Lauren L. Philadelphia, PA

About Lauren

I am a graduate of The University of The arts with a BA in music performance. The University of The Arts has allowed me to gain a reputable amount of performance and educational work. In my training at the University was able to concentrate on many styles of performance such as classical technique as well as Broadway and jazz. With that in mind, it is also important to stay current on today’s music as well. Music has allowed me to travel the world with various groups and perform with musicals greats like the Philly Pops, bassist Gerald Veasly and the great Bernard “Pretty “ Purdie. I have taught voice and piano for high school students entering college for music. My experience in teaching is not only with high school students but spans all ages. After completing college I continued

Lauren is the real deal. Point blank period. I initially signed up for singing lessons, but she has helped me with piano, music theory, and other skills as well. She has a much more wholesome approach for developing as an artist than simply a linear "sing these notes" type of lesson.

Lauren is a good balance of stern and silly. She has a great sense of humor, so I feel comfortable singing & playing for her (even if my skills are limited and sound like a dying horse). However, that doesn't mean you just goof around. She takes it very seriously and pushes you as a student. I couldn't recommend Lauren more.

Five stars.

Susan was very nice and also very easy to understand. She was funny and incorporated jokes within the lesson and also shared some of her own experiences with the piano with me. Overall, it was a very good lesson and i cannot wait for the next one.

I have a 14 year old who has had the privilege to have Susan teach him the tenor sax - and he has advanced remarkably in a short time! She has worked with him in music tastes, etc... The take lessons service has been easy to set up and utilize, too. I would HIGHLY recommend...Excellent instructor (and good location for Delaware County folks) You won't be disappointed!

My son is 16 and has been taking lessons with sandra since November of 2014. Sandra not only focuses on singing techniques to build your support and vocal strength, but also helps with understanding sheet music and acting within a musical piece. She is extremely personable and friendly. She has helped my son expand his vocal range, and she taught him vocal techniques to use to develop his voice. My son does musical theatre, and Sandra has taken a significant amount time during each lesson to help him sing the songs comfortably and understand the acting stand point in each song. She is a great teacher for him.

My daughter is 14 years old and we needed some help with an acting role for her school musical. Sandra was wonderful, in a brief time she was able to help her understand that it is important to own the role. I feel as though my daughter came a long way. My daughter did get the role that she auditioned for in her High School play and she is only a freshman. Thanks very much Sandra!

I am a private student of Sandra’s and have been studying singing with her for two years. I decided to study with Sandra because I know that she has a lot of professional experience on stage. I am mainly interested in musical theater, and Sandra has helped me find suitable songs for my voice. She works on breathing and building a solid technique which one can rely on. She has also helped me to develop as an actor, so that I feel completely comfortable with performing. I would highly recommend her.

Great teacher!

Michael is a great teacher and I would definitely recommend him to others who are interested in learning to play guitar or who want to increase their skills. Michael does a great job of tailoring the lessons to you, your needs, and your interests. He's very patient, gives feedback appropriately, and always points out what you're doing well. He's very encouraging. Michael is very knowledgeable and experienced. I thought I'd simply be learning to play chords on the guitar, but Michael has also taught me some music theory. He "breaks it down" to make sure I understand the concepts behind what I am doing. He's always happy to answer my questions and takes the time to explain stuff when necessary. He also writes everything down for me so I can easily practice on my own between lessons.

Lessons are going well, though I've only had a few I feel it is a collarborative effort between us both and I've learned quite a few things in a very brief amount of time. I look forward to more lessons and learning a lot more.
Ryan S. Philadelphia, PA

About Ryan

Born in raised on the south side of Chicago Illinois, I grew up listening to A LOT of great Chicago blues guitarists. After receiving my first acoustic guitar I quickly gravitated towards learning to play blues and blues rock guitar at the age of 13. As my hunger for knowledge grew, I began learning and studying other genres of music through private lessons and lesson videos in the styles of Progressive Rock, Shred, Funk, Fusion and Jazz. Music was a way for me to find structure, discipline, self worth and personal expression outside of the typical confines life provides. Through that I grew as a person and a musician. My sole reason for teaching is to help others find that passion and those qualities within themselves to live a beautiful and fulfilling life through his/her instrument.

Ryan is the third guitar teacher I have tried and in my opinion the best. While the others I tried were either too unstructured or too technical, Ryan does an excellent job of teaching you the all the basics while tying in the more technical theory aspects in a manner that is both efficient and logical. The way he is able to break things down has helped me progress much faster compared to my other guitar teachers. He is also well versed in adapting yours lessons to the style of music you want to learn how to play and can teach you all the different nuances that will help your playing stand out. I highly recommend giving Ryan a shot to help your reach your guitar playing goals.

I took about 8 lessons with Ryan so far and it has been a very good experience. You can tell he is very passionate about the guitar and really creates a fun and interesting learning environment. I am a beginner and Ryan is very patient and helps me work through things I am struggling with. Before I was trying to teach myself but I feel after taking lessons for 2 months I already have learned 10 times as much as before.
