Careful private work on shape and function of the body, part by part. Breaking down the language of the movement so you know what you are doing when and how to carefully develop the parts that are weakest by separating them from the mix of all the movement and then studying them minutely until the physical process makes sense to your mind and body.

After that I will only be available to east coast students via Skype or intermittent) I graduated from Juilliard in dance and pursued modern dance and all sorts of theatre including musicals and music theatre and performing arts. I have taught children and grown ups for many years. I have a strong performing career and love the way teaching keeps me in a giving and learning place. *** Lesson Details *** With beginning students I am very laid back and patient and believe strongly that in the play of games and experiments technique will develop and manifest. As the student becomes more advanced I become more demanding as do the materials. As an acting teacher I have an advanced capacity to ...

Hi, and welcome to my profile! I am a Manhattan based, freelance classical violinist and aerialist with a passion for teaching. A west coast transplant, I received my bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where I was a student of Axel Strauss. Two years ago I moved out to New York to pursue my master's of music as a student of Hiroko Yajima at Mannes College, which I completed in 2011. I have over 20 years of ballet and dance training, and have performed professionally with Ballet Idaho and Santa Clara Ballet. Here in NY, I am an active performer and teacher of aerial skills and flexibility training. I have trained in contortion with Jonathan Nosan and Isaac Pena. In my spare time, I like to read, write, and practice aerial arts!

Teaching for seven years, but with 27 years of professional dance experience before that. Balanchine style, ballet technique, pointe & variations. Posture, carriage, proper muscle use in order to achieve certain lines or steps. Musicality and emphasis on timing or "playing" with the music.
Can help with setting up pointe shoes, ribbon/elastic placement, proper breaking in of shoes.
Dance fitness includes extra strength building techniques using Barre Method & Pilates style core building exercises.
I am a former Principal dancer with Pacific Northwest Ballet. I have taught for the last eight years - technique, pointe, and variations class to kids and teens, and run rehearsals for upcoming performances. A year ago, I went through training in one of the Barre Method classes and worked with adults in a more fitness related category for two months before moving to New York. I am a strong believer in health, wellness and good diet in order to stay in your peak condition for dance. As a dancer, I always had to work to keep more muscle on my body so I'm particularly concerned with not only how to train for dance but to build strength as well to enhance performance and prevent injuries.
