My music education began 27 years ago with private lesson on clarinet. 5 years later, I began studying guitar, bass, theory and improvisation.

I am a professional musician who plays guitar for a local cover band. I also sub for local groups in the area and have been asked to perform as a guest musician. This is also my 4th year as musical director of a brass band in which I am responsible for selecting and arranging their music, as well as directing then during live performances.

Studying theory and multiple instruments at a young age allowed me to become quite diverse as I am able to play or teach any style. Lessons are customized to each student to ensure that the fundamentals are mastered as well as focusing on what interests the individual student.

I have taught music for 7 years and my students have ranged in age from 6-45 years old.

About Elliot

I believe that all students need to learn the fundamentals of their instrument, but lessons should be fun and geared toward the individual. My lessons are customized to each student and are the perfect combination of fundamentals and studying the styles, artists, and topics that interest YOU!

If I could give Brian 10 stars, I would. He is enthusiastic, present, supportive and highly knowledgeable. Learning instruments has always been a challenge for me , but Brian makes being a banjo beginner an absolute joy. I look forward to practicing every day, and can really hear my progress - which amazes me because it's only been just over a month. I can see myself working with Brian for the long haul. He puts me at ease, and always gives great responsive tips that improve my playing immediately. I feel SO lucky to have stumbled across his profile.

I look forward to working with Brian. He's easy going, funny and patient, but very knowledgable and goal focused.

If you're like me, signing up for music lessons comes with a healthy amount of trepidation.

I've been there. Pay a bunch of money, work on exercises for an hour, and leave feeling no better equipped to start playing real music. Rinse, repeat.

This is the big mistake I see so many instructors make when teaching new students, and it's why so many new guitar players give up. The conviction to teach fundamentals and technique overshadows the most important lesson - to nuture confidence and enjoyment while playing.

Make no mistake, we'll learn the fundamentals, and you're in good hands - I have degrees in music theory and composition, and I've studied, performed, and taught classical guitar for over 15 years. But none of that means anything to you if we don't APPLY it to what you want to play.

My approach: You pick the material and we work from the ground up to develop the skills you'll need to make it come out of your guitar. We'll use the instrument as a teaching tool to help you ...

About Keenan

I'm a classically trained guitarist with bachelor's degrees in music theory and composition. I have over 15 years of study, performance, and instruction under my belt and I've taught all ages and ability - including special needs and foreign language students. I believe firmly that every person

Experienced guitar instructor of over 10 years, offering highly-personalized lessons built around the musical preferences, needs and goals of my students. I teach students of all ages in a warm, welcoming, LGBTQIA+ friendly environment.

For beginner students the focus will be primarily on getting you able to play songs from artists you love quickly and enjoyably, with a focus on developing good rhythm, technique, guitar care and a solid foundation of chords that can be used in innumerable songs. Theory will be given in small, easily-digestible pieces, and always within the context of actual musical examples. If you're interested in learning to sing while playing, I'll also help you find ways to incorporate it early on so that it becomes more natural as you progress.

For students with some experience the direction of our lessons will be largely determined by your personal needs and goals, but subjects we might cover include songwriting, finger-picking, expanding chord vocabulary, ...

Successfully teaching current students with clear, concise lessons.

All of my current students have developed confidence and enthusiasm to learn all materials presented in an easy to comprehend format.

Each student learns at different levels so all lessons are customized to challenge them but also insure they learn and retain all materials presented to them.

Currently have 16 students ranging from beginners to advanced level.
When selecting a teacher, make arrangements to meet in person to review short and long term goals of learning a musical instrument. Pricing should only be used as the last criteria before making a final decision. It's important to insure your instructor is patient and willing to challenge students to setup a practice routine that will fit their current schedule.

If a student needs an instrument, have instructor give recommendations based on the musical styles they are interested in learning.

Students often ask how long it will take to learn to play a Guitar.

I'm Ahmad a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself guitar at the age of 12. I moved to the U.S. in 2001 and studied music for 15 years receiving my B.M. and M.M in music and audio production at San Francisco State University. I then moved to Los Angeles then studied and trained with John Mayer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and many others. I have performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well in Europe and the Middle East with Artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt, Sammy Hagar, Dokken and many others. I ranked #1 in the Slash Guitar Center competition. I was in the "list of top 5 guitar players ever" according to The Examiner, also picked as one of the best guitarists of 2013 and 2014 consecutively in the Rockwell UnScene magazine, and ranked 3rd in the Steve Vai Sam Ash Best in Shred competition.

I highly recommend taking guitar lessons with Ahmad. I've had instructors in the past who I realized weren't the best match for what I was I was trying to accomplish and the first lesson gave me the space to feel out if Ahmad was going to be a good match for me! After the first lesson I immediately knew Ahmad was going to be professional, skilled, easy to work with, and open-minded. I really appreciated that Ahmad was down to go outside of your standard lessons in music theory and cater my experience in a way that would fast track me to what I wanted to accomplish within my lessons. As a self-taught musician who has been playing in touring bands for about the last 4 years I had a lot of different strengths and weaknesses. Ahmad helped me hone in on areas that would allow me to boost my confidence in practices and live performances while developing skills to better communicate musically with my bandmates. I believe Ahmad is the perfect instructor for all skill levels and backgrounds. He is an extremely talented and versatile musician. In addition to his abilities as a musician and instructor, he is patient, easy to communicate with, motivating, and understanding.
Natasha
I purchased four weeks of lessons and loved working with Ahmad so much that I continued weekly sessions with him after! I am a beginner and Ahmad did an incredible job walking me through the basics but in a way that was still interesting - we chose songs that I actually wanted to learn and that made it much more fun to practice. He took advantage of every minute of the lesson and often times went over - really nice when you only have 30 minutes sessions. Plus he is hilarious! If you are thinking about taking lessons with Ahmad, no matter what level, do it! :)

Ahmad is a wonderful instructor and musician. He connects with people of all levels and is able to break down complicated ideas into more easily digestible pieces.
