Creativity, skill and love of music are the key elements that I work to encourage in every student. Over the years my teaching has evolved and I find it gratifying to take people far beyond their own expectations while helping them achieve their goals. I believe everyone is musical and just needs the right key to tap into their own creativity. For beginners it's important to study with an excellent teacher. Setting a solid and creative foundation makes all the difference! For advanced players studying with a great artist takes you greater artistry. Weekly private lessons focus on technical skills in either piano, voice (or a combination of both) and a strong musical foundation. Theory and Ear Training are fundamentals that are embedded in this approach to developing a complete ...
I began taking piano lessons at a young age and continued with them through my freshman year of college. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and five years of experience teaching private piano lessons. My degree and experience with elementary aged children have prepared me to be able to tailor lessons to my students' individual needs, explain concepts in creative ways, and adjust the pace of lessons as needed. Playing piano is something that I really enjoy, so I love having the opportunity to give students the skills they need to enjoy it, too! *** Lesson Details *** I try to create a learning environment that's fun and laid back while still maintaining reasonable expectations for my students. I love seeing my students succeed, so I do my best to give them all the tools
I teach lessons out of my home on Fridays. I have an acoustic upright piano in my home, seating inside and outside, and there is plenty of on street parking. Students need either an acoustic piano at their home or a weighted keyboard. Students are responsible for purchasing their own sheet music, whether through me or from a store or online. We can talk about what kind of music you like to play or want to learn to play and go from there. Usually for either a beginner adult or child, I recommend the Alfred piano series, along with a technique book to strengthen and limber up the fingers, and a fun piece ... something you specifically want to learn or challenge yourself with. My strongest abilities are in classical music, because that is what I have the most experience in, ...
My passion is music and I've known since a very young age that I wanted to be a professional musician and music teacher. I trained at Berklee College of Music in Boston & Neupauer Conservatory in Philadelphia, and obtained a BA in Music Education, with a concentration in classical and jazz guitar, from Shepherd University in West Virginia. I currently teach out of a studio in PA and play in two working bands. I am excited about teaching via the internet and look forward to sharing my love of music with my students. *** Lesson Details *** I teach guitar, bass, mandolin & banjo. I teach my students to read music and give them a firm foundation in chord structure and music theory that will enable them to play diverse styles of music. Once a student becomes competent with these basics, ...
