Jason M.

San Diego, CA

About Jason

TakeLessons.com Instructor since 2005, Jason M. is now available for online lessons worldwide featuring multiple-camera angles and a share screen experience leaving no stone un-turned!

Jason has been playing guitar for over 15 years and teaching music since 1996. Although trained in standard teaching methods, he has developed his own method of teaching to positively enhance the student€™s strength, dexterity, ear-training, memorization and techniques. His goal as a teacher is specifically designed to help you achieve your goals as an artist and a musician.

This year Jason was also the M
usic Director at the National Guitar Workshop Day Jams Rock Music Day Camp where students ages 7-15 came out to form bands, record original material and master their craft. He also taught beginning to advanced guitar/ vocals/ performance and songwriting as hosted a recording clinic at the end of each day.

Jason has host student showcases/charity benefits where his students were able to get on stage and show off their new talent and perform with other musicians. It wasn't mandatory though, if you were just looking to come out and support there was no pressure other than to come out and have fun.

Jason has been transcribing for guitar and bass since the age of 18 and since then has become a master of the craft including both 5 line staff and tablature, hand-crafted exercises and deconstructions to better enhance the students learning. Artists and genres that Jason has experience with range from Classic Rock, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Robert Johnson, Pierce the Veil, Paramore, All Time Low, Demi Lava to, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, The White Stripes, Green Day, Old Crow Medicine Show, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons, Bruno Mars, Rob Zombie, John 5, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Van Morrison, the Beatles, AC/DC, ZZ-Top, Bullet For My Valentine, All That Remains, Ozzy, Black Label Society, Sublime, Aerosmith, At the Drive In, Type O Negative, the Black Keys, the Pixies, the Toadies, Black Sabbath, Jason Mraz, Lady GaGa, John Mayer and Journey.

Jason attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage where his degree is in Music and Business. He is constantly continuing his education with music theory courses as well as private guitar instruction. He attends guitar workshops and seminars by artists such as John5 and Kerry King who are known as some of the worlds finest guitar players. He reviews every day from a wide range of over 1000 sources working to become a better musician and instructor.

Another nice feature that you might enjoy from one on one sessions with Jason is learning the ability to craft and record your own songs using state of the art technology that caters to your own unique personality. There are no limits!

Jason teaches all experience levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced as well as artists that are signed to labels.

Local news outlet Fox 5 did a segment with one of his students who overcame issues with ADD and depression as a result of taking guitar lessons.

His students advance quickly, some have released albums, been in Guitar World Magazine as well as its online companion and won awards for their music websites.

About Amanda

Hello!! I am a certified yoga teacher who loves to teach what she practices. I have been seriously practicing yoga since June of 2013 and I have learned most of what I know through practicing on my own.

I teach lessons based on the Sivananda style of yoga which is based on yoga as a whole lifestyle, focusing on proper exercise, relaxation, proper diet and meditation to guide you in leading a happy healthy life.

I love teaching yoga one on one and especially love helping beginners find out how yoga can really enhance their life. If you're stressed, anxious, need to get your zest for li
fe back or just looking for an easy way to exercise and relax give yoga a try!

I look forward to teaching you how to exercise both your body and mind.

Amanda is a great teacher who is obviously passionate about what she does. She is very easy going and gentle with beginners, such as myself, but definitely offered challenges for the more experienced yogis in our class. I really appreciate that she notices any and all small improvements I've made from class to class and is never shy about celebrating those successes with all of her students. I definitely recommend her as a teacher.

Matt S.

Oceanside, CA

About Matt

Please copy and paste this link to check out my YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQDiOf3WMT9wBlprkMVJd1Q

With most of my music students, we focus on several key areas to ensure success of overall technique and knowledge: WARM-UPs, SCALES, MUSIC THEORY, SIGHT-READING, and PREPARED SONGS. I tailor my approach and style to each student. Although I'm very detail-oriented with lessons and followup, I'm constantly in search of finding FUN ways to make sure the student is enjoying the journey. I also prefer to work on a song that the STUDENT wants to learn. It's music, and it s
hould be fun!

Please review the rest of my profile and send me any questions or concerns you may have. If I don't think I can be the best teacher for you, I will gladly refer you to someone else on Takelessons or elsewhere.

I've been a lifelong musician, and love finding unique and fun ways to motivate my students. I've worked with most styles of music before, and arranged music for many as well, so I'm very comfortable helping students with a variety of disciplines and interests. My professional experience in both the civilian and military music communities has given me an open-minded yet direct approach to WHAT you should learn, and HOW to develop each student's individual skills. I'm able to teach most students to an advanced level.

Matt is an intuitive teacher who is able to read the student and meet him at his level. He is clearly highly proficient as a musician himself and has a clear talent in sharing his expertise in a clear and practical way to the student.

My 7-year old daughter Kelsey has been receiving piano and vocal instruction from Matt for several months now. This is her first time taking music lessons, and already she is perfecting her first piano song, as well as a couple of songs she has learned to sing. In her own words, Kelsey describes Matt as a "kind and responsible teacher who always makes sure his students do the right thing, and is a great teacher." We are very thankful to have found Matt, and he is well qualified to teach a music student of any age.

I have never taken classes online before, but if this is how Robert teaches I would not hesitate to refer him to anyone that is interested in taking classes online. He was thorough, patient and very informative. More importantly he did not make me feel foolish in what I did not know. Thanks Robert

Anna T.

San Diego, CA

About Anna

Hello! I am available for in-home, in-studio, and online flexibility lessons and I would absolutely love to help you reach your goals! I began my own flexibility journey in 2013 when I started circus arts and wanted to look more like the professionals with beautiful splits and backbends!
I have learned several tips, tricks and methods that, as shown in the before and after pictures of my profile, will greatly improve your flexibility. I will stretch alongside you during the lesson to keep you motivated, and will encourage homework and progress check-ins multiple times during the week.

I
specialize teaching different exercises to improve your forward folds, front splits, middle splits, and backbends.

My ages taught and availability are flexible (pun intended) depending on your situation. Since I am not a medical professional, and every body is different, I do require a student to have a significant amount of body awareness or previous flexibility training experience. Please feel free to reach out via the Ask a Question feature on my profile if you have any hesitations so that we can discuss your specific needs!

I look forward to working with you!

Flip Your World Upside Down: Benefits of Inversion Yoga

Curious about inversion yoga? Learn how to do some of the essential poses in this guest post by San Diego teacher Tiffany V...   We are so used to viewing life from a “right-side-up” perspective, where we soak in the world around us by way of our sensory organs (eyes, ears, nose, and mouth). We process everything upstairs, allowing it all to accumulate to form our point of view, which in turn fuels our decisions, reactions, and movements down to our toes.
