Focusing on diverse techniques, including types of characters, staging, blocking of scenes, costuming, creating characters, improv and games for each concept.
In the past years we've done excerpts from The Polar Express, The Wizard of Oz, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and George and the Marvelous Medicine.
This summer of 2014, we're doing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where we are discussing staging, blocking, creating costumes and props.
We are constantly play games to reinforce the techniques presented each week and the students always have fun. They walk away confident and wanting to learn more.
Spend time on costuming and set design, by creating with the materials we find at Goodwill, thrift stores and other retail businesses. We look over the characters descriptions and utilize our creative to flow with costuming and scenery.

Andrew is a fantastic teacher! He puts in hard work and creates a fun environment to learn

We have had a great experience with Andrew teaching our daughter piano. He works great with kids and has a wide range of teachable skills. He organizes fun events for his students that showcase their hard work. I am really pleased with our decision to enroll our daughter in his program, she has a lot of fun and has learned a lot in a short amount of time.
Brent
I can't choose a subject because Andrew teaches so many different things in his piano lessons that I would be doing him a disservice if I chose just one.

As a former piano lessons taker myself, I must admit that I had some lofty expectations for my daughter's piano lessons. On the first day of lessons for her, I knew that we were in great hands. Andrew has exceeded my expectations with every turn. And a fun and lighthearted way, and through games, activities, and fingers on the piano , Andrew helps the young learner learn the most important thing about music: it's fun! Theory is fun, composition is fun, ear training is fun, performance is fun. As a musician myself, I'd almost forgot. Andrew has helped me to remember, and is instilling these values in my daughter.

Thank you Andrew for being so awesome.

This was my first time modeling in a show, and my overall experience was great. Tamika provided great feedback regarding walking, using modeling stance, posing, and how to have fun and interact with the audience. She chose awesome people to walk for her in the show, and we all got along really well. Tamika communicated professionally and respectfully to her models. She also provided all of the clothing for the show which was great because I did not have to come out of pocket to get additional clothing. I would suggest that she get an assistant to help her on the day of the show.

I used to have a massive struggle with acting. I started from square one. I was determined to become the best actor I possibly could. When my acting skills finally got to a high enough level, it took me to Musical Theatre, Theatre, Opera and occasionally Film. I have also directed Theatre here and there. I am versatile and knowledgeable and currently performing as an Opera singer. I am excited to work with new students!

"The skills I gained as an actor studying with Shauna Kanter have never left my acting toolbox and feel as fresh in my mind today as when she first taught me. Shauna brought a whole world of new possibility to my acting, as I reached new heights with character physicality and also found new ways of accessing emotional depth within my character. Shauna always created an inspiring environment that felt safe to for me to push myself and not be afraid to fall. My experience with Shauna was inspiring and so valuable. "Molly was the perfect choice for my daughter, who was preparing to audition for an academy of arts high school. Molly was so full of enthusiasm and love for her craft, and her energy is contagious. She was able to put my daughter at ease, assist her in memorization of her monologue, prepare her for improvisation and even have her some rudimentary vocal training. Her ability to encourage my daughters dramatic choices while gently guiding her and putting her completely at ease was magnificent. More importantly, she made everything FUN! Her work with my daughter was successful, and my daughter was able to audition with confidence and poise. Thanks to Molly, my daughter was accepted into the Academy of Arts and is on her way to an exciting high school career. Thanks, Molly!!!!!"

An Actor's Life: Your Career Path to New York Shows

If you're an aspiring Broadway performer, the steps you take during high school play a significant role in your success on the stages of New York shows in the future. Sure, you sometimes hear stories of people who book amazing lead roles in shows after a single audition, but that’s not a realistic view of how it all happens - for most actors, at least. Ask any working Broadway performer – New York is not a city that hands you success simply because you’ve just moved there. Hard work, disc …
