Lessons are fun. My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come. Learning to play a musical instrument will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime.

After 3 months students will understand the fundamentals of their string instrument, know how to care for their instrument, warm up properly, be able to read and play introductory passages. After 6 months the student will have learned basic music theory, how to read music, and have advanced through playing multiple songs.

Music is awesome!! I teach all levels and all kinds of music: from Bach to Brahms, Pop songs, Rock and Roll, beginner to advanced and everywhere in between. I love teaching both classical and non classical music because all music is beautiful and can remind us of a favorite song or maybe even a fond memory. I teach how to learn music by ear and love the deeper connection that understanding all the notes of a piece can bring to a performance. I teach duets (of any level) for the purpose of practicing chamber music skills. I’ve taught students ages 5-19 for over 5 years and have a degree in Viola Performance.

Lets get fiddling-on the viola! I believe in creating well-rounded musicians that can play any style of music. I will teach you a solid foundational technique, including advanced shifting techniques and simple but beautiful vibrato, that will allow you to play any style of music you would like. I teach all of my students how to improvise in a clear, systematic way, and provide a safe and fun environment to practice being musically creative. You will learn how to "sound" like a fiddler AND a classical violist.

I'm Suzuki Method certified and use a unique blend of method books including the O'Connor Method and a fiddle tableture system I have created. American fiddle, celtic, gypsy, jazz and Mexican waltz's are some of the muscial styles that you will enjoy while learning a solid foundational technique. I approach the viola with the same integrity of sound that I approach violin technique. In order to build your playing from the ground up, I seek to give students the strongest technical foundation possible so that they can achieve all their musical aspirations.

I am a string specialist. That means I teach and play violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, ukulele and piano. I earned B.A. earned from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley Colorado where I was a double major in classical guitar and double bass. In my senior year I was the recipient of the Annual Concerto Contest where I performed the "Concerto in A Major" on double bass with the University orchestra for the spring concert. I have played in both professional and semi-professional orchestras in Colorado and Arizona. I believe that any student will practice more if he or she likes the music they are playing. Periodically I will ask a student to give me a name of a piece of music that they would like to learn how to play. I notate it for them, often simplifying the rhythm and chords in Finale NotePad and give it to them free of charge. I teach students how to play music on their given instrument.
