I can teach beginners up to intermediate, and can teach most styles, except for slap bass.
Hello fellow and future musicians, and thanks for checking out my profile!
To tell you a little about myself, I was exposed to music at a very young age since my dad was a musician. I first picked up the drums at the age of 5, and took piano lessons for a year when I was 6. I later played the saxophone in 4th grade, and finally discovered the guitar when I was 9. (Ironic since my dad is a guitarist and the guitar was around the house forever!) He showed me my first chords and really got me started on the instrument, and I played in several local bands in high school playing a range of musical styles from rock, blues, funk, and reggae. I really didn't take music seriously until I was in college, and began studying under Jerry Coelho, a member of the very first graduating class of the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA, and
Dominic Castillo, a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, who was a student of Jerry's as well. After studying under these talented musicians, I went on to pursue my education in music and received my BA in Music from San Jose State University in 2004. I started teaching music privately during my time with Jerry and Dominic and continued to teach during college up until the present, and have taught hundreds of students since. I now live in San Diego where I teach, work as a freelance musician, and play in local funk/jazz/rock group Science Fiction Jazz and gypsy/kickstomp outfit Quel Bordel!
*** Lesson Details *** I am a very easy going, friendly individual who believes that learning music is built upon a strong relationship between teacher and student. This relationship involves good communication, honesty, open mindedness, and most importantly the desire to LEARN and have FUN. I approach teaching music by knowing and understanding the student's musical goals, and teaching fundamentals, theory, and technique through the style(s) of music that the student wants to learn. For beginners, I tend to teach basic techniques and chords through simple songs to get the student playing music as quickly as possible.
*** Studio Equipment *** Living Room: couches, table and TV, music stand, student can borrow instrument for first lesson, parents can sit in on lesson
*** Specialties *** My main musical styles that I perform and teach are rock, blues, jazz, funk, R&B, and reggae. I studied jazz in college so I also have extensive knowledge of jazz theory.
Worked really well with my 10 yr old, super happy about our decision.

Aaron has been teaching my 13 yr old daughter for a few weeks now and it's going great. He's teaching her songs she wants to learn and great tips to create her own songs. I would recommend him to teach anyone.
We're gonna play some grooves and HAVE FUN! I'm a professional musician and have been a performing bassist for over 20 years, and I hope to pass along some of my knowledge and expertise to you. I customize your lessons to your needs and what you want to do with your ability to play bass. I can prepare you for any genre as I include fundamentals (for example, scales and arpeggios) in your practice. I use these books for reference and/or lesson work: - Hal Leonard's Bass Method-Books 1, 2 & 3 (Ed Friedland) - Mel Bay's Deluxe Jazz & Rock Bass Method (Vincent Bredice) I can help you learn how to play with a pick, how to "slap & pluck," how to sing and play simultaneously, and even how to sightread.

I balance learning and technical skill with fun and self-expression.
*** Studio Equipment *** I have a dedicated music room, stocked with guitars, basses, and practice amp, keyboard and co
mputers with recording software.
*** Travel Equipment *** Keyboard, practice amp, and/or instrument cords. I expect the student to provide his/her own instrument, and prefer they have an amplifier for electric instruments.

I just finished a series of online upright bass lessons with Dr. Norman. It's wonderful to have a lesson without toting the bass around town. Dr. Norman is impressive in skill and knowledge. There was nothing musically he didn't know, couldn't explain, or demonstrate on the bass. He has a keyboard at hand to play chords or emphasize a particular key, and he is proficient on that too. Dr. Norman is A++.

TakeLessons.com Instructor since 2012, Kyle K. is now available for online lessons worldwide featuring a screen sharing experience like no other for personal and detailed instruction!
Kyle has been playing guitar for over 25 years, written hundreds of songs and is currently a professional composer and sound designer for television and Hollywood movie trailers. Credits include all major networks and shows like American Idol, NFL games and movies like Jurassic Park and Independence Day. He has developed his own method of teaching to positively build on the student's strengths, dexterity, ear-training, natural technique, memorization and creativity.
The goal is to always design lessons around you as an individual to help you reach your goals as an artist and musician. Whether it's guitar, bass, songwriting or production this metho
d is used to maximize results!
A word from Kyle K: "I love music! To me, it's a way of life. From listening to playing to writing and of course teaching. I grew up with music all around me at school and home. My dad was a piano player and teacher so music has been a part of my life since day one and I want to share what I have learned. Everyone has a unique musical talent and I enjoy helping them find it. I believe that anyone can be an excellent musician. Playing an instrument should be a fun and creative adventure. Whether it's strumming at home, playing out in the clubs, or writing the next big hit, I will do my best to get you there!
My musical life began when I was in 5th grade and my dad bought me a saxophone, which I played for over 12 years. I quickly learned how fast I could improve if I simply kept playing with focus. When I hit my teen years I fell in love with rock music and mowed enough lawns to buy my first guitar. I jammed and wrote songs with many other musicians and several bands over the years. We played countless shows and released a few albums. Now I write and produce music and sound design daily for TV, Film and Trailers for companies like Disney, Universal, MTV, NFL and many more.
I started teaching 11 years ago and found that it is one of my favorite things to do. Helping others grow into great musicians is rewarding and fun. I've learned that from grade school to retirement, each student is a unique and special individual. My lessons reflect that fact so that we can reach all your goals together. *My personal goal is to get my students to understand and write music that will stay with them and encourage them to continue."
All lessons take place in a fully operational Digital Recording Studio and dedicated lesson room. Gaining real world playing experience with current technology is a definite advantage over traditional lessons. This also allows the student to capture ideas when songwriting and provides a unique playing experience. Imagine looking back years down the line, listening to something you wrote and hearing the improvements and your own personal music history. That's what writing and recording as you learn is all about.
*** Lesson Details *** Everyone is different, and every lesson should be suited to fit the individual. Depending on the type of lessons (guitar, bass, music production, theory, etc.) the style teaching will be adjusted to fit. It's all about YOUR goals and needs.
Each student is going to receive lessons based on their preferences of genre and style of music they desire to play. I expect my students to practice regularly and have a good time as their abilities and knowledge grow. By working together, we can focus on goals and problem solving to get you to the next level of play. Most importantly, we are going to have a blast while we learn to play music!
*We'll start slow and build your knowledge base with each lesson. *You can expect to understand what you are playing AND be able to write your own music is desired. *You will be given everything you'll need to succeed including custom made drums and songs to play with so you can improve at home.
Let's start learning and improving today!

Kyle K has a unique teaching style. His Ableton Live knowledge has no bounds. In just five lessons he talked me through most of my usual brain-fog to help me understand, in the simplest terms, how to use Live to record music and use Midi to enhance your work. Super, Super man, Kyle is. I highly recommend Kyle if you need a teacher. John G.

Kyle employs an interactive teaching style that a total beginner like me needs to begin to understand how Ableton works.

Her compositions have been performed in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Florida. A commissioned composer, her Dualities for Clarinet, Brass Ensemble, Electronics and Percussion; Fantasia pour Cor; Feline Romp for solo clarinet; are works performed in the classical idiom. Plains of Lhasa and Tearing were composed in the electro-acoustic medium. She is a member of ASCAP, TMEA, TODA, ASTA, and self publishes. She has performed internationally and in addition to her professional schedule, taught music technology related courses and music theory at Collin College, Spring Creek Campus as well as applied cello studies at Brazosport College. In 2017, Theresa relocated her private teaching studio to Honolulu. She retired as the Head Music Director of the orchestra program at Brazosport High School and its feeder school system in 2017.
Theresa is most excellent. There's no question that she knows music and is an accomplished musician, but the real trick is being able to share that talent with a saugsage-fingered doob such as myself. And make it seem a reasonable proposition, something you could do. She has an innate style of instruction that is at once comforting and challenging, setting the bar ever higher while giving enough encouragement that you want to do better. My highest recommendation.

Amazing amazing amazing. I learned so much and had fun at the same time. Theresa has a great and friendly personality, it's such a joy working with her. If you want to learn Cello, I highly recommend her.

Just had my first lesson with Billy and it was fantastic! He created the perfect balance of learning something enjoyable that I would be excited to go home and practice along with things that I had skipped over and knew I needed to re-visit in order to improve. I was impressed with his ability to quickly gauge my skill level and prior music knowledge so it didn’t feel mundane but challenged me just the perfect amount. Excited for our next lesson already!

I’m not usually one to write reviews but Jeff is such a great teacher. He really helped to develop my playing to where now I consider myself a confident bassist. His style of teaching not only helped me to be a better bassist, but also helped me internalize musical concepts that will help me for the rest of my life. I strongly recommend Jeff if you are looking for someone to really take you to the next level!

Jeff is a great teacher. Jeff made the lessons super fun and meaningful for my son. He has a unique way of teaching that really helps anyone in any level understand. I highly recommend Jeff!
I have been playing, teaching, and recording bass guitar for about 12 years now. I started out teaching jazz bass...and now play all forms of music with it.
I absolutely love teaching music! After over 20 years of teaching, performing, writing, and recording in all styles/genres, it continues to be a great adventure. It is a joy to pass this on to others...especially seeing my students that never touched the instrument going on to be very proficient players.
I take teaching seriously, but definitely try to make it enjoyable for the student. I studied classical guitar in college, but was playing everything from Van Halen to Jazz to Country & Blues before that. Currently, I'd consider myself a flat out musical mutt...enjoying anything and everything. The love of guitar has also expanded to a multitude of instruments that I record, gig, & teach with.
"My grandson really enjoyed his first lesson with Nick."
"Matt is super talented at bass and a great teacher! Love learning from him."
"I’m a drummer, and my experience with Greg is playing worship together. He’s one of the best bassists I’ve ever played with. He’s got a fantastic ear an
d great musical knowledge. I would definitely recommend taking lessons from him if you’re looking to pick up a new instrument or are wanting to improve on what you already know."
"Lots of info she gives in detail....very awesome...."
"John is very friendly. The first lesson with him, he makes me feel so comfortable, and most importantly, confident that I can achieve my goal. Thanks Jo
"Has a lot of experience and knowledge, and puts in the effort to show it."
"Great instructor ! He knows to shift focus towards what you need to work on. As soon as the instructions are given or the questions he asks you feel relie
f because the energy is going towards what you already feel you need to work on and not just moving on to the next lesson. The tailored lessons make for a low pressure learning environment to fit your needs. As long as your consistant with receiving his lessons you will get where you want to be with your talents and be jammin out soon."
"Very patient and knowledgeable. I had never taken formal lessons before and didn't know what to expect, but he made me feel comfortable with my level of k
nowledge and quickly picked up on where I could use the most help."
Dreaming of playing the bass? This list of the best bass guitar songs is sure to inspire you.
A bass player can hold a band together and it is often the most distinctive sound you hear in any song. It is a known fact that the bassist is always the “coolest” guy in the band. So when things get rough within a band, it's the bassist that keeps his cool and keeps the band going.
And the best part about being a bass player is you will ALWAYS have a gig!
So to all the seasoned bass players ou …
