I place a heavy emphasis on not only playing music but understanding it. Understanding what you're playing is one of the most important differences between an amateur and a professional musician.

Music is all about relationships and patterns. I teach my students to recognize and identify these relationships and patterns to set them up on the course for musical mastery.

On guitar you can learn to read music and/or play by ear. You can learn various techniques such as fingerstyle, using a pick, or combining the two. You can learn how to utilize the entire guitar neck and play in all keys. You can learn how to play chords and melodies at the same time, and you can learn to improvise in various styles.

About Jacob

Hi, my name is Jacob. I have been teaching music lessons for a living for over 10 years. I graduated with my Ba. in music composition from the University of Oregon in 2008. I play and teach all styles of music including classical, jazz, rock, folk, and other pop styles. I place a big emphasis o

Ms. Strange was so helpful during my time working with her! She's patient, kind, has a wonderful sense of humor, but above all that: an outstanding cellist.
John
Mrs. Strange is the best teacher I have ever had. She is always well prepared going into every lesson. The lessons are clear, concise, and constructive. She does her best to adjust her teaching style to you for the best progress possible. Mrs. Strange gets to know you and cares for every student equally. She does not view you as another student because every student is important to her. You can go to her for any problems you are having with technique, tone quality, sound projection, or any other problem you may have as a student and she will work through the problems with you until you feel comfortable enough to move on to other troubles you are having. Every lesson with Mrs. Strange has a reason, you will never waste time or money with her as a teacher because she can help you achieve new heights as a musician and then surpass them. She taught me everything I needed to know in order to make it into a university for music performance and she still helps me to this day when I am struggling. I recommend her as a teacher to anyone who wants to become a better musician.

Whether you're tackling singer-songwriting, accompaniment, pop/rock, jazz/funk/r&b, or even classical exercises, I can help you. I've studied piano/voice/guitar long enough to know what each kind of instrumentalist/vocalist needs. I'm well versed in a overview of all genres and styles, as well as specialized areas of study. As a writer, I'm also very familiar with coaching instrumentalists geared towards composition and arranging. If you're looking to improve your skills, I can help!

About Jake

I want to teach the material that excites students. After a handful of really crummy experiences with teachers who wanted me to learn a specific way, I stumbled across a music school in Philadelphia and a college in Boston that really got the principle of teaching what students are drawn to. Bruc

Waldemar is the best guitar teacher, ever!!! I've improved so much since I started taking lessons from him. He's kind and patient, clear when explaining/teaching, and super talented. I love that he's a professional musician and producer, so he definitely knows what he's doing. AND, he's bilingual!!! I've been taking one-on-one lessons in his studio, and some online lessons as well -which work really well, too-, in Spanish!

"Joe is an excellent teacher

I have been studying for more than a year. Joe is extremely versatile and is able to teach any style of music. He emphasizes spending short periods of time each practice session doing exercises that strengthen your fingers by playing chords up and down the fretboard, but does'nt go overboard with repetitive drills. He has genuine love of music and is great iat intertwining theory with actual songs. I have enjoyed my lessons and highly recommend him for students begining to play as well as advanced students."

"David pointed out how I was moving incorrectly from one chord to another, I didn't even realize I was doing it. He showed me an exercise to break that bad habit, it is also helping me to move from one chord to another smoothly and easily. I can already tell the difference in just a few days. He explained things in a way, I fully understood. I had a great lesson and cant wait till the next!"

"Mark is a fantastic teacher. He is very patient and positive at all times. My teenage daughter and I both take lessons and he is very comfortable with our different learning styles and speeds. I particularly appreciate his focus on teaching from real songs. His attention to detail is great and I am always impressed that he is teaching us to listen and decode the chords, the strums and subtle little moments in the music. I highly recommend Mark - even for 50-something beginners like myself."

"My daughter has been taking lessons with Tom for over 6 years - and loves it! When she started with Tom she was a very new guitarist and now she is a proficient guitar and bass player and continues to learn new techniques and nuances enabling her to pursue a future career in music. She is now in college for music and because of Tom’s music theory lessons, she was able to start at the 2nd year level of music theory at her school. Tom’s style of mixing music theory, performance and fun is what has kept her going, week after week. Tom has also worked with her on writing and recording her music. My favorite lessons have been where Tom has put a group of the kids together to learn and play as a band – giving the kids a performance confidence that they otherwise would never have had. I highly recommend Tom to students of all ages – he is amazing!"

"Gregory took me from not knowing how to play a thing to playing guitar and singing in a band in just under a year.

I didn't know what to expect from Gregory because the teachers teaching my friends all taught the same and they didn't want to practice all that much. Greg has worked with some of my idols/ rock stars and he doesn't fool around-he gets you into what you really need to know to get to where you want to go, fast. Thank God for Gregory ValensLuv being my teacher. My friends are thinking about switching to him. I highly recommend him. He's professional, well dressed, punctual, polite and knows what he's doing. Hemay be a little more expensive than the average teacher, but you get what you pay for."

Excited about your first guitar lesson? Not sure what to expect? Read on as Goodyear, AZ teacher David A. offers his advice on how to prepare, the basics of guitar you can expect to learn, and more!    By the time I turned nine years old, I had spent six months begging my mom and dad to get me an electric guitar. When I finally had one, I was extremely eager to play it. The problem was, I didn’t know how. However, that was all about to change, because… I was about to have my very fi …
