Tina B. Holland, MI

About Tina

"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent." -Victor Hugo Music is so much more than just notes on a page. Music can give you goose bumps, make your heart soar, or move you to tears. I specialize in teaching the fundamentals of music theory and technique while also helping each student learn how to express themselves through music. I started playing the piano when I was 4 years old and within six months, had won my first competition. I have participated in and excelled at countless festivals and competitions throughout my piano career, receiving awards from Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) competitions and consistently performing at the top level at the annual American College of Musicians' National Piano Guild Auditions. I have ...

Great teacher

I am sorry I had to stop the lessons with piano teacher Tina because it is too far from my house. She is a very good teacher, well prepared professionally, dedicated and knowledgeable. My grandson likes her methods of teaching very much. I highly recommend her as a piano teacher.

Great experience!!

I have taken lessons on and off with Tina for a couple of years. She is always patient and encouraging, even if I don't practice. I don't think there's any other teacher out there who could have gotten me to the level that I'm at now because I would have quit so many times with someone else. I would highly recommend her!!
Tricia Y. Grand Rapids, MI

About Tricia

My passion is teaching music to students of all ages and all levels; sharing with them the joy of music. Music has the capacity to open up our hearts and minds to unknown worlds and cultures; thereby enabling us to express ourselves in unique and individualized ways. Music is not solely about learning the notes, or conquering Rachmaninoff or Grieg; each song is a melody of the heart, and should be navigated as such. When I teach lessons my students learn technique, structure and theory, but also voicing, expression, and interpretation. I graduated from Multnomah University in December 2011 with a Bachelors degree in Music. I specifically studied instrumentation (piano), vocalization, performance, conducting and composition. I love music, I have since I was a little girl. From a

Excellent, Professional Teacher

Miss Tricia is an absolutely wonderful music instructor. I'm an adult student learning to develop my voice, and she is able to quickly identify the problems in my vocal technique and help me improve. Her lesson plans keep me on task and develop my tool sets. She's also great with explaining the theory behind the music and introducing me to different works and styles of music. Though I'm not receiving piano instruction from her myself, I have heard her work and watched her instruction, and I am highly impressed by both. She gets my highest recommendation.

Kelsey P. Grand Rapids, MI

About Kelsey

I love singing! I've been singing for as long as I can remember, and I've been creating songs and playing guitar since shortly after that. I have a Bachelor's in Music from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI and I have been a full time working musician for two and a half years. After graduating, I worked for two years at Baker College in Owosso, MI as a tutor for English and Math in the school library and eventually started teaching a basic English class. During these years I developed a passion for teaching. I love helping students discover skills they never thought they had, and helping them develop those skills so they can become even better. Whether I'm teaching Singing, Performance, Songwriting, I strive to find ways to help each student achieve their goals. ...

Coming in as never having any singing background, Kelsey has taught me that I can actually sing and that I can sing a lot higher than I ever thought I could. YAY!!! I'm a visual learner, and Kelsey uses a lot of visual techniques with teaching me how to sing. That, in return, has helped me to catch on a lot quicker.

Kelsey is so helpful to a novice/wannabe singer. She senses what needs work and addresses the issue(s). She has me work on what I want to sing, in addition to what she feels I need basic help on. Kelsey is helping me think about what I need to think about and "listen" before singing.
Glad to have found her and her expertise.

I tailor my teaching style and methods to each student so every student is able to learn well and enjoy learning to play a musical instrument(s).

Tom G. Grand Rapids, MI

About Tom

Beginning at a young age, I have self-taught myself a handful of instruments and continue to collect them in my studio. Students are welcome to try out any instruments they want to, ranging from cello to hammered dulcimer to guzheng. Over the last 5 years I have performed music professionally, recording multiple albums and playing upwards of a hundred and some shows a year. My personal approach to learning a new instrument is through creative experimentation through recording. Simple songs can be constructed and recorded using the myriad of instruments that I have. This not only enables the student to learn the instrument of their choice, but also experiment with other instruments and learn by ear how to construct different parts and listen to how they work together. This, combined
