Derek D.

Murrieta, CA

I am currently a High School Spanish teacher. I have taught Spanish 1 all the way to Spanish for Spanish speakers which I am currently teaching. I believe in speaking and listening. The more you listen and then speak what you have heard the easier the language becomes. I have 15 years experience teaching this subject and another 8 years of translation. I speak both English and Spanish fluently so I can really help my students with little tricks with concern to idiomatic expressions and such. I also understand the differences between the two languages which cognitively helps the students. I focus on basic conversation as well as all verb conjugations and tenses. I also teach grammar and writing skills. Basically anything that the student needs I can and have taught.

About Derek

I have been teaching high school Spanish since 2000. I translated for the DEA and FBI and lived in Mexico for 2 years where I became a fluent Spanish speaker. I have a genuine love of the culture, the people and the language.
I have been playing soccer my whole life and have coached for 12 years at all levels including Varsity High School and youth levels. I am currently coaching a team at Temecula FC and have a coaching license. I have two young kids of my own that play soccer and am the owner Elite Premier Soccer League where I also play.
I have a Bachelor's Degree from San Diego State U
niversity in Spanish and Latin American History and a Master's of Arts in Education Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in English as a second language.

Sergio D.

Riverside, CA

I have been teaching Spanish as a private tutor for 5 years. I love teaching this language and get great joy when I see my students really learn, by applying it to their own personal life. They will be able to use it to obtain a bilingual job, make new friends with Spanish speakers, take what they have learned and use it to visit many beautiful Latin countries, communicate better with family members that only speak Spanish, etc. etc. Tengo fe que vas a aprender mucho!

About Sergio

I have been teaching since 2007. I began my career in the beautiful city of Chicago. I graduated with a degree in communications/speech. I am able to teach a variety of subjects comfortably and have always been passionate about teaching! It gives me great joy to see my students learn, whether young or old.
I am always ready and eager to tutor students privately. I love to do this with a patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic demeanor! My strengths are Spanish, Math, Writing, Reading, and other subjects listed in my profile. I grew up with two Spanish speaking parents in a diverse nei
ghborhood. Looking forward to helping you reach your academic/personal goals!

Sergio is very thorough and professional. He showed up on time to tutor our kids in our home. He got my son to read when he really did not want to. I would definetely recommend Sergio for tutoring any subject.

My son (2nd grade) was struggling with his "mad minute" math tests. Sergio helped motivate my son in studying for his tests. Thank you Sergio you made a big difference.
