"Erika: Thank you does not even sound adequate for what you have done for me. Having gone through many therapists who only ask questions and offer no solu
tions on why I was so unhappy, why I was stuck in victim, why I had cancer, why I allowed others to abuse me...the list could go on and on...The self sabotaging was crippling me...and I realize I was doing it to myself due to old thoughts and beliefs since childhood that I thought was real. When you change your mind and your focus, you literally change your physical body and you can move forward, not stuck in a perpetual downward spiral, as I was. When I met you I wanted to end my life as there was no hope, at least, from the therapy I had received, there was no answer, and therefore no peace, only anxiety and self loathing. When you speak to me or to others, your voice is that of an angel. Thank you for devoting your life to educating others and therefore allowing them to realize they have the power to heal themselves in all areas of their life. What a blessing you are! I love you! Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principa
l conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.
A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.
Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.
Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.
Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.
*** Lesson Details *** Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.
*** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment *** None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.
*** Specialties *** Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.
*** CD's*** Classical Energy, Triton Sound, TS 8501 Salut D'Amour, Triton Sound, TS 9014 Epiphanies1, The Halford Company

Originally born in Germany, Chrissy developed a passion for music, language and teaching early on. Right out of High School she helped her mother, who was an educator at that time, write and stage-man
age a children's Musical which found great response from the audience. During her Music studies in the Netherlands she was offered an internship at the local Music School which she gratefully accepted and where she enjoyed her first voice coaching experience. There she was also nominated as one of the most promising young singer/songwriters at the LUX Festival in Nijmegen. Over the years she was blessed with more and more private students in voice as well as piano. During her stay in New York she received the opportunity to work with a Broadway show ensemble ("Dreamgirls") as a Music Director on their different harmonic parts. She's proudly been a member of the Music of Oz Studio staff in Crown Point, Indiana since Jan. 2011 and is looking forward to teaching out of her home now as well. Chrissy is crazy about all her students and wants them to succeed! She's very much looking forward to working with you and having buckets of fun! :-)

Shannon was introduced to Pilates through professional dance. She performed with Bodiography Contemporary Ballet from 2002 to 2007. Here the company encouraged dancers to study Pilates to enhance th
eir performance. Around this time, she was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis and found that Pilates relieved some of the symptoms. This encouraged her to further her training. In 2004 she was certified in mat through PHI Pilates (formerly PowerHouse Pilates). In 2007 Shannon moved to Chicago to apprentice with a number of dance companies including River North Chicago Dance, Giordano Dance Chicago, and Cerqua-Rivera Dance Theater. In 2009 she joined Inaside Chicago Dance. It was here where she learned about the Body Arts and Science International training program at Flow Studios. Shannon was fortunate to be a finalist for BASI’s Kathy Grant Memorial Scholarship where she personally interviewed with BASI founder, Rael Isacowitz. Upon retiring from concert dance after 11 seasons, Shannon joined BASI’s CTTC program in 2013 and graduated in 2014. She has completed multiple workshops for continuing education in TRX, CoreAlign I & II, Trigger Point Foam Rolling, Jumpboard Dynamics, and rotator cuff & osteoporosis workshops with the inspirational Karen Clippinger. In 2015 Shannon attended a 3 day intensive with Esther Gokhale in the Gokhale Method. She recently became a corrective exercise specialist in the BioMechanics Method, 1 of only 6 in Chicagoland area. She also completed training in Yamuna Body Rolling and the American Ballet Theater National Training Curriculum Pre-Primary through Level 3. Shannon has a passion for continuing education and sharing her knowledge. These modalities have allowed her improve her own posture & to completely eliminate her 10+ years of SI joint pain. She understands the value in treating the body from a holistic point of view. In addition to teaching Pilates, Shannon has taught dance for over 15 years and is the director of both the Hinsdale Ballet Theater Junior Company and the Jazz/Contemporary department at Hinsdale Dance Academy.

My weekly sessions with Shannon over the past year+ have taken my body, mind, and Pilates practice of 6 years to a new level. Her serious commitment to getting the positions "right,"--posture and balance--is impressive. My body is not only stronger, fitter, but also more relaxed. She is serious about her job and focussed on her students' improvement, but is also kind and has a sense of humor. I am very fortunate I met Shannon when I moved to Chicago.

We are so used to viewing life from a right-side-up perspective, where we soak in the world around us by way of our sensory organs (eyes, ears, nose, and mouth). We process everything upstairs, allowing it all to accumulate to form our point of view, which in turn fuels our decisions, reactions, and movements down to our toes. Rather than taking the ti …
