Jeff W.

San Mateo, CA

About Jeff

Hello Students/Parents:

I have been drumming for 20 years and currently I am playing professionally in the Bay Area. I am funny, friendly, outgoing, great with kids, , and have been teaching music for 4 years and counting.

I tend to work mainly as a "For hire" drummer on multiple acts.
Styles include: Pop/Rock/Funk/Reggae and Hip-hop.
I currently play with Street Drum Corps ("Percussion ensemble of the Year" from Drum Magazine! -2012) and Out of The Blue. (Hit band)

*** Lesson Details ***
During our first lesson we will discuss plans that cater to your needs, and customize th
em.
I want to help you reach your goals and make you happy as a drummer, so I am open to teach you anything no matter where your strength or weaknesses may fall.
Next, we will pick a fun area to work on, and a challenging area to conquer. For example: we will work on a fun song/groove-- then we will work on reading and/or rudiments.
I am also very patient and Flexible to those students whom have special needs, or want to go slower.

I teach using a combination of modern, traditional and personal books, and Popular music charts and lead sheets for drums are written by myself, for the student.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will bring the following: my laptop for music purposes and songs, and my curriculum.
I expect my student to have the following: A pair of sticks, a practice pad/or small sized drum kit, headphones of any kind, and a music stand. I will plan to use one drum set switching off.

"œWhen the student combines his/her playing with a strong practice, playing, and performance regimen, they are bound to get better and improve to continue making music a concrete hobby in their life."

Thanks!
-Jeff

I've gotten so much better!

So far, with just having three lessons with Jeff, I feel that the amount that I have progressed in three weeks is far greater than the amount I've improved in the two years I've been drumming! I highly recommend Jeff to anybody.

We have had the pleasure of knowing Elizabeth for the past few years during which she has taught singing to our daughter, Katia, at home. Not only is Elizabeth knowledgeable, she is patient, thoughtful and considerate of her students. She puts nervous singers at ease while encouraging them to explore their full potential. We are most fortunate to have Elizabeth as Katia's singing instructor as our daughter really looks forward to her weekly lessons.

Liz is great!

I'm quite nervous when it comes to singing and Liz is managing to put me more at ease with me and my voice. She is very amiable, gracious, and knowledgeable. She does her best to help me find my voice and points out where I could improve without making me feel awful or pressured. In just the few lessons I've had with Liz, I think I've made some great improvements that I can hear and feel when I sing, with Liz being enthusiastic about trying to push the boundaries of my voice gently while assisting me in reaching my full vocal potential.

Vanessa S.

San Mateo, CA

About Vanessa

I'd love to have a few more students to build my studio in the Bay Area! I currently play Alto Saxophone with the San Francisco Wind Ensemble. I sing and conduct choir at church, and play clarinet with ensembles from time to time. I have my Bachelors in Music Education and I've taught at both the middle school and high school levels. I currently have saxophone, flute, and clarinet students and am looking for more!

I studied Saxophone at BYU with Dr. Ray Smith, who is a pupil of Eugene Rousseau, arguably the best classical saxophonist of our time. And I played in countless large and small en
sembles there. I know I can be a great music teacher for you, focusing on the basics and making sure proper technique and musicality is always addressed. I strive to help each individual student with their needs. I will challenge you, but we ll be sure to move at your own pace. I feel my years of experience playing and teaching build a great foundation for me to be your best private music teacher. We'll focus on appropriate repertoire, technique, and work toward yearly recitals.

Why should I choose you as my saxophone teacher in San Mateo?

I have nearly 2 decades of experience playing saxophone. I graduated from BYU with my bachelors in music education and saxophone. I had my teaching credentials in UT as well. I have taught at both middle school and high school levels. I play at the professional level with the San Francisco Wind Ensemble.

Do you have references?

I can give you references when you contact me. I also had my teaching credentials in UT so I went through all of the clearance for that as well.
