I teach absolute beginners, children, and pre-professional dancers. I welcome students who have never stepped foot into a dance studio before and just want to have fun. I assure you, if I can have my rowdy three year old students leaping across the floor with grace I can teach you how to move!
Hello Students! My name is Michelle and I have been dancing since I was seven years old! I was one of two graduates to earn my Bachelor of Fine Art in Dance/Dance Pedagogy from Columbia College Chicago in 2011. I have since moved back to New York City where I dance for a professional modern dance company in downtown Manhattan. When I am not teaching class, I am busy being a student of my own all over New York City at prestigious studios such as Steps on Broadway, Gibney Dance Center and Broadway Dance Center. It is here where I take daily classes with the country's greatest dance teachers/choreographers to continue my never ending training in dance techniques and developments. As a working professional dancer, I understand the rigor that it takes to achieve your goals and I work ...

Hi, and welcome to my profile! I am a Manhattan based, freelance classical violinist and aerialist with a passion for teaching. A west coast transplant, I received my bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where I was a student of Axel Strauss. Two years ago I moved out to New York to pursue my master's of music as a student of Hiroko Yajima at Mannes College, which I completed in 2011. I have over 20 years of ballet and dance training, and have performed professionally with Ballet Idaho and Santa Clara Ballet. Here in NY, I am an active performer and teacher of aerial skills and flexibility training. I have trained in contortion with Jonathan Nosan and Isaac Pena. In my spare time, I like to read, write, and practice aerial arts!
I have taught group, as well as private ballet classes to students ranging from 6-18 years old, as well as to beginner-intermediate level adult students. My focus is on proper alignment, strengthening of the particular muscles required to be able to execute classical ballet repertory, as well as on fluidity of movement and artistic expression. While Ballet is a highly stylized and physically demanding dance technique, I encourage my students to express themselves from a place of joy and love for the art form.
I'm a professional dancer and I have trained in a variety of dance techniques since the age of six. Throughout my dance career I have become aware of the importance of cross-training for optimal conditioning of the body for the purpose of injury prevention. I'm a certified Pilates instructor and I have more than seven years of experience as a Private Fitness Consultant, customizing my workout to the specific needs, goals and abilities of each individual client. I created Pilates Fitness Fusion, which integrates elements from my years of dance, as well as from Yoga, Zena Rommett’s Floor Barre, Feldenkrais, Pilates and Gyrokinesis. I also draw from the fluid forms of Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Alexander Technique. The result is an incredibly diverse and specialized fitness program. Pilates
