Cameron C.

Littleton, CO

About Cameron

*** Lesson Details ***

I have a “parent’s always welcome” attitude in a well equipped furnished basement studio. I can make recording and CD creation available.

My teaching method guarantees you how to play the guitar, not just songs by memory or tab.

I call my style the Quick Fret board Mastery Teaching Style. Using this you will learn quickly how to play songs and have fun, but will be gaining the fundamentals all along. There are no boring theory classes or repetitive scale sessions, but you will leave each lesson with new knowledge of theory and scales without actually studying
them separately. You will instead being playing songs and having fun.

We have a custom workbook that includes CHORDS, SCALES, PROGRESSIONS, CHARTING and ADVANCED THEORY. The workbook outlines the basics, we add to it every week with material customized for you.

We go as fast or as slow as you decide. We give homework, but it is not mandatory.

If you are a student you will shine in your school, group or band. If you are an adult you will be amazed at how fast you learn and how good you will become.

We hope you grow to love music and the guitar as much as I do. ROCK ON!

*** Studio Equipment ***

Finished basement set up as music studio with guitars, amps, a sound system and seating for parents. Les Paul, Strat, Martin and Taylor guitars. Fender (2) and Mesa Boogie amps. Full sound system. CD, Mp3 player and Laptop with ITunes. 4-track digital recording systems. Plenty of room, chairs, stands, etc.

*** Specialties ***

Blues and rock guitar

***Experience***

I have played rock and blues guitar for 30 years. I grew up with the Beatles and Rolling Stones, but now play in the Albert King, Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton blues styles. I know most rock, blues, folk and jazz styles with some knowledge of country and classical.

I have been the rhythm, lead or bass guitar player in six bands spanning 30 years. My current band is West of the Blues.

I was mentored by Mike Bruce. Mike was BB King’s, Bobby Blue Bland’s and Bob Seger’s lead guitar player for many years. He has played with everyone from Eric Clapton to Janet Jackson.

During the Mike Bruce period my band opened for him almost everywhere. He became my mentor and guitar teacher and only then did I start learning how to play the instrument that initially looked easy.

I have taught Rock Band and Guitar in Denver Public Schools for the past four years.

I have taught guitar and bass informally for about 14 years and our Littleton based lesson studio has been in operation for eight years with lessons taught more formally.

I also am the founder of and current teacher at the School of Blues Colorado. Additionally I am the Band Director for 3 of the School of Blues bands.

We couldn't be happier!

My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Cameron for several months now. She really loves it, and has learned a great deal. She is learning both guitar and bass guitar, and Cameron leaves it up to her which one she wishes to focus on that week. He is flexible, patient, kind, with a comfortable laid-back approach. My daughter leaves her lessons inspired. Cameron has a comfortable well lit studio in his home. He is an experienced teacher and performer, and has good advice and tricks to make learning easier. She is using a personalized workbook for lessons, and there is an emphasis on improv and learning by listening. We couldn't be happier!

Mary F.

Denver, CO

About Mary

I've been playing piano since I was 6 yrs. old, and guitar and organ since I was 13. I've been able to use music in so many ways, and that is the opportunity I want for my students. From singing in school and church choirs, to accompanying and directing them, I've had a lot of enjoyable experiences. I've had the fun of performing solo and with bands, and have been teaching music for about 25 yrs, both privately and in the schools. My BA is in music education and my Masters is in individual performance. I've taught K-Jr College music classes in general music, chorus, piano, guitar, and theory.
I think my favorite form of teaching is still one-on-one lessons. Working with one student allows me to adjust my teaching to their particular learning style and needs.

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm strict enough to make sure that my students make progress and get a strong musical foundation. I'm laid back enough to make sure that they have a good time doing so and can feel that they are setting their own goals.

*** Studio Equipment ***

Basic Piano and Organ at Church

*** Travel Equipment ***

I scheduled a lesson with Mary on April 12. She cancelled her first lesson with me on April 19 without any reason why and rescheduled it over an existing appointment. No call on my phone, no email in my inbox. Very disappointing. Very unprofessional. With the variability of my schedule, I can't handle someone willing to cancel that close to a session (I'm a nurse who works 12 hour night shifts).

I feel very relaxed during my lessons and totally enjoy what I'm given to practice. I'm being challenged but it's so rewarding to be learning a lot so quickly. I am grateful. Mary Angie Uhlmeyer.

Michael is an amazing instructor. He has been great at teaching me, as I came to him never having played an instrument, or knowing how to read music. We started right from the beginning and now a year and a half in I'm starting to play on the real thing. I would not recommend anyone else, he is top notch!

Taylor R.

Golden, CO

About Taylor

**Biography**

Taylor is a student at the University of Colorado Denver with a declared Bachelor's in Music Business.

As a musician, Taylor has performed with many famous musicians and conductors; notable names include Mark Wood (founder of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Wes Kenney (lead conductor of the Colorado State University Symphony Orchestra), and Randy Sabien (famous jazz violinist). He studied Viola privately during high school at the University of Denver under the instruction of champion fiddler and musical saw player Caroline McCaskey, who has been a guest performer for the Col
orado Symphony Orchestra. Taylor also studied music theory and piano privately with famous Ukrainian pianist and music historian Olga Dashevskaya at Red Rocks Community College. Recently, Taylor has studied Viola under Katherine Thayer, concert master of the Denver Philharmonic.

During early 2016, Taylor traveled to Derry, Northern Ireland to study under Liz Doherty, one of the best Irish fiddlers in the world. While there, Taylor also received brief training from Troy MacGillivray, a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award recipient. He also performed at the 2016 Derry International Irish Music Festival with famous pub session players.

Taylor is currently the 2nd Chair Violist for the Denver Pops Orchestra, one of the largest professional orchestras in the Denver Metro area.

Taylor was also a notable actor during his time in high school. He performed at state competitions, including the Colorado State Thespian Conference and the Jefferson County Theatre Festival, where he received some the highest scores; 4/5 Superior ratings from nationally acclaimed judges, for his monologue and scene work.

**Lesson Methods**

Although lessons follow a basic curriculum, the lesson is always about what the student desires to accomplish. For example, music students are ALWAYS allowed to pick their own performance repertoire to work on. Lessons are always focused on encouragement, assistance, and the self-success & determination of the student.

About Kevin

I truly enjoy teaching. I've taught in the public school classroom for 11 years. Teaching music is so so much FUN! And it should be fun for the students to learn. When I'm teaching I tell all my students that if they don't enjoy and smile about something, then we need to change something.

I would love to start lessons with you soon.

Kevin is an excellent instructor. He is providing lessons to myself and my two kids (11 & 13). We are enjoying playing together. Kevin had us playing recognizable songs in the first couple lessons. He is great about integrating what you want to play, adding some music theory and keeping us on task to practice efficiently. Not to mention he is just a good guy... and very dependable!
