him/her navigate thru the music lesson while providing assistance towards reaching their specific goals.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano /keyboards/ protools in my studio with living room seating for parents. Coffee/water always complementary. Protools recording studio available for my student singers at discounted rates. Affordable and competitive rates for amateur-professional singers looking to record/produce a demo.

*** Travel Equipment ***
None. Currently not traveling to students homes. Lessons available at my studio only.

*** Specialties ***
Studied Jazz & Classical. Performed Pop, Rock, R&B and Latin musical styles.

Axel is incredibly friendly! I'm 23 and working on my singing voice, and stage performance. Axel's lessons are informative and appropriate to whatever skill level you're at (I'm a beginner). I was relaxed the moment I walked into his studio. I'm happy with the lessons.

I am really happy to have found Axel. I have no singing experience and recently joined a church choir. He was able to show me how to get the best out of my voice and build self confidence. His teaching style is well organized and after every class my voice sounded better to my ears than before.

Very happy student!

AMAZING!!!

Axel is an absolutely wonderful instructor. He has a wealth of knowledge to offer including classical training techniques, how to preserve one's singing voice, and how to maximize on your personal style. He is disciplined but also unafraid to allow you to take risks. Axel stresses artistic freedom and performance power. My vocal range as well as my breathing improved under his instruction. Most importantly, Axel is willing to go the extra mile for his students. He is very supportive and puts in an extraordinary amount of time and effort in order to help his students succeed. I highly recommend him!

Matthew P.

Miami, FL

About Matthew

My start in music began with trips from a young age to my mom's rehearsals. As a young child my first instrument of interest was the drums and noticing that I wasn't that good (sister playing better) I quickly moved on to other instruments. During my tenth grade year I joined my high school's marching band playing the trombone. I decided to continue the trombone as my primary instrument while in college at Grambling State University. There I was also able to study other instruments such as bass guitar, piano and organ. Going to college in Louisiana, which has such a musically rich environment,
allowed me the opportunity to play venues such as casinos, clubs, appear in commercials and even a halftime show for super bowl 32 as well as other NFL games. My goal for teaching music is to give students the discipline to achieve all of their life's goals.
