Julien M.

Oklahoma City, OK

About Julien

Hello prospective students! My name is Julien. I am very excited for the opportunity to teach and share the wonders and joys of music with you. I have played the guitar seriously for 9 years and have taught for the past 5. I have been blessed with the experience of playing with some world class musicians, and was deeply inspired by the love, passion, creativity, and dedication these musicians bestowed upon me. My goal is to share these qualities with my students and help them find their own voice.

*** Lesson Details ***
You can expect our lessons to be very enthusiastic and fun. The firs
t matter of business is to decipher what exactly it is the student wants out of music. Once this has been discerned, a specific curriculum will charted out for the student. Students can expect to have a lot fun but also work hard. I definitely have a laid back style of teaching because I want the student to feel comfortable and be able to relax. Relaxation is one of the key elements to playing an instrument well! Thank you.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living Room: table, chairs,, guitar equipment, sheet music, Chess boards/ pieces/books, cooking utensils and books.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide sheet music, guitar is necessary. I expect the student to have a guitar at least. I can bring chess equipment, cooking items.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Jazz, funk, rock. I also have experience in classical, blues. I teach chess and also cooking classes.

Brian B.

Oklahoma City, OK

I am a recent graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor's of Music Performance and a minor in Jazz Studies. I have eight years of teaching experience, the last four years spent teaching part-time for the University of Central Oklahoma.

Lessons are tailored to each individual since we all learn in our own unique way. Although I stress a foundation of music theory and basic sight-reading, the utmost importance is getting to play what you want to play.

About Brian

Brian B., a guitarist for over fourteen years, has made a name for himself in Oklahoma City as a performer, instructor, and composer. He is a recent graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s of Music and minor in Jazz Studies. Brian has had the great privilege to study under Walter Kelly, Bruce Saunders, Danny Vaughan, and recently studying classical with Matthew Denman.

While at the University of Central Oklahoma, Brian auditioned into the universities top jazz combo, the Jazz Composers combo, which focused on original compositions by each of its members. It was dur
ing his tenure in this combo that Brian discovered his love for composing and arranging for small jazz ensembles. He has written a number of compositions, but his favorite original composition to date is entitled “Iridescence”, which you can hear on his SoundCloud.
