About Farobag
Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.

Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.

Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.

Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.

*** Lesson Details ***
Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !

Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.

A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.

*** Travel Equipment ***
None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.

*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.

I've been playing a few instruments for 23 years, and finally decided to get into violin. Farobag made me realize that I know next to nothing about the violin, and there is so much to learn. I played only a few notes in my first lesson, but his instruction was worth every penny. I am very excited for the next lesson and look forward to learning everything I can from Farobag. Highly recommended.

Mr. Cooper is an experienced teacher. He teaches piano, violin & vocal from basic to advance level. My son has been taking piano classes from him for the past 3+ years. He loves to go to Mr. Cooper's classes. The foremost quality in Mr. Cooper is that he seeks perfection and tries to imbibe the same in his students. He encourages all his students to perform their best and is extremely patient in dealing with his students. Mr. Cooper lets me sit in my son's lessons and I got my 101 on classical music with these sessons. I can appreciate what my son plays and also now able to appreciate classical music in general.
Mr. Cooper encourages all his students to participate in IMA annual contests and puts a lot of effort in preparing his students for the same.

About Francisca
I am a very passionate and dedicated instructor. I love working with students at all levels from ages 9 and up, from beginners to experienced adults. It doesn't matter where you are in your musical development, I can help and encourage you to be your very best. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Sydney Australia with (High Class Honors) and Majored in Music Performance and Sub Majors in Composition and Theatre. I have had the opportunity to perform in the USA at various venues and overseas in Australia at the Sydney Opera House to name a few.

My teaching experience dates back to my University days. I was in my first year of my music degree when I applied for my first teaching position at a music school in Australia. I taught there throughout the Four years of my Bachelor's Degree and remained teaching
there after that. I also started teaching at another well respected music school and remained there until the end of 2010. During this time I was very fortunate to have a large database of students who were with me from the beginning of my teaching career up until I left both schools. The only reason I left was as I am also a performer; I was offered an opportunity to perform overseas and i took it. It was a very exciting part of my life as a performer and has helped me grow as an artist and teacher immensely.

In 2012, I relocated to Miami and have been teaching from my private home studio while I continue working on my music career. As a musician and educator, I am very passionate about my teaching and like to bring the best out in my students. Every lesson is tailored specifically to your individual learning needs. I will teach you a vocal technique based on the Seth Riggs Teaching method with my own methods implemented, performance skills, repertoire selection, and audition preparation amongst other skills. It doesn't matter what your desired goal is, I can help you achieve it. The most important part of it all is that you have fun!!

And for piano I like to teach through a series of books depending on your learning levels. We can start at book one, with scales from the book A Dozen a Day, or we can take the the more traditional route of scales, or learn popular songs. This decision can be made by you and I when we meet at our first lesson and discuss what your goals are as a musician.

*** Lesson Details ***
Every lesson is tailored to your individual learning levels. I normally asses this in the first lesson. Lets start with the Singers.

Most singers are looking for help with contemporary popular music so using specific texts are void here. I will teach you a method of singing technique based on the Seth Riggs singing method, implemented with a technique called "Emotion Centered Singing" which will help you understand music beyond melody and composition but also through text and individual interpretation through story telling customed to your needs. I also teach Musical Theatre Singing, pop, rock, jazz, so if these are routes you would like to take, I can help you on your way there. I will help you choose repertoire for auditions, performances, we will work on performance and audition technique and many more fun things!!!

For the Pianists. This also depends on what you want to get out of your lessons. Do you want to learn pop songs? arrangements? Or do you want to learn classical pieces? I ask you all these questions and more at our first lesson to make sure you and I are both happy with the direction we will take. I use either Scale Books or The Dozen a Day Series or the ABRSM Piano series, Alfred's Adult Piano book and many more. Once again the important factor here is Fun based learning!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide a full size digital weighted piano for all Lessons, it has various different sounds and a great grand piano sound for piano students. Printer for any homework given, and stationery

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide some books for learning and make copies accordingly. The student should have a working piano/keyboard in the home. If i request they purchase a book for their learning development, they are required to purchase it.

*** Specialties ***
For Singing- I teach a method called Speech Level Singing. Similar to the Seth Riggs Speech level singing as well as a technique called Emotion centered singing which deals with connecting with the song and feeling the connection through the core. This is useful for performance and interpretation. I specialize in teaching, Pop, RnB, Musical Theatre, Rock and Folk

For Piano, I use a variety a books. I particularly like the Alfred's series as well as the Bastien Series. I also like to encourage other learning materials for holidays which is lots of fun!! This depends on the students learning level. I asses learning levels in the first lesson and plan lessons accordingly after that in order to have the student progress each week. I teach classical piano and contemporary, pop

I have extraordinary passion for teaching and an extraordinary ear for sound. I enjoy working with singers who want a career in music or simply want to sing for pure enjoyment.

About Patrick
Hi there, my name is Patrick, and I am now a new resident of the Asheville area. I am a music teacher of Trumpet, Piano, Voice and Sound Recording with more than 20 plus years of experience. Below, I relate some of my experiences and philosophies as a teacher of music since 2002.

*** Lesson Details ***
Trumpet Lessons
I have worked with adults and children, with beginners, and with more experienced players looking for a push or a new direction. I have developed many different teaching methods based on what each of my students wants to get out of lessons. The heart of most lessons I teach is learning to play or understand songs. Usually, I rely on my students to select the songs they wish to study, which I then transcribe to make personal arrangements fitted to their abilities. Of course, I will suggest or recommend songs at times.
I also supply relevant exercises and music theory to accelerate the learning process.

Piano Lessons
I differentiate between concepts and skills, while stressing the importance of mastering both. As important as it is to understand the intervalic relationships in something like the major scale, this knowledge does little for the pianist if she or he cannot pick out the notes to the different scales in real time. In observing that each person demonstrates unique learning patterns and abilities, I have learned that some people will come to understand the conceptual through mastery of memorized tasks while some will succeed with technical mastery only after achieving some conceptual understanding.
Voice Lessons
Having first begun singing at 22 years old, I know first hand that it’s never to late to start singing. Having some experience in school but not fully as a professional till in my 20′s, I have learned from some of the top professionals in the South Florida area. My first vocal lessons was with Gloria Estefan’s back up singer Jon Secada. Jon has his first hit “Just Another Day” that stayed at #1 for several weeks. His one lesson really helped me use singing in my gigging around town. From that time on, I have used this technique for all my students. focusing on JUST BREATHING, has helped many of my students.

Teaching Sound Recording
Working in the early 1980s with recorded music and computers, I was introduced to the new wave of recording at its birth. At Miami Dade Community College, I taught and assisted students in Composition, Sound Development, and Sound Recording using Mac computers and PC’s. As of this day, I personally teach recording in Logic Pro, Bias Peak and Mastering using Waves plug ins and having finished products in Mp4 format and or CD’s.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Mac with logic pro software instruments, piano seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
expect students to provide paper and pencil and put in practice time on their respected instruments at least 30 min a week

I generally focus voice lessons around classical vocal technique, which will develop good habits regarding... breathing... posture... body/facial tension...and overall good vocal health. I am a firm believer in the idea that classical vocal techniques are carried over into any genre. In addition to classical repertoire I have experience working with musical theater, pop, jazz, soul, and country.

About Chelsea
Lesson Details:
As a teacher, I've had experience teaching both young children and adults in many settings, whether it be in a classroom, small group lesson, or one-on one. I pride myself on providing lessons that are uniquely individual and foster a students strengths while also building on their weaknesses. The best part about being a music educator is that I get to share my love of music with all of my students. With that said, whether you are a beginner who's interest has been sparked, or you have aspirations of becoming a professional musician I can help you there!

Lessons are catered to each individual student and are conducted in a supportive environment where students are encouraged to take risks, try new things, make mistakes, and most importantly be themselves.

I value the time I have with my students and expect each st
udent to come prepared to each lesson with an open mind and willingness to work. With music, the best results only come to those who put in 100% both during lessons and during individual practice time. This is key in any musical pursuit. Overall, I want lessons to be enjoyable while still maintaining a sense of progress for the student.

About Chelsea:
Soprano, Chelsea B. made her operatic debut in 2005 in Italy with Operafestival di Roma in their main stage production of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. While in Rome Chelsea B. also was featured in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. Chelsea has been teaching my 14 year old grandson now for over 2 years. She is actually "gets him" where many teachers don't and she manages to bring the absolutely best out in him. She clearly loves her work and it shows so much so that after many years of playing the piano, more off than on recently, I decided to take lessons with her too. I could not be more pleased with the outcome.

Chelsea is not only a phenomenal voice teacher, she is a phenomenal person! Chelsea gave lessons to my daughter for many years and was just as focused with her improving her skills (which she did and even led my daughter getting a vocal scholarship!) as she was on my daughter's overall balance and well-being. We love Chelsea!!

Under Chelsea's guidance, my daughter was accepted into a county honors chorus and accepted subsequently into her advanced high school ensembles. Chelsea understands the busy lives of middle & high school students and is very flexible with scheduling. This summer, she has already started working with my daughter on choral pieces for the upcoming school year. I recommend her highly and we look forward to working with her in the years to come.

I am easy-going, but I expect you to practice. I am thorough in my approach. For piano lessons, I utilize the Alfred method. I emphasize note reading and theory in each genre, whether taking guitar, voice or piano. I am currently using Hal Leonard's Guitar Method books for guitar and a few different things for vocal curriculum. All lessons can be supplemented with what you are currently interested in or working towards. I enjoy helping prepare young people for their performances in theatre arts. Lessons can be combined, for example; if you are interested in both voice and
guitar, you can take a longer weekly lesson and have both subjects covered! Weekly assignments are given and checked to see if done before proceeding to the next step! I do not recommend students come every other week. I recommend one lesson per week.

I began voice lessons at the age of 5. I have performed on stage and won various awards throughout the years. However, my great love is in teaching, being "behind the scenes" and helping others reach their potential. With more than 19 years of experience, combined with amazing teachers, I have accumulated an array of knowledge about the voice. I can also teach you how to accompany yourself with your chosen instrument. The truth is, anyone can sing! The breath is what holds the key to unlocking the amazing potential of your voice, and with practice, you can allow the voice to express your own unique individuality. All voices are different and beautiful, and it is the job of a voice teacher to help you reveal to you your own voice through proper technique, getting in touch with your body, and with "allowing" your voice to shine. There is a special voice/breath technique that was shown to me by one of my teachers, Martha Howe, an international opera singer and professor. She showed me ...

About Amanda
Hello everyone! My name is Amanda O., and I am a Harpist, Voice teacher, Therapeutic Musician, Life Coach, Alternative Medicine Practitioner, and Vocalist who has over 21 years of experience as a classical vocalist and performer. By 8 years old, I began training as an opera singer and have merged my love of classical vocals with the therapeutic harp. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Diego State University, with my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and am currently in my graduate program at Chaminade University of Honolulu studying to obtain my Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology. I graduated from the International Harp Therapy Program as a Certified Therapeutic Harp Practitioner and have completed an internship at Apreva Hospice. I have experience playing therapeutic harp music at over 30 different facilities around San Diego, such
as Narzerath House, Bay View, Bella Vista, Monte Vista Village, and La Mesa Health Care Center, as well as making In-Home visits. These include independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care facilities around SD! I also have experience playing for the actively dying for hospice and consider it an honor to be of musical assistance for people in transition.

I love to teach and can make my harp and voice lessons unique to each individual based on their current skill level. I love watching people expand and grow through music. Your lessons will be engaging, compassionate, fun, and organized! Each lesson will encourage you to become excited about your musical growth and inspire you to continue. I offer something unusual for a harp teacher in that I can teach both improvisation and music theory for the harp. This means that you will get the best of both worlds!

I also have obtained education from the Self-Heal School of Herbal Studies here in San Diego, where I have learned about herbal medicine. I am well versed in many alternative therapies (such as E.F.T., meditation, therapeutic music, Ayurvedic medicine, amino acid therapy, etc.) and can provide compassion, understanding, and strategies for alleviating suffering as a Life Coach. My education towards my Master's degree in Psychology also helps me increase my understanding of the human condition and offer additional support for anxiety, depression, addiction, and other stresses. I believe that everyone deserves to live a life of freedom, safety, comfort, and relaxation. I hope to provide loving assistance for anyone seeking someone who cares and will put in the time to truly listen and offer advice.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please let me know how I can be of service to you!

Though most of my experience has been in jazz, musical theater, Gospel, pop, and classical singing, I have helped hundreds of students of all other styles, ages, beginners to professionals, to gain greater freedom of vocal expression, by adapting my simple 8 part individualized method to any style they choose. Having studied and performed extensively in the USA and Europe as a classical, jazz, musical theater, Gospel, and pop singer/flutist, I specialize in a therapeutic approach to singing that is nurturing and safe for shy students to blossom, healing to damaged voices, as well as stimulating to the the creativity of seasoned performers. Emphasizing the value of personalizing the text, my students have often been able to develop their own unique singing style more quickly than with other teachers. There are few more rewarding experiences than contributing to someone's JOY of SINGING!

About Abby
Due to my maternal grandfather's work as a Chicago vaudeville orchestra leader, from early childhood, the performing arts have been in my blood. Starting to study classical flute at age 12, then playing in the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras and taking professional jazz/classical flute workshops/master classes, I've been teaching and playing all styles of music professionally since my 20's.

Vocal study began at age 15 with some great artists/educators in SF, Seattle, and Europe, including Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy, Adrian West from NYC Broadway, David Tigner- SF Opera, Davida Kagan-Seattle Opera, and Roland Wyatt-
Manhattan Transfer coach /NY Academy of Dramatic Arts. Through many teaching years, I've developed a very successful, uniquely simple 8 part method to help cross cultural individuals and groups sing optimally from thei
r hearts. For all levels from beginners to professional. the necessary basic vocal techniques can be taught effectively in 4 to 8 lessons, though the process of becoming a successful artist continues during one's lifetime.

With a BA in Theater Arts from SFSU, and over 50 years directing, acting, and musical experience, including 15 years working successfully as an ESL educator, my experience has allowed me to help any student achieve their personal and/or professional goals.

"Study music while experiencing lessons to an enjoyable and relaxed approach!" This has been my goal and approach for students from young children to professional musicians in college. Whether piano, voice, or organ let's see how you learn best and make this a positive experience for you!

About Joseph
I am a music educator and performer that loves working with individuals from the young child to professionals. I taught public school for 12 years and then at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY for the last 14. My degrees are from Western Michigan University (Bachelor of Music), Indiana University (Masters in Secondary Education) and Ball State University (Doctorate of Arts). During my teaching career, I also gave private lessons outside of the school and the college. When I left NY, I had 35 students of which 6 remain with me online. Having now relocated to Oahu, Hawaii I am looking to add private students. I love teaching and believe in creating an atmosphere where the students, regardless of age, feel successful in their endeavors.

WHAT DO I DO?
Currently, I am the Coordinator for Therapeutic Music & Volunteer Coordinator at
Hospice Hawaii and the Director of Music at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Honolulu.

WHAT DO I TEACH?
I teach piano, organ, and voice.
*Piano: All levels from beginning to professional
*Organ: All levels from beginning to professional
*Voice: Beginning and those working with music theater

WHERE DO I TEACH?
*Piano: In Mililani, St Peter’s Episcopal, and online
*Organ: St. Peter’s Episcopal and possibly online
*Voice: St. Peter’s Episcopal
NOTE: Parents are welcomed to attend the lessons!
In fact, I encourage that!!

WHAT IS MY STYLE OF TEACHING?
Every student is different and what works for one may not work with another. It's important for me to know my students so I can better shape the lesson. I love questions, reflection, and even humor. I'm also very patient and understanding. We are all very busy and accept that students may have weeks they can't practice a huge amount of time. As long as some progress is made at lessons, all is well!

AER THERE RECITALS? ... Absolutely. You work hard at your lessons and it’s great to show your talent! Recitals will be at St. Peter’s Episcopal. I’m going to have a recital for my online students soon to see how that goes.

Every singer should know how their instrument works. I will teach you how your voice works and how to sing in a healthy way. Feel good, sound good!

Also, singing isn't magic, and the world isn't divided into people who can sing and people who can't. Singing is a skill that anyone can improve, and I can teach you tools and habits that will help you get better.

I studied voice and voice teaching + anatomy at the University of Washington and I've been teaching voice for over two years. Let me help you sing better every day!

About Aryn
Music makes me happy and teaching makes me happy. As a teacher I am focused and energetic. Even though voice lessons are to performing as the gym is to the playing field, I find them fun and I hope you will too.

I have a bachelor's degree in voice from the University of Washington. I studied the art and science of voice, from anatomy to phonetics to technique to emotional connection with the music. This means that I can help address many different needs and questions for each unique singer.

I've taught students of all experience levels and all ages, from 7 to 83. I would love for you to be my next student!
