Stephen has been giving our teenager daughter weekly lessons in "J-pop" dancing. Even though his background does not include this particular style, he has done a great job of staying ahead of our daughter, and-even more importantly-encouraging and motivating her to keep at it. (Since dancing is one of the few exercises she will do willingly, this is key!) She looks forward to the weekly lesson and so do we.

Amanda S.

New York, NY

I have been teaching Ballet in New York City for over 6 years, at various studios including the Joffrey Ballet School. When taking a private ballet lesson I will assess your technical level and help you understand what your strengths and weaknesses are. In a supportive way I will help to improve ballet technique, increase flexibility, refine rhythmic understanding to acquire clarity in your ballet training.
I will cater private lessons for beginning ballet students to professional dancers. My style is very supportive and direct. I believe that to improve as a dancer you need personal feedback and hard work. I am very passionate about sharing what I know to help other dancers reach their goals.

About Amanda

I am currently dancing with the Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company and on faculty teaching at the Paul Taylor School. While maintaining a professional dance career in New York City, I have been passionate about teaching dance for the past 9 years.

I have taught Master Classes and Intensive Workshops in the Paul Taylor style throughout the nation, as well as teaching Vaganova Ballet at the Joffrey Ballet School. I have taught in numerous public schools through teaching residencies with Rioult Dance Company and Education In Dance. I believe these experiences have taught me how to assess individuals
quickly and provide clear feedback in a positive and supportive way.

My teaching style is energetic, and focused on the personal experience each dancer is having, while giving direct and clear feedback. My goal is to help students reach their artistic potential in their dancing by helping to combine technique with lyricism, rhythmic dynamics and emotive qualities.

Private lessons can be catered toward each individual. Either for an upcoming audition, feedback on solo or ensemble choreography, to help personalize technical corrections and to help push technique to a higher level, or for non dancers to help understand movement and feel comfortable in a beginning class.

Sara P.

Brooklyn, NY

With an emphasis on strong foundations and musicality I would love to help anyone become a more well rounded dancer.

Whether you're just starting out or want to polish a few problem areas I'm here to help!

About Sara

Hello! I'm Sara!

I started dancing at the age of 3. I am well versed in Ballet, Modern and Jazz. I attended Joffrey San Antonio (2004) and Paul Taylor New York (2010) intensives.

While in high school I taught Ballet, Jazz, Pre-Pointe and Pointe classes to dancers age 3-14.

In 2011 I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Pedagogy (which is the art or science of teaching).

Since moving to NYC 5 years ago I have been focused on performing with such dance companies as Exit 12 Dance Company (2011-2012) and Community Dance Project (2013-2014).
While not dancing with specific companies I have choreographed and danced in two music videos.

I can't express my love for teaching enough! To know that I could help spark the passion of dance in a young person is extremely inspiring.

Gracie H.

Brooklyn, NY

My goal in classes is to create a fun, positive atmosphere and pass on the love I have found for this beautiful art form. I put a strong emphasis on teaching clean, pure technique from the start of class. I believe that only once that is developed, students have the freedom to really dance and move from a place of stability and core strength. This provides a dancer with the freedom to push past their own boundaries and enjoy the movement quality, and this is my goal for each of my students!

About Gracie

Hello! My name is Gracie Huber, and I am a professional ballet dancer and teacher in the city. I have had over 6 years of teaching experience. I have been dancing from the age of 6, and am currently dancing with Ballet Next, with previous experience dancing professionally with Grand Rapids Ballet.

I am very passionate about passing on my love for dance, and know that it can bring joy to many people - people of all different backgrounds. I have lots of experience teaching in many different environments, ranging from young children with no prior experience, to company class with Ballet Next.
My goal when teaching is to create a positive, fun environment, so that dancers feel free to go outside of their comfort zone and grow. I bring joy and energy to a class, and would love to get to know you and help you discover a love for dance!

Gracie is an exceptional ballet teacher. Her instructions are delivered with ultimate patience and her explanations on how to execute steps with technique is crystal clear. She is extremely encouraging and knows how to motivate her students. In addition, she is able to listen and attend to her students needs if special attention is required due to an injury etc. Gracie is able to analyze why a student is having difficulty with execution and is then able to instruct on how to fix the problem by breaking it down into small attainable steps. Gracie is a real pleasure and so much fun to work with!

Gracie is a wonderful ballet teacher! She knows how to mold her class to the specific needs of different students and dancers, whether at a beginning level or at an advanced/professional level. She gives a very thoughtful and challenging class that progresses at a nice pace, and she takes time to work with students through every combination, paying great attention to detail. Aside from her teaching a very good ballet class, one of the most special things about Gracie is her positive attitude about teaching and inspiring others, her always pleasant and cheerful demeanor, and her ability to be totally patient and calm while simultaneously maintaining students' discipline and enforcing the rigorous demands of ballet technique and training. I very highly recommend this ballet teacher.

Janice K.

New York, NY

Hi students! I am a professional ballet/Broadway dancer with 25+ years of training and experience. I have taught at Ballet Academy East (nationally recognized for it's well crafted syllabus and meticulous technique) in both the young children's pre-ballet program and the Pre-Professional Graded Level. As a student, I have attended San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, American Ballet Theater in NYC, and Central PA Youth Ballet before working on Broadway in Phantom of the Opera and with The Metropolitan Opera in Lincoln Center.

Not only will you gain strength and technique, but also insight into the industry from a seasoned professional. You will also leave with exercises you can practice at home for rapid improvement.

*For students 10 years old and under, lessons will be held at 66 West 38th Street, NY, NY 10018.

*For adults and older ...

Janice honors the integrity of traditional yoga teachings while making them practical in today's world. Her class is centered around the vinyasa technique of breath and fluidity between po
ses . She teaches yoga for inner peace, strength, joy, a quiet mind, and the highest self.

Before teaching yoga, Janice worked as a technology investment analyst at a hedge fund, as well as a professional Broadway and ballet dancer.
